Are you sure it's a color problem? Your value structure is looking weak, all of those tiny little white spots with weird blended edges aren't helping your design.

You lack attention to detail. The thumbnails of both of these are alright and I can see what you were trying to do with them, but the moment I enlarge the images, I'm greeted with bulky, simple shapes.
