Trying too hard to draw with "quality" instead of feeling.
The art at the top has more motion, clear expression, thick lines, overlap of the character and a great composition.
The lower one has excessive negative space, the character looks more stiff and just less lively.
It's like when an artist zooms in on a picture to perfect every detail and loses the bigger picture in the process.
Personally, I think if an artists art improves, it gets a little worse at first due to being too distracted by technical details to convey the feeling you want to, but the art will get better too once you're more comfortable in your skill and can focus back on conveying a message rather than just drawing a pretty picture.

Artists that have fun while drawing tend to make soulful art, a lot of beginners don't care about making good art, just drawing something for fun.
Btw this is why more skilled artists make boring art, they had to study and practice for thousands of hours so they're sick of making art, and a lot of great artists straight up hate art, I can't blame them, their experience is like that chocolate cake scene on the Matilda movie.

for me soul is when someone draw something without real intent, hard to explain but imagine when you just "try" not really searching perfection or likes, you just had a feeling or a plain idea you needed to see done.

this is why most redraws (even from the same artist, which probably got better) always feel souless, is this idea that "if i draw it better it would be better" that become souless to me, redraws are, most of the time, just a skill test, is even worst when another person try to do it.

This is the problem with the westoid. They think everything is in conflict. They cannot conceive of different styles/images capturing different things without being opposed. They have to pick the "correct" thing and defend it while attacking everything else and anyone who isn't like them is in the wrong. But they can never justify why anyone should follow them or why their understanding is correct, it's always vague buzzwords with no technical specificity (because they cannot draw in the style)
