Good concept but you've made the common mistake of separating the breasts too much. The way you've shaded and added shirt wrinkles for each breast makes it look as if the shirt is vacuum sealed to her body. A tight shirt won't curve around each breast but will be stretched across them as if they form one mass.

She is but the area of her bangs above the ear is kinda awkward. The hair otherwise looks like it's radiating from one point which is good but it makes that bit stand out because it doesn't follow the flow of the rest of the hair.

It doesn't, I think it's been half a month since I taped the paper to the tab but one week of use and the nib still has no visible slope to it. I even sanded down one of the nibs to reduce the lever effect when you press down to draw, feels more tight now.

Got back into trying drawing again because the pen is really nice for drawing with a light touch, Deco 01 I had before was a pain in the ass.

Here's a little cartoon. I tried to keep volume and perspective in mind but it still feels like I'm slapping stickers on a page. I understand that every aspect is fundamentally wonky. I see. I mean, what frustrates me more is the control of proportions I guess. Since different references means diferent proportions for certain parts like torso, even if I make it sounds right I become annoyed that it's too far from what I want to myself.
At the very least, after some hours I at least feel more comfortable doodling so that's a gain I suppose.

you could have more contrast, and better color choices too. Shadows and highlights can have their hue shifted a bit. If you look at the one on the right, the shadows of the blue part are almost purple, while the highlights take on a lot of green.

In terms of overall design, the best game icons communicate the idea very clearly without needing a lot of knowledge on what it is supposed to represent. Silhouette is really important.
>some kind of laser or beam attack
>energy shield? armored suit? less clear

I agree, can you point me in the direction of where I can start learning this? Maybe a book or something
>>7749052
The black border is just from my screen capture. In game the icons get scaled down to 64x64 with a border depending on the race (Starcraft 2).
Pic related, an example of the pro's icon scaled down. Mine tend to lose much more visual info than his when scaled down.

Teacherfag and Niggu making it to pro level in less than a year while other hardworkers remain permaint for their whole life says otherwise.
I am not even mentioning the permabegs who lack any kind of talent. I am talking about the permaints like frenchie, nemo, raxav and that pink brush guy who put in the work but are still well below talented niggers like Teacherfag.

An overwhelming vision saturates the imagination, providing feedback for all senses. Visuality is just a part of a complete artistic impression. Drawing is entertaining as an activity, but the results are just too limited in their potential to completely captivate the attention of the observer (though perhaps more "estimulating" because of it). I want to be like ZUN sensei, even if I (most likely) fail horrendously at the attempt. Thanks for reading my blog.

It seems like a lot of things about art is less about skill and more about patience. There have been many times in which I made an underwhelming piece simply because I didn't have the patience to polish it more, or change certain things. Or maybe patience is a skill in itself in this case...

Well I’ll give you some crit

Good facial proportions, hair, and overall anatomy. Decent line work too.

As for crit, I think the mouth is a tad too wide/large. Hair is a bit symbol drawn. Study some hair from life to get a better feel for it. Like I don’t think it should be so triangular, and the pattern of short hair that you have on bottom right doesn’t look natural in contrast to the rest of the hair. Clothing needs some more planning overall. Like the bottom of his clothing just looks very lackluster compared to the folds around his neck for example. Same thing as before, study real shirts because right now it’s hard to read. Also the background needs more clarity. Try to tell a story with the background. Right now, it’s very unclear what purpose the background serves in your drawing aside from simply being there.

I don’t mean to come off rude, but even though I get what you’re trying to depict, I think that it’s something you should just experiment with more. Like I just think that if they’re being blown away they need to be drawn moving in one direction. It’s not badly drawn or anything, I just think it’s a concept that needs more time since it’s complex

Take a break anon, there was no bragging anywhere.
Personally I don't even see anything that warrants bragging. It's low /beg/, though it may show some first understanding of construction.

If it impresses you, you are a permabeg. There's no cure.
>>
>>7749414
if it's too different to what I draw (flowers, tumblr/calarts stuff, guro, ...) I don't reply.
If it is too perma/beg/ I don't reply. If it is more of the same of something I already commented on, I don't reply. And sometimes I just don't reply.

I only leave negative replies if the drawing is bad AND the artist agitates. To schizo pre/beg/ howies who ask if they should continue I don't reply, unless I feel compelled to say they should just give up.I consider this a service, consultancy pro bono. I'm not the only one who does it, so don't think it's just one gu disliking your art.

I leave positive replies when I see good work, but not always (see: more of the same fatigue). I also comment positively if I notice improvements, or if I consider works very creative or interesting.

I actively engage more with artists who share their routine, hours spent on work, hours/years of drawing, techniques used, brushes used, reference used, give some background to their idea (no deviantart OC fanfic, more like what inspired the work), who he considers a role model etc.

Generally yeah. I've noticed most people don't actually like to crab unless the artist deserves it, and don't offer critique unless there is something obvious to change/improve. If a work is all around bad, it will simply go ignored. It doesn't help either that people tend to leave the thread once they start seeing real improvement and begin to find acceptance in better art communities, taking their knowledge and skills with them.

>>7749522
It's pretty alright, a lot of features like perspective grids are locked behind a one time payment wall, but it has all the advantages of a vector based app, the infinite canvas feature is nice because you can gather all ideas regarding a project in a single place, just keep in mind it's more taxing on system resources, noticeably in larger projects and/or with sketches using many lines, and I'm pretty sure it uses more battery than the 2 I mentioned in this post too

I am making manga for a local contest and in the rules they demand A4 format with 300dpi for monochrome print. But shit turns out so pixelated I can cut myself on pixels. I am a newbie and never made anything for print, just digital. I read on forums that you need to draw upscaled with bigger canvas and dpi, but what the fuck is the difference if it will be printed with 300dpi anyway? Extra pixels won't magically appear. Am I retarded? Are the organizers retarded? I looked at previous contest works and they are definitely at least 600dpi and some are not even monochrome but grayscale. I feel like I'll be the only dumbass who actually follows the rules and will suffer for it lol
>>
>>7749627
its not a normal format but it shouldnt be a problem. make sure you have monochrome layers and no anti aliasing. if youre on csp, you can easily set this in the creation of the project. the only problem i have is that i cant set the dpi lower than 600 so keep that in mind. not sure why they ask for 300, seems pretty low indeed.

You can always do both. Trad forces you to learn some of the fundies, though. I wouldn't neglect it entirely. Digital best if you're looking to post online / do commercial stuff. Uf you're super beg then there's no real need to invest in good art supplies either. So bottom-line, do both!!

I am that "teacherfag". I honestly don't get it. No matter how much I try to tell people, I'm still very much beg-tier. I can copy linework, draw a few basic pieces and do some studies from refs, but that's about it. After a while of posting, I'd rather just focus on actually drawing and learning stuff, which is actually the fun part. I might return in another year or so, but for now, this will be it.
Again, I don't get it. I just draw, but schizos be schizin'.
>>
>>7750096
You can copy from the reference normally, I can’t find and evenly draw the center of the head and eyes, you like to draw because you are good at it, I hate this crap >>7750077
>>
>>7750110
Don’t draw if you hate it. If you hate it now you still won’t like it when you have more skill. You have to enjoy the process for it to be rewarding.

To have fun, you or at least someone else needs to love what you draw. If they make fun of you or just ridicule you, you naturally start to hate them.
>>
>>7750121
Not true. Learn to enjoy the process of self-improvement and stop caring about what other people think. I don’t like what I draw much either but working on making myself better and measuring my improvement over time pleases me. Learn to be more egotistical and stop using other people as your measuring stick.
>>
>>7750126
The whole fucking /ic/ is full of cattle who measure by others, you wrote what I said, you get pleasure from self-improvement, I am not improving, I can’t and don’t know how to draw a head normally, how to set the forehead, how to draw the hole between the eye sockets in the turns, eyes, ears, etc.
>>
>>7750132
Then practice more or quit. Bitching about it does nothing for your situation.
>>
>>7750136
Excellent advice, but why didn't you quit drawing when they told you that? Or maybe they didn't tell you because your drawings were good and people liked them, you talented rot
>>
>>7750148
I kept practicing and I continue to do so. I won’t ever quit. I have been insulted and laughed at here plenty of times but I will always keep working.

what are you having trouble with anon? are you trying to draw faces? it looks like you are trying to draw a mix of realistic faces and anime faces
my advice is to take your time- there is no need to rush
use references from irl and from artists that you like
>import ref into program
>break each piece into basic 3d shapes
>go from big shapes to small
>the goal here is to make simplify your reference and understand the building blocks that make up the reference
follow guides or books i can reccomend a few if you wish

general tips for drawing faces in order of difficulty in my opinion (starting with the easiest at the top)
>be consistent in your practice
study the human skull
>sphere for back of head
>cylinder for face
>study facial proportions
>learn rule of thirds
>study how to draw different face shapes (i would reccomend finding irl references for this one, but there are a few artists who are good at drawing unique facial features)
>study different race's facial features and phenotypes the different beauty each race provides the world makes shit very interesting (use irl references for this one too)

all because SHE wanted to do was to taste HER own semen without being gay so SHE accosted some drunk dude waddling down the street and made him taste it but then SHE got too curious and decided to go for a snowball fight

guessing that means "just post it, faggot"

first: i'm completely self taught, never followed any curriculums or prompts in my life. started drawing with graphite about a decade ago and never tried coloring anything at all. hated paint.

ok so im not working on structure and proportion right now, so i roughly blocked out this self portrait from a reference

i'm working on light, color, and reflection

do these sunglasses convey reflection or does it just look flat like a decal?

I read somewhere that the hardest part of learning anything is the first step. Getting over that initial self loathing is extremely difficult. Accepting that we are shit is okay, but knowing what about it is shit is the more important part. If your noses suck, draw 50 noses by first studying from a book.
>>7750699
I can't help you physically. If you're still a prebeg, then my best advice is not to be too ambitious in what you can draw. It's about the smaller victories, and one perfect arm study should feel amazing. Break down things you see, a cup is a cylinder with a half donut shape for a handle glued onto it. Practice the simple forms, and that should help. Drawing cool stuff comes later. Right now, I'm neck deep in Inktober, and it's extremely performative. I don't really like it, and it takes away time for me to improve. Try to not stick to one drawing for more than 10-20 minutes at most, I'd say 5-10 minutes for smaller studies at most is optimal. There's a bunch of tutorials online that will help you. I don't particularly like youtube, but sometimes there's stuff on there that are actually okay. Just remember, it's there to keep your attention, not to improve your skills. That's how corpos make money. Also, try doodling in a sketchbook, which is just for you. Don't show it to anyone else you aren't comfortable with, and use it as a meditative practice tool. Just drawing basic forms on paper will help more than giving your time away to leeches like Google and Meta.

This is really good, and it doesn't surprise me. You'd be stunned if you saw how creative a few kids are. In a classroom of 25-28, this would be roughly one or two, though. I used to teach a lot of elementary school kids back when I studied. From what I've seen in my career, their parents are usually extremely supportive, which leads to a positive feedback loop.

I don't get it, but I assume it's just autistic schizo rambling.

Btw: good artists probably never received any sort if assistance. Just get a book or two and *see*.

I'm European, so that's gonna be a tough sell for me, to work as a teacher over there. My salary is low, but at least here I have free healthcare, automated taxes, better purchasing power to cost of living, and not to mention roughly 150 days of holidays. There's much more I could write, but that's the big points. I'll have to pass, sorry.

I used to be on their server and it is soul crushing to see the difference between wholesale talented artists with the time and support to invest into art and the permabeg hobbyists.
Bans nsfw and anime in the server because it is filled with very fucking talented children.
You would have kids complain about how school was boring, mum took away their roblox and then post a motherfucking oil painting.
I had to leave for my own sanity after being mogged left and right by children half my fucking age with insane talent who also had the time to draw and also because as a wagie permabeg I could barely complete a tenth of the work these guys did with their fucking eyes closed.
>>

>da Vinci: "some see, some can be taught to see, some don't see"
Yeah, talent exists and some of us permabegs with no spatial awareness are megaturbofucked.
Several here who draw on and on but never get it "right" because they cant see.

If you are actually on the fucked up side of the spectrum (face blind, no spatial awareness) you need to find another way to draw that has nothing to do with what your eyes see, try tracing a 3D model or joining your local tism art club.

https://www.newscientist.com/gallery/drawing-autism/

Dont worry about being /beg/ or not whats truly important is to have fun, just look at /draw/ they all beg as fuck
>>

>joining your local tism art club
Literally the worst possible thing you could do unless you want to remain a permabeg trapped in a hugbox.
>>

Unironically, there is a very good correlation between face processing skills and the ability to draw... Which makes sense if you were to, say, draw a face, but up to a point. The determining factor could be more closely linked to the ability to store long term memories, like remembering how muscle groups interact. A lot of artists develop good memories through practice and repetition, but it's notable that certain people able to easily acquire and store long term memories (the ability to recall elements necessary to a given context correctly) do seem to have a greater advantage when learning to draw. There's a bunch of studies that have this conclusion, but it's not yet too definitive as to say, this is the reason why. The ability to draw will adjust according to how you're able to remember different elements, holistically (as a whole) or by features (singular elements like noses, eyes, etc.). There hasn't been any longitudinal studies on this yet, as it's quite a niche idea.
Talent is basically sort of bullshit, it's more likely the ability to store memories, and how well the artist is able to adjust their holistical perception to their feature mode observational skills and back, but it's not really conclusive.
>>
>>7750900
then why are some artists good at drawing faces and nothing else
>>
>>7750901
>A lot of artists develop good memories through practice and repetition
It's a bit like me repeating one sentence over and over. At a certain point, you'll be able to tell it backwards from memory.
>>
>>7750900
>Talent is basically sort of bullshit, it's more likely the ability to [insert intrinsic untrainable skill here]
Interesting...

Unless you're below 80 in IQ, most creative skills can be acquired through perseverance, but yes, your assessment sort of correct, though a little too simplistic. If I tell you "this is how the deltoid connects to the arm," would you then instantly know this by seeing it, or do you have to repeatedly draw it a few times to get it memorized. What about a different orientation and perspective? That's why training shapes and forms is more important than drawing your hip OC #325 and not improving.
The ability to learn, storing memories, is correlated to learning anything. Nevertheless, you can't teach a person with severe mental retardation how to draw the abdominal muscles from recollection. It's hard enough for people below 80 to recall how to spell out "exclusionary" out loud without having to actively recall the placement of letters to phonetics.

Both this thread, you, and the board would greatly benefit if people actually used the other generals whenever appropriate.

Not sure if the jannies decided this place would be a containment zone, because it is horrible to use as it is, and only 10% of it is really on topic.

A lot of the generals have too much overlap. Why does /asg/ even exist when /beg/ can serve the same purpose? What the fuck is /alt/ when 80% of the art is just anime? /dad/ should be nuked or sent to /soc/ since it's just a social club. Only /lsg/ has a claim at being its own general since that's the designated dumping ground for loli porn. /ic/ could be tidily consolidated into two or three generals given how slow the board is.

even for anime and stylized stuff, you need to portray the convex form of the eyes

also proportions of the eyes, you can be more free with stylized stuff, but needs to be in moderation

learning that they're bowl shaped and thus that the light part of the eye is actually opposite to the light source was useful. also you should draw limbal rings, that is, the black ring around the iris, usually makes it look better.

tree branches can be very abstract

some good things to do are to fade the receding branches for depth, you also need to be aware of overlaps and where the branch ends
>>
>>7751048
Aggregating everything into a single general is not really a good thing. Regardless /beg/ is used too much if anything, as people (often /int/s, even) will just come here and post doodles, gossip, or bait (in a fucking art board).
