I want to get into animation and don't know what to choose between 2D animation or 3D animation. I have a lot of experience in 2D drawings and already know the fundamentals of art, but 3D animation looks more creative.
>>
I used to animate a little in 3d and i can tell you its way too technical, if you dont like that then stick with 2d, the good thing about 3d is that once you complete a scene/model you dont have to re do it ever again, problem is making it, with 2d you just draw it and thats it, it may take longer than a 3d animation with premade assets but its more simple.

Hope it helps.

just do both, a lot of people learn both, you can use 3d for 2d in a ton of different ways like just for camera setup shots and animatics, and you will literally save years of your life, also a lot of pro artists are looking at cascadeur, is not 100% there yet but some call it the only innovation in animation in decades

>OP, what's your goal?
If it's a career then choose 3D, if it's just hobby then 2D is fine, if you wanna work in the anime industry thru Xitter, then 2D.

Can someone expand on this? Is it actually hard to utilize or just simply hard to learn and easier once you get the hang of it?
> the good thing about 3d is that once you complete a scene/model you dont have to re do it ever again
That's actually one of the main reasons I was considering 3D since you don't have to depict the same things over and over again and also like you said there is so many premade assets online.

i use 3D because i cannot draw worth shit. chatGPT is the only reason i can do anything with blender. try buying a premade model from an existing artist and then try posing the character. BlenderGuru's donut tutorial is the place to start. watch his brick wall tutorial too.

2D animation is for massochists. would you rather struggle through learning a GUI or draw 25 frames per second of animation yourself?

that's a really odd thing to say, if anything i'd say it's the opposite. but do whatever interests you most, there are likely more jobs for 3d

How does ChatGPT help with blender?

instantaneous hyper-specific technical advice, rather than crawling through faggot youtube videos that spends the first 5 minutes of the video explaining what blender is, its history, and why it's good, and then segwaying into the raycon or factor sponsorship.

if you must watch youtube videos, watch videos made by indians. they are extremely efficient with your time.

Most of the difficulty comes from the modeling itself. Animating isn't super complex. Advanced material work often ends up in technical artist territory.
