I drew this up in 5 minutes and ive only ever drawn in class. Ive never taken art seriously that much but seeing this has made me realize maybe i do have potentialif i do try making a full piece, i always end up fucking the head up and not finishing it. do you guys have any tips on how i can get better at drawing? I know the face looks mediocre at best but i want to draw much like the creator of Hello Charlotte and also those east asian artists i see a lot. Any tips and tricks i should know?
>>7755372>do you guys have any tips on how i can get better at drawing?which of the general threads' resources you've tried so far?anyhow best tip and trick is to not get involved with /ic/ beyond getting the resources and leaving
>>7755372use reference. draw on paper, ideally start a sketchbook and fill a page or 2 daily with a mix of observational sketching(ie draw your hands, draw them in a mirror etc) and imaginative.
Tips? Bro there's no shortcuts in drawing, the only improvement you will see is going through studying and applying what you've learned to your drawings. That's it. Well so far it worked for me at least. You can absolutely draw for fun, but if you want to reach your potential then you have to study or else you're going to improve slowly and it'll discourage you greatly, that you've spent so much time drawing but not seeing any improvements because you only drew in your comfort zone, not challenging yourself. There's a lot of resources to choose but personally as for beginners start with Dynamic Bible/Sketching by Peter Han.
>>7755376this is my first time here
>>7755381my bad, as for tips i kinda meant which direction to be pointed too, and thank you for recommending that to me, will be sure to check it out when i need to!>>7755380gotcha, imaginative seems fun actually, might want to start on that
>>7755381>study VS drawing for funtry studying for fun permabeg
>>7755372>Ive never taken art seriouslyIt shows
>>7755384Also have fun drawing, I forgot that grinding is one of the most common thing that contributes for quitting drawing
love it, the eyelashes are very charming and it does remind me of etherane (?)'s style a bit :-) please find a lot of fun and joy drawing and don't let cynicism or fame chasing take that away from you, keep it fun
>>7755387based snarky chad strikes againnow spread your ass gay slut I need to cum for the fourth time
>>7755388i'm quite ready for the grind, just need to study all this and maybe get down different orders of what i do
>>7755386That's absolutely my bad for not accounting that. And i am having fun with drafting.
>>7755390that is the best compliment i've heard in my entire life, for you i shall continue to draw. Thank you
im actually doing all of this on ms paint

>>7755372>I drew this up in 5 minutes and ive only ever drawn in class.Your art reflects your skills. You are a beginner. What's the point of this thread?
>>7755406i want to get better at art, of coursei need tips and guidance so i dont end up screwing myself and my art over in the long run
>>7755408Read the sticky then. No sane person will waste their time theaching an internet rando how to draw.
>>7755408Capitalize your Is, sub-human pile of shit
>>7755372>do you guys have any tips on how i can get better at drawingYes, but they all essentially boil down to, make a bad drawing, analyze what when wrong, try again using your insight and helpful resources to correct the problem, keep doing this again and again. Everyone claims to have the answer or the right pedagogy, but everyone is different. Take advice with a grain of salt and follow your heart as corny as that sounds. Make drawings purely for you while you have the opportunity

>>7755399No. Download Krita. It's free and does everything paid programs do. Wacom screenles standard paper size drawing tablet costs 60-80 bucks, wear paper on top of it. Don't draw with mouse.
>>7755437Still don't know how to use Krita, i just use IbisPaint
>>7755421i refusethis isnt even a formal conversation i wouldnt bother
>>7755434okay that does sound like good advice, im keeping that in mind.>>7755436will do>>7755442ibispaint is more user friendly actually, i prefer it more but honestly the color difference is so wide it just sets me off a bit lol
>>7755372Okay, now try to draw her from different POVs with consistent proportions with the least amount of lines possible to check the flaws in your understanding of form.

>>7755459...hot
>>7755372Buy a sketchbook, a shitty cheap one, and fill 1-2 pages daily, no need to take it seriously, just doodle and have fun.The best/fastest way to learn, is to follow a cycle of: Draw something for fun > Pay attention to what's wrong with it, or which areas suck too much in your opinion > spend a few days studying that part (if you chose hands, practice drawing hands using some tutorials or anatomy books, etc).Unless you are a masochist, going through entire books/courses will only burn you out. They are still useful resources, but use them sparingly when you need to (see method above) rather than plowing the whole thing front to back.Learn about gesture and do some timed gesture drawings if your figures are looking stiff and you want to loosen up and be more dynamic. Finally, in regards to finding your art style, you need to do master studies. Basically, gather art from artists you like, and try to copy it. Ideally, you won't just bruteforce a copy, but also try and understand what process the artist went through, even if your deductions aren't right, it'll slowly help you build a process. If the artist has drawing videos this step is even smoother.TLDR: sketch daily, do some gestures, draw for fun, analyze mistakes, and go do some studies regarding those mistakes. Make sure to have a healthy split between drawing for fun and studying.
Your cartoon busts look better than mine when I was starting.Take some advice in this thread and have fun with it.If you wanna get some pointers on where specifically to start, try doing a full body sketch.
>>7755372you drew something, so you are better then a majority of anons here. here's what helped me go from bad to mediocre:>https://drawabox.com/>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0ufz75UvHs>https://www.scribd.com/document/608834418/Gitgud-at-Illustration-Guide-for-Anonsthe gist is draw daily, and don't get burn out. you can do studies, but there gonna burn you out. copying a drawing of an artist you like is decent study, and not gonna leave you burned out like studying Bridgman
>>7755640Did someone say "fun"?
