>>7756069I'm scared of my comic being shit
>>7756069i'm scared nobody gonna care about my passion project, i have a lot of ideas in the back burners, but there never really flesh out, other then sketches.
did my big project and blew it up already after 16 months of work lmao.that was like a month ago and I'm now just drawing aimlessly at this point
just don't add american political crap into your work and your chances will increase. you people have this nasty habit of trying to get a message across about minorities and shit instead of creating something fun in its own isolated world/setting. It's always either something political or about mental illness, which is also an american thing
i got no ideas worth drawing
>>7756069I'm 24, I wasted the last 3 ish years crying and depressed over life issues. In that time people behind me, and my peers went wayyyyy fucking past me. I used to be the skilled guy or that's what I told myself, now I'm just a pre-beg bitch nigga while mfs are earning 6 figs / got their lives sorted out. I thought I'd specialize into something and gotten to advanced levels by now but I'm worse off that I was starting out. Anyways it's over my best years are behind me, all passion burnt, only envy and self-loathing.
>>7756150If you keep crying like that you’ll be OP in 10 years.
>>7756069yhea yhea great advice for the younger generations... but what about you anon ?35 yo or not how are you going to use your time from now on ? are you going to just look back and comfort yourself in self pity of what you could have accomplish or are you going to struggle and try to do something regardless of your circumstances ?
>>7756069I finished three pages of my comic, it's taking longer than I thought, I have 17 pages left and It can potentially take multiple months to finish but it's pretty fun and I will shill it allot when I'm finished with it and have it printed
>>7756074you need to make art for you. everyone else is an afterthought.
>>7756319This cope only works for so long
Definitely true, although making shorter projects/ other ideas before your main one is probably a better idea, cause you might ruin your dream project. Also studying is alot better when you actually know what to study as well, alot of my comic studies and figure drawings are better.Problem is that you might put alot of effort into to something not good. I've (mostly) finished the first chapter of my comic, and I honestly dont know if people would even keep reading it/ if its good enough to be printed cause the arts pretty mediocre, even though the people I've shown it to say the storys good. Point is though, I've gotten alot better and its given me a goal to autistically focus on getting 5 pages done a week
>>7756074Make what you wanna make no matter what, then shill allot, shill to everyone
Just fucking how? HOW am I supposed to do this without talent?
>>7756340Post pages, how can you finish 5 pages a week, Im lucky if I finish at least one in a week
>>7756326Nigger unless your a contrarian who actively pisses people off and whine that no one likes your work, the reality is someone is gonna find your shit appealing. You post on a website that has people drooling at the mouth over fucking NTR and cuckshit. Even if its niche you are gonna find a group of people that like what you do, if you doubt that then you dont have enough faith in your fellow brethren and you should work on that
>>7756349>NiggerI am WHITE, pendejo
>>77563493-5 people who express mild interest in your work after years of effort means nothing and will never mean anything
>>7756361Is it still possible to get a small following of fans
people posting on this site are among the most miserable creatures on existence, and yhea i know im here with you guys, jokes on me hurray..
>>7756367it also always comes down on what your end goal is ? become professional and be hired by a studio ? make pateron like thing and get payed some money ? do it for yourself as a hobby ?
>>7756160OP is better off than me, atleast he isn't jaded and can draw a box
>>7756369I wanna get hired by a studio but people say it's not possible. You need some sort of a following to do a pateron, I have zero
Why do you ignore that technical execution can also be part of your goal? If you have standards you're going to have to learn something there's no skipping the boring part
>>7756072If is shit you can just redraw it later. But if you wait until later to draw it, it's gonna be shit anyways. Experience >>>> skill
>>7756348Honestly its probably closer to 3-4 counting that I've gotta scan it in, and spend a few days each 10 or so pages, adding tone and words, but I aim for 5 every week, and honestly probably get 4 done more often than 5. Also I'm relatively fast compared to other people here cause my arts mid.For this short story I was getting some of these completely done during work nights (from 7-12.30), turning on music or a podcast and locking in. drawing anthros is sorta easier than humanshttps://imgur.com/a/ignorance-dtOwOf7Where as my main comic, I usually get half a page done weeknights, and then 2 pages over the weekendhttps://imgur.com/a/wealth-toil-work-progress-first-chapter-9ucpQ1JI got the time, cause I dont have a social life, I just work IT, work out and draw.
>>7756319>>7756342sounds fairly reasonable, now to overcome the dread of getting less then 10 likes whenever i post my art. I was gonna upload an old gif i made to show my appreciation. but the fucking Pixilart.com program ain't show my old .pixil files. fuck
>>7756069As you get older a lot of shit that used to matter a more when you're younger, like proving to random internet strangers that you're good at X. As you get older, your peers are married, having kids. Friends drift apart. You're having your own child now. Your parents are getting older.
>>7756069I've started multiple projects but unfortunately people don't care to see my shit. I can't even find assholes to commission for fields I can't do like music. Your audience is important. Because it feels like half of my audience are living under a collapsed building viewing my content from Saudi Arabia.
>>7756683Saudia Arabia is hardly the poorest country in that region, idk what point you're trying to make
>>7756069I have a life threatening health problem I'm waiting for surgery onBut after that hell yeah I'm going all in on my dream project I got nothing to lose
>>7756069why do you keep calling me out
>>7756069I've been working on an autistic worldbuilding project for years, I just don't really know how to make anything more out of it than just drawings and infodump images regarding the drawings. I got no mind for characters or stories, I think in terms of factions and unit design because RTS games rotted my brains when I was a wee lad, picture related.
>>7756683>can't even find assholes to commission for fields I can't do like music. YWhy is that? Isn't music the most accessible thing to commission because music by different guys is only going to add variety and won't hurt the final cohesion of the product?
>>7756750You could make a fake video game manual. Its quite a lot of fun. I tried doing something like that and ended up making a real game.Shame I completely blew it though. Finding out you actually hate a specified art style half way through development really sucks
I know OP...I know....t.34yo
>>7756773I tried dabbling with 3d modelling with the faciful notion of making vidya one day but I kind of got burned out on that when I realized how much fucking work making 3d models out of my designs actually is and how much I hate shit like weight painting etc for the models. In the time span that it took for me to make even just this simple shitty model out of this design I could have made many more drawings which is why I ended up rolling back to just drawing shit because it felt more productive to me than 3d modelling. As for making games in general, I just don't have the mind for coding etc so it is kind of a pipe dream, at least if I were to go about all of that alone.
>>7756779I'm digging the angular version more than the smooth version Good stuff overall
>>7756069I can't care about mediocre results
>>7756781Yeah, the smoothed out version has worse outline/silouette and proportions than the lower poly version.
>>7756779Your stuff looks dope man.I wouldn't sweat the code right now if you aren't up to it. Try making a game manual with mock up screenshots and stuff. It'll help you get in a mindset where you can have intent for your designs. 3d models are ass to design but isometric stuff isn't so bad if you're willing to take a Starcraft style pipeline.I'll drop a screenshot of my basically dead project. This started as nothing more than something I did after reading Vermis. I managed to make the UI entirely functional in RPGmaker of all things with stuff like candles that deplete based on health and such. What I'm trying to say is that if you start with a mock up, you might find you'll have a desire to go a bit further. I think an RTS is a lot of work but you could always start very small like two units.
>>7756799That could be an interesting direction to take the project. At the moment I am working on just making sort of faction infographics that detail their soldiers and weapons, somewhat similarly to how 40k armybooks work though there is just lore in those images, no actual rules or stuff like that.
>>7756824Keep up the good work anon. There's a book out there called the bizarre world of fake video games. Its really good inspiration for stuff like this.
>>7756829Aww shit, it's from the godhusk dudehttps://hollow-press.net/collections/plastiboo/products/godhusk-rebirth
>>7756842Its more of a collection of a bunch of fake video games like Vermis and stuff. Apple Quest is probably my favorite not Vermis one. I know eye patch wolf did a video on fake video games which is how I found this stuff.Plastiboo will always be a GOAT though
>>7756433I've read the tigress one and a bit of your main, and I like it, but I have some criticismmy main nitpick is with your characters, they aren't bad per se, but they lack appeal, in some panels they feel very flat like in the restaurant sceneone thing that is in my opinion the best in your comics is the backgrounds especially in the first two pages of wealth for toil, those are beyond kino and I hope I can achieve something like that one day
>>7756069Thanks OP I will start creating my masterpieces today.
>>7756069i wasn't aware i was supposed to have a big project... i was just going to try making some porn bucks off patreon.
>>7756360>south american>white
>>7756072you're not working on your fetishes that's why
>>7757559truth, only thing getting me through is the hot stuff I can put in mine
>>7756069another thread for beginners...
>>7756150>24Kill yourself. Time doesn't become a factor till you hit 30
>>7757610>will never get the chance to work at pixar, nintendo, fromsoft>will never get good enough due to brain crystalizing>never made any connections or got references to atleast fake itI wish I could time travel back to when I was a teenager and bitch slap the shit out of myself and force myself to work and especially specialize early instead of fucking around symbol drawing cats
>>7757592there are artist out that make comic or art projects fueled by their fetishes, Haruisky is one example who made an gallery entirely dedicated to Suzumiya Haruhi and is making bank of itor that creator named Bourne who makes comic/manga purely about asphyxiation and ryona fetishwhat OP is suggesting is that wasting time on fundies and tutorials on this hell hole /ic/ is not the way, you can have the perfect art created but if it has no intent of expression in it ,then is nothing more of another slop like AI isjust draw on your own pace and have any fetishes fuel you to motivate on your work, you'll get better the longer you drawbecause TIME can't be refunded, so better take the opportunity while you still can and able to before you run out of it
>>7756860Thanks alot for the critique, definitely gotta get better at drawing people, Im doing a fair few studies of characters and poses so that should help. The designs for my main characters aren’t interesting, and while that was sorta purposeful, as there quickly gonna change alot, I made them too uninteesting, and I might go back to add some flair to them. At least though Im gonna be able to change them alot as the story goes on, as the streamer girls basically gonna become a zombie, her manager is gonna get a very injured, and the fat waitress girl is gonna be turned into an amazonian like model, so I can look at redesigning them accordingly when these events happen soon
>>7757603Make a thread for intermediate or advanced then, don't bitch about this.
>>7756069I disagree. I’m in my mid 30s too. Mark Twain was right when he said most men die at 25. 95% of people my age basically just work, binge drink, and watch sports and gamble. No personality whatsoever, just mindless consumption. The west is actually fucking doomed. If you are above 30 and have some sort of hobby whatsoever, you are already more interesting than most. There is no better time to start becoming a better person than right now.
