Miura is pretty bad. But Blade of the Immortal doesn't look that great either. It's probably look better printed. And I don't like it's basically a Lone Wolf and Cub ripoff.
Better at what?
>>7759078Why is it so ugly? Why was it so popular?
>>7758973You're opinion is completely invalid. STFU next time please.
>>7758955>MiuraWho? Why have these asian artists got to have these funny foreign names?
>>7759082do you have brain damage?
>>7759078Understandable, I'd rape Maka too
>>7759082People projected themselves in to Soul and wanted to rape Maka
>>7758955Eichiro odaI'd post the sexy NAMI cover art but I don't have it now
>>7758955since you are asking so nicely for recommendations of good artists, here's Tsutomu Nihei, the goat from 2001.Recently he released a series titled Tower Dungeon, it really shows that he's aged, but I'd give it a read if you are an insomniac.
Otomo, naturally.
>>7759568He literally has the Hitler problem. He has only learned how to draw humans in Tower Dungeon. Architecture and non-human stuff were excellent from the start. Unlike >>7759690 that’s good with everything.
Beserk is a great story and well told visually but for me its Ikegami or Inoue.
Always felt Sadamoto was underrated as a manga artist.
>>7758955miura and samura would both rape u OP
One word. Otomo
>>7760033no he isn't, the guy gets his props
Hiroshi Hirata
>>7760202He's the guy who made blame?
>>7759700dubs of retardation.Tsutome Nihei had a style in which he drew his characters. When I say "he aged" I mean that he started doing things the easy, low effort way. Sure it's efficient how he uses his style to quickly make content, or create generically appealing things, but it has lost his personal fingerprint. I only recognised that Tower Dungeon was made by him due to the way he approaches cityscapes.
Shinichi Sakamoto’s one of my recent new faves, a little stiff but his details are god-like. Did a good Manben episode, worth watching
>>7762105Of course, manga’s about more than detailed rendering, and for pure storytelling and expressive drawings I’d put Urasawa at the top these days
>>7759568>>7759690>>7760202>>7760232>>7762105One thing i noticed is that to impress a common /ic/-fag all you need is large amount of tedious details. I like Otomo, but any time he gets posted it's just a pile of concrete/flesh/metal greebles.
Why is this thread so bitter?
>>7762298That's the board for you.
>>7762298Losers who aren't achieving their creative dreams and goals need an outlet.
>>7762298Hating on things you like is internet culture, noob
>>7761926I love Nihei's work but to say that he did not have a major problem with drawing people is just being dishonest. It's not just "style", he genuinely had trouble with expressive faces and character acting, probably because he's a sperg or something. Norihiro Yagi (Claymore, Angel Densetsu) has the exact same problem. His technical skill is very good and he comes up with cool monster designs but his human characters fell squarely into the uncanny valley for the majority of his published work. He had this way of drawing people with this weirdly grotesque baby-like head and struggled with making them emote correctly. They're still very good and I love their art despite (and maybe even a little because of) their idiosyncrasies, but they're still there nonetheless. I do think that Nihei ended up overcorrecting a little bit though. His work has gotten progressively more smooth and indistinct and Tower Dungeon is legitimately hard to read sometimes, as in I have to put in genuine effort to make out what's going on in the page sometimes. Nigga needs to stop drawing with such a dummy thick pen/brush.
>>7762296That's not really an /ic/-fag thing, it's just a "people in general" thing to make the mistake that "more detail = gooderer art"Look at how people claimed Nihei had regressed when he switched to a more minimalistic style for APOSIMZ
>>7762296>>7762854Both high detail and "low detail" compositional pieces have their place and appealIt's not one or the other, nor is it a competition with one winner>>7762298Because the OP's phrasing is bitter and incites argument/fighting amongst fans of artists like they're fucking wrestlers If it had started with a positive connotation like "Post manga artists you like" you'd have had more positive responses.
>>7762296"detailed art bad fight me"fuck off nigger>>7762298>>7762826For the same reason, I respect Olivier Ledroit, and for the same reason I respect Nihei (albeit sure, I am a little overzealous in championing the latter). They use detail sure, but they think meta-cognitively about building their art, something which very much appeals to me.hell, I ran a lecture on Nihei and who he was, as a guest in another class at the university I'm making masters in quite recently. That's probably why I was so defensive. But I do agree with you, Nihei doesn't make the most of character expressions, which is probably why I liked him so much to begin with. I'm a little worn out from seeing other students just blindly copy generic animeface characters crying/shouting/smiling in their sketchbooks, so BLAME felt very fresh.Well, lesson learned, shoulda be more positive o7
>>7763685Holy autism.
>>7763703it's called honesty and a stream of consciousness, you should try some. Not everything needs to be a piss drenched irony contest. You can change your mind, or develop new thoughts actively, by writing with other people. You can also make mistakes, and not desintegrate if you don't have a fragile ego.
