What is you Niggers opinion on James Gurney's Gouache work?
Love that Boomer cracker tbqh famalam
>>7770754I like it, but I wish he'd go somewhere new
>>7770754I love him and his blog, bless James Gurney. I learned so much from him. He's one of the few artists who runs this kind of thing who isn't a grifter, though I haven't followed the blog in years.Color and Light is a great book, too.
>>7770754hi james, please buy an ad
>>7770784What would a grifter look like?
>>7770803
>>7770754I dig it my fellow negroe friend
>>7770808ic hates him because they cant become successful businessmen with their art alone while he cant draw a kangaroo from memory or use basic construction to draw a minion kek
>>7770813>he cant draw a kangaroo from memoryit was meant to be a dog and he owns 2
>>7770813I wanna see that. Can you hook a nigger up with a link to that?
>>7770826>>7770813Holy Lord, that is badhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h4-2HRHaHI
>>7770754When the fuck is he gonna release his gouache book?
>>7770764ThisHis painting skills are incredible, but he insists on painting the most miserable looking places imaginable
>>7770764>>7771156Saw him painting in my neighborhood once a few years ago, sorry for the shitty content
>>7770784Yeah, while I may not be a fan of his recent work, he's great at painting and he looks like he genuinely enjoy what he's doing. Same thing with his videos I'm not a fan of a lot things he does or his subject matters as a whole because he's a bit bland for my taste, but there's something about his authenticity.
>>7770764>>7771156he literally created a fantasy civilization with dinosaurs in it
>>7771156he's just painting americahe can only do so much to make it look nice
>>7771291Yeah and that looks great, but a random overcast concrete intersection does not
>>7771156It's called going outside and making a painting on location in 1 hour.
>>7771156Where the fuck else is he supposed to go dipshit
>>7770754It's pretty mediocre. Gurney is one of those hustlers that exist on relentless shilling. Could probably learn how to do business from him, but his actual output is very uninspired and technically stagnant for the entirety of his career. There's absolutely zero reason to spend even a second thinking about him
His books are high quality and seem well researched but still end up being more of a photo gallery than anything educational. If you're reading a book to improve at art he would not be the first second or third choice.
>>7771746What's your first second and third choices then.
>>7771426japan so he can paint irl animes
>>7771746Better to use them like a reference than a front to back instruction book. Go to a specific topic you need help with on your current project e.g. if you're doing a night scene read the relevant page(s) in Color and Light.
>>7771746They work fine for me, you might just be stupid.
