you don't see people say "rendermonkey" much anymore
>>

coom artists are naturally all render monkeys so the term became outdated. also, i hate lindy.
>>
Nor do you see many people saying "lawl" anymore.

When he quits he will be forgotten, as he has no real legacy but repeating the opinions of powerful people about how the world works. Do you remember anything Tom Friedman or Scott Adams ever said?
>>
>>7772816

is this an insult for 3DCG artists or just anyone who shades their drawings?
>>
>>7772890
we're losing institutional knowledge. /ic/ has fallen

>Scott Adams
odd choice considering the guy has a lot to say and wrote very good books
>>
>post art with good rendering
>prompt?
>looks like AI

Who is this a drawing of?

I had a pic about an artist going to a prodigious art school for a visit and doing a short lecture and he completely blew all the student's minds. Afterwards he went to the school council, or whatever it was called, and basically asked why are students craving what should be simple knowledge of art they should already know. The council essentially responded with there aren't many good artists like him around anymore. But I can't find that pic currently, I think it was the Animator's Survival Guide author.
>prompt?
>looks like AI
Also a good reason. Most AI art has a strange look with how it renders.

Dilbert is both extremely unfunny and will not last in historical memory. It doesn't matter how many opinions people like that have; they are eventually forgotten in the same way you don't know Sterling North.

Here ya go.

Ok, but if we're drawing comparisons to the one or two greats in any genre who get to be household names for all the future normies yet to be born then he got a fuck ton closer than you or I ever will.
>>
>>7772890
It's an insult for artists who are perceived as using excessive rendering to compensate for a lack of skill.
>>
>>7773342
Not really, because the time and place he talked about stopped existing in like 1998. His thoughts were pedestrian and will remain period curiosities if that.

That's what happens when you chase daily recognition.

fucking lol m8

>>7772890
I've seen it used when talking about concept and asian artists
>>
>>7772890
Generally used for 2D digital artists who made very detailed works. Especially if it was obvious their fundies weren't great and they were spending dozens of hours polishing turds rather than churning out more drawings to improve.

I remember checking a couple years ago to see if that was still true, and that year's student showcase featured an entire room covered in gigantic papier mache dicks and vaginas.
