...if your spouse threw out all your sketchbooks?
>>
>>7773217
why he look like that
>>
Honestly if I saw beautiful sketchbooks in the garbage, I'd be tempted to just go diving maybe put some of that up on my wall if it could be cleaned up and framed. Especially if it had local colour.
>>
>>7773217
My sketchbooks are all just scribbles and studies, so it wouldn't effect me much at all personally, though it is nice to flip through and see my progress.
However if you were the type to do be elaborate finished drawings in your sketchbooks, I can imagine it being akin to all your art files becoming corrupted.
I don't upload any of my art anywhere besides here, so I'd be miffed, because all my effort and time would be gone like piss in the wind.
But the results of those accumulated efforts, my skills remain, so it wouldn't break me, but the disappointment would be immense.

As for your scenario, assuming it wasn't an accident, it'd be an immediate breakup situation; why throw out something so important to your spouse? It seems like some sick power move that's akin to partner abuse (destruction of property), or equally as bad, they are so ignorant your hobbies and passions that they just didn't know (or more appropriate to say; they just didn't care).

he is a very willful man
>>
You wanna provide some context, OP?
>>
>>7773234
yeah basically that bitch cray-cray for real.
>>
As a teen I got into fights with my sisters and because I grew up on this site, and was an edgy boy they couldn't really get to me so there were times I would bother them so much that they'd destroy my sketchbooks. One was put into the bath tub and drenched in water, another was written on with lipstick. I still have those sketchbooks though. It's really weird growing out of that and having to be a human being instead of an asshole though.
>>
>>7773217
without watching the video yet: my first thought is that there must be an incredible amount of disrespect involved to do such a thing.

That said I sometimes part ways with things that are somewhat important to me. I shreddered some of my most unique works just to get some space and threw away dozens of notebooks.

It stings a bit, but you cannot keep those anchors around. Nobody cares but you - and you have no reason to care for your scribbles.

Perhaps one day my childhood works would be more valuable than my real current work if I became a van Gogh - but I will not.
>>
>>7773237
if you still have it, let's see it
>>
>>7773217
>if your spouse threw out all your sketchbooks?
I would beat this bitch up, in minecraft, of course.
Its not even about art itself, loosing newer, better sketchbooks wouldnt be as bad.
But loosing my early sketchbooks (i used loose pages in the beginning but thats not the point) would be bad and if the bitch did it on purpose, help her god.

mirin, actually.

not sure I understand?
>loosing my early sketchbooks (i used loose pages in the beginning but thats not the point) would be bad and if the bitch did it on purpose, help her god.
what do your early sketchbooks mean to you?
>>
Chill, have a glass of water and put on my Wraya record of course.

My wife wouldn't do that intentionally. In fact, she collected a bunch of my old drawings I didn't much care about and bound them into a book for me. I'd be irked, but forgiving. My kids share my sketchbooks, though. They would be seriously irked. If someone other than their mum disappeared their work, they would be murderous.
>>
>>7773234
his wife is a moron who referred to his sketchbooks as just "books", asked him if she should throw them away and he said yes because he thought that she was talking about some random artbooks or something and he didn't realize that until it was too late
basically a woman moment
>>
>>7773217
just scan them and have multiple backups
>>
>>7773254
Sounds like she didn't know him.
I have about 30 complete sketchbooks, I'd be pretty upset, probably 30 million dollars worth of artwork across them.
>>
>>7773276
oh well, look at the proud mouse with his stack of cheese
>>
>>7773254
>didn't even check what books she was throwing out
sounds fake, but if not, he's retarded for giving it the all go without checking first
even if you know all your artbooks are worthless, surely there's at least one or two you might want to keep or swerve through before giving it the A-OK
>>
I wouldn't care. I don't draw on paper.
>>
>>7773217
He's a grown ass man he can do his own cleaning
>>
I don't have sketchbooks, I've drawn on A4 printer sheets, both sides, for 7 years. it's like a big haystack that I taped together into a big cube. I'm tempted to get rid of it
>>
>>7773326
He has his art in published books and is decently notable (300k subs isn’t nothing)
He could have picked a bunch of his sketches for his own art book
Sucks to suck i guess, but i wouldn’t have made a video about my spouse like this unless i was already divorced
>>
>>7773217
I would get my wife pregnant as punishment
>>
>>7773217
I think it'd be cool if my porn sketchbooks were into the wild and some hobo just got to keep them in a rat shrine in some sewer next to his tin box, ursty knife and moldy, crusty sock.

>>
>>7773217
for me to ever have a spouse I'd have to be a totally different person. It's impossible to say how I'd feel about it, or if I would have ever started drawing at all.
>>
>>7773356

>>
>>7773361
I've never really dated, and the last time anyone expressed even a slight interest in me was almost 15 years ago. Drawing is only a recent thing for me and I'm a long way from being considered good at it.
>>
>>7773217
Divorce time. That's an unforgivable act, maliciousness pure and simple.
>>

Stop letting them see your degeneracy, tableguy.
>>
>>7773217
I'd throw the bitch out.
>>
>>7773217

dunno
>>
>>7773234
>>7773249
It's about the sentimental value. "Newer" sketchbooks depending how far you are in doing art can be just initial sketches that would be later used in actual pieces, so if you lost those I mean it suck but the idea is probably still fresh in your head or you already did the big piece already.
But earlier shit is recorded memory. Even if it's cringe it reminds you of what was going on in your head back in the day. It's the same as throwing out a photo album that you made last month versus 20 years ago.
>>
>>7773217
I can't even imagine destroying a piece of someones life like that. If I hated my girlfriend, I would simply stop interacting with her.
>>
>>7773254
I've worked with people like that. Some people are just not born with any sense of critical thinking. You can tell them to do something and you have to be very specific and tell them NOT to do something destructive that would technicall fall under the original command.
>>
women will throw away USBs and hard drives without considering that they contain information. Its just boxes to them.
>>
>>7773217
kind of his fault for not scanning all of it and turning each sketchbook into a neat pdf. The guy never heard of backup apparently.

>miscommunication from both parties leads to them accidently throwing out all moldy books including his sketchbooks during a move to new place.
Funny how everyone here made it a point to omit this fact. It wasn't malice (he told her to throw all the moldy artbooks away when she asked him) and neither asked the appropriate questions to prevent this form occurring ( does moldy artbooks include stuff you've/I drawn? ) it was a genuine mistake at the end of the day.
>>
>>7773621

he did. he scanned most of his sketchbooks.

I sincerely believe an overwhelming majority of human artistic output sucks ass and isn't worth keeping, and when it'll come to it nothing I've drawn will survive me. Maybe an anon or two have saved some of it but they'll overwrite it with prime cunny when their hard drive gets full.

I'd still be mad because she threw out my stuff but the same kind of mad I'd be if she threw out my shoes or gave my books to the poor before i finished reading them
>>
>>7774591
this chinese guy whos lost all his sketchbooks probably only made shit art too. i doubt she threw away anything of real artistic value. probably nothing that even came from his soul just formulaic money making shit.
>>
>>7773254
And he's a moron for not confirming what the fuck she was talking about.
It goes like this
>Hey, I'm gonna throw away some books. Do you need any of them?
>What books?
>Jesus fucking Christ woman these are my sketchbooks, don't fucking throw them away.
It's that easy, but no it's just impossible for some people.
>>
imagine your own wife doesn't cherish and value the literal art you work on. Imagine if your mom threw your sketchbooks away, would that be okay?
>>
>>7773254
>letting someone else clean your work room/area
Both are at fault.
>>
>>7774929
>clean your work room/area
they were in storage because he was moving house
>>
>>7773217
I would get quite disappointed.
Cuz that'll be part of my work of life that gets accumulated over the years
>>
Really it is his responsibility to store sketchbooks in a way that helps them avoid mould, even if Singapore has a lot of moisture in the air, you can get temperature-controlled storage bags. It sounds like these books were fairly well gone before they got tossed.

We the jury declare Mrs. Teoh *NOT GUILTY*!
>>
>>
>>7773217
if it was a mistake by his wife and no one is to blame here, making a video about it is gonna make her feel guilty
>>
>>7773217
Hate to see a lesbian couple struggling
>>
>>7773254
Some people do this maliciously, in order to take advantage of your good will & deprive you of the opportunity to stop them. They know you trust them, communicate in ways that are technically accurate, but misleading, and then do something detrimental to you & play dumb when you inevitably have a negative reaction.
>>
>>7775368
>making a video about it is gonna make her feel guilty
Well yes, but thats what happens when you marry the "vlogger" type of people. Suddenly your relationship becomes scrutinized by random people on the internet.

Thats why you neve rmarry bloggers, male or female
>>
>>7775716
its all cute when this person brags about you to their 2 gorillion followers or whatever... until you commit a mistake and now the people who have a parasocial relationship with him/her think youre the devil incarnate
>>
>>7773632
It takes a certain amount of disinterest in your partner and disrepect to not know to just throw away the sketchbooks you commited your whole life to. It is obviously a way for her to lash out while still having an out to hide behind a mistake. Probably jealous of the time he spends away with urban sketcher groups. Not saying he is innocent staying in a relationship like this, but shitty spouses do this all the time. There is not a chance in hell my gf would throw away any of my sketchbooks without double and triple checking - any normal partner would do that. It takes an insane amount of resentment to do what she did.
>>
>>7775311
She's extremely guilty. She must think he's cheating when he goes out to sketch and is jealous that all he does is sketch and review artbooks all day long while she has to run the hawker stall.
Mrs. Teoh is a terrible, terrible person. She probably didn't even feel bad about it, probably happy actually. Next time she's going to throw away his paints.
>>
>>7775311
In a relationship it is not really about "you should not letting them get moldy", but how your actions will affect your partner. He obviously got severly depressed about it and if that comes as a big surprise to you as a partner, you do really suck. More so if you knew how is reaction would be. There is no good way to look at this.
>>
>>7774685
You don't need to imagine. Just get a wife and it'll happen.
>>
>>7776035
I had a girlfriend once who admired me vor my artistic and musical skills then did everything to sabotage my hobbies stop me from spending time on them. Happens very frequently and I see it all the time. Found one that is supportive though.
>>
>>7776294
Yeah it's called a shit test. Women do it subconsciously. They evolved to keep testing if you're really the best. Like those birds that destroy the nest to see if the male built it sturdy enough.
>>
Thanks for the shotty bait thread to remind me I ought to be drawing. Smell you later, faggots

>>7775975

Nice mind reading
Nigga, you dont even know this woman, nobody here knows her. Nobody knows her personality to know wether this would be a calculated trick or a genuine mistake.

>should i trhow out these books?
>uuuh yeah sure

Seems like a communication problem.

>Probably jealous of the time he spends away with urban sketcher groups.
Probably shes cheating on him and his second man told her to throw away his sketchbooks to fuck with him :000000

>Not saying he is innocent staying in a relationship like this
We dont even know what their relationship is like lmao.

>There is not a chance in hell my gf would throw away any of my sketchbooks.

a) Do we even know if she knew the content of those sketchbooks? she just called them "books"

b)Wether your gf would do X or Y is irrelevant. Seriously "muh gf" anons are insufferable.

>It takes an insane amount of resentment to do what she did
Yeah it takes a lot of resentment do commit a mistake.
>>

>>
I cant believe you guys are so retarded that youre making me defend a woman
>>
>>7776500
Shut up Mrs. Teoh.
>>
>>7776489
It doesn't matter who she is and how he said it. If you don't know your partner would get depressed if you throw away all his sketchbooks knowing that he makes urban sketching his whole personality you are a terrible spouse, no matter who you are or who your partner is. That is the most generous interpretation of this, because she probably knew exactly how it would make him feel. For that last point, yes it is pure speculation and you would need to know the person.
>>
>>7776489
>Do we even know if she knew the content of those sketchbooks? she just called them "books"

She knows the difference between a book and a sketchbook. I am pretty sure Teoh's wife does too. Playing dumb doesn't really absolve you from guilt, unless she is literally retarded
>>
I despise the female species who only view art with positivity if it heightens their status. I despise lack any artistic taste.
>>
>>7776498
I literally know Mrs. Teoh you stupid asshole.
>>
>>7776567
