Thinking of going to art school. Should I make a portfolio first or get to know people? Do you guys have any suggestions?
I'll be honest, Art school's a scam, you can learn most things already by yourself
>>7774138To get to know people you need to get accepted. To get accepted you need a portfolio that's good enough for them, so that'd be first. However, at the same time, I think all art schools who ask for portfolio are scams (more than the others I mean).Like, these faggots will only accept people who are ALREADY good, so they can just cruise for a couple years, and then they can take all credit for having taught them. Show me an art school that can take a stickman howie and turn him into michaelangelo, and you'll have found one worth going to.Also, if all you want to get are art skills, you are better off learning elsewhere, they won't teach you any magic you can't teach yourself for far far less money. At best, art schools will let you make friends if you aren't too autistic, who MIGHT get industry jobs and MAYBE remember you so they can get you nepo-hired.
>>7774138go to youtubetype "(art school you plan going to)+accepted sketchbook"And while you are at itsearch on google "Indeed + Job + (college program that you will enroll in)"

>>7774138...how do you plan on "getting to know people" when you need to submit a portfolio, then take the exam and interview?
What are you expecting? Are they even teaching what you are interested in? Check the teachers work. What are the graduates doing today?
>>7774188You can email the staff and do an interview.
>>7774220that's not a school lmao
>>7774221Are you speaking from experience? Every educational facility I've been to, you can email the staff and talk to them during office hours.`
>>7774657that's not an interview, retard
>>7774176Bruh this bitch can't draw
>>7774143>I'll be honest, Art school's a scam, you can learn most things already by yourselfthis, unless you IRL art friends, also art hoes are ok on a lonely night.
ironically you can only draw well if you love it, so if you have to go to school for it then you don't love it enough to do it in your free time, meaning you won't make it.
