Hi anon, I ordered a wood carving starter kit to play and experiment. It arrives next week, but I thought it would be cool to share this ahead of time in case anyone else wanted to pick one up in order to join in and try a different artistic medium.I have some ideas about what I want to carve but I haven't really given much thought about how to approach coloring and detail work.I'm not 100% certain this is allowed on this board, but the rules only say visual artwork and I think this still counts? I apologize if I'm mistaken.
It's probably allowed but woodworking sounds more like a /diy/ thing, this is the board for bitching about social media.
>>7780304i order a wood carving kid from temu last year, on December, but it never came and got 5 bucks in credit, it was a sign, it's not time for me to crave wood. but next paycheck i will check it out again, maybe it's time
>>7780304I've always wanted to try whittling, something about it seems so laid back - but I'll probably only try it once my beard grows in, greys, and is swaying back and forth along with myself in a rocking chair as I relax in retirement. So one day, but today is not the day; but do show us what you make, anon.
>>7780304/diy/ has woodcarving threads on occasion, hope you like spoons
>>7780304What a coincidence, I got myself a set for pumpkin carving.
>>7780328>>7780807I saw there are some tangentially-related /diy/ posts, but I'm more interested in carving and decorating wooden art pieces rather than creating something utilitarian like a spoon.Sometimes I dream about little weird looking creatures and I want to try carving them a totem.
>>7780992there's a romanian woodcarver that posts in /trad/ sometimes, but otherwise you're shit outta luck, barely anyone here even uses a pencil
