Finally getting back into digital after a long hiatus.
Drew this yesterday, with some minor adjustments made today.
>>7782772I like this scene, paintings with water are always interesting, I think you could do a bit more with that reflection, showing more of the character, seems like a nice opportunity given the subject, I do like the ripples but my brain tends to question if this is something would happen in a body of water, I do remember the first thing I did on a boat scene was doing that kind of ripple effect, maybe there are cooler or more specific alternatives but this one is neat regardless.>>7782862Cool design, I am getting Yu-Gi-Oh! vibes from it. I like the way you rendered the flames, perhaps something that would help is breaking some of the pattern of the flames, maybe its feet or hands could use a large diffuse amount, or reduce it in certain areas to break repetition.
>>7782879>I am getting Yu-Gi-Oh! vibes from itnta but I see it now that you said it
>>7782879Not familiar with Yugioh so the similarities are not intentional. The design is part of an entire set of designs I've made for my worldbuilding project.
>>7771276
Idk if this will turn out well.
>>7782685Very cool. Love your colouring. Very punchy.
>>7783711Thank you, I like vibrant colors
So...a random Japanese guy asked me for a drawing of this character 5 years ago on Pixiv and I completely forgot about it. Today, I stumbled across his message while updating my profile, so I finally decided to draw her. I have no idea what became of him or if he's even still alive since it was at the beginning of the pandemic, but if he's doing well, I hope he sees it someday.
>>7784408For reference, this was my quality level when he asked me for that drawing.
>>7784550Sloppy, boring, no substance. As a concept, it's shallow. Anime girl (what a surprise) standing in a desert. You bring the camera in close, eliminating any scale or grandiosity in the environment, but then you skimp on the details with haphazard uncaring brush strokes. Really makes me wonder what the point of the entire piece is? Complete waste of time from top to bottom it seems like. Do better.
>>7784550>>7785046samefag.
>>7785046>>7785055The actual samefag
>>7784550Don't listen to those jerks, it looks really good!I wonder what the location of this piece is?
>>7785113Somewhere in the mountainous regions of central mexico near San Luis. I came across the funky looking tree playing Geoguesser and decided to paint it.
>>7785232those eyes are super misalignedcan you really not see it
>>7785236Looks fine to me
>>7785248Well, that's one reason why you haven't improved at all in all these years. Have you ever tried flipping the canvas?
>>7785255you just racist gringo
>>7785272he's right
>>7785334you should try your hand at making a comic mikey
Damn I'm washed
>>7785346quit fishing
>>7785348I mean I'm just rusty after a couple of months without drawing. It ain't that bad but it's also not good yknow
>>7785354>couple of monthsI could never
>>7785449should be two separate pieces
>>7785590I'm curious anon, how would you make it into seperate pieces? I'm aware that A2 would probably never sit with 2B or 9s so calmly but I wanted to imagine an ending where they ended up chilling.
>>7786173hmm well i'm actually not too familiar with the game but 2b and 9s look stanced up, it's a bit weird for a2 to be sitting still at their feet. i would have done just 2b and 9s as they are. and then a second picture of a2 sitting alone. maybe instead of a large platform she's sitting on a thin pillar with other shorter pillars surrounding her.
Today art is for a Vtuber friend, we did an art trade a few weeks ago.
just did some fanart of my favorite Killing Floor characters for fun
warmup for today
I suck at multiply mode.
>>7788662love this, kinda reminds me of mirrormask. blog?nice to see my gnome on the thread pic! have a warhammer WIP
>>7788164you got the angle wrong and the light on eyelids isn't that bright
>>7788689thanks. i'm not familiar with mirrormask but i looked it up and yeah it's up my alley, might check it.https://x.com/Velleity_Art/status/1987709979047100884love warhammer, space marine 2 was fun.
>>7788691No the angle is right, I just drew the eyes too high. There's a good reason why I called it a warmup and not a study Thanks for the useless critique tho.
>>7788662is the one on the left her stand?
>>7789137Something like that yes.Real body is cocooned up somewhere and she exerts her influence using the big girls (multiple) like the one in the bg, she's main villain of my setting.
>>7789035>No the angle is right, I just drew the eyes too high
>>7789172thanks for proving me right?
>>7789244Dunning kruger, ladies and gents. You are blind to your mistakes even when presented with an overlay loop. Everyone else can see how shit you are. I didn't even make the vid, someone else did>Oh it's just a warm-up, tee-heeShut the fuck up
>>7789244the angle is not right, I'll just leave it at that.
Trying digital
>>7789350ur still goated btw
>>7789310>>7789286you dont even draw lmao
>>7789350>tfw no cooli to fooliNice art tho
>>7789713Don't do it, Tomoko!
>>7789882Definitely full of problems, but I still like this
Taunie from legends Z-AAnything wonky I should work on? What would you change?
>>7789156Reminds me of blame! It takes real restraint and skill to make the eyes actually fit the right proportions. The nose and lips too. They're not seen portrayed the way you do all that often. They also reminds me of the way shinichi sakamoto and his copycats style them (pic related)
idk which look
>>7790398back one
>>7786341And another one, drawing OCs for friends is fun
>>7791475I love it, great values I think

>>7791953Looks killer. Are you the dude with that Egyptian and German woman couple?
>>7792002Yeah that's me
>>7782685Roma Invicta! Looks dope actually, it crest on galea and shield handle look a bit off.
Drawing of a white scaled norwegian female. My 2nd BG3 playthrough character. Lyset Hviteøglen.

>>7787360Why did Notch kill her?
>>7792691Anime was still considered weeb shit in 2010 and everyone hated her.
My latest drawing and my first real charcoal drawing. It was extremely fun to make. >Movie was absolute kino btw
I wanted to do more with this but I'm tired of looking at it so it's done for now>>7789433>>7789566thanks guys
something
>>7785449decided to go with a2 chilling anyways, here's a higher res version lads
>>7793643
I'd consider myself a pretty decent draftsman, especially traditionally in ballpen but I want to learn digital painting and it has been kicking my ass. Everything I make looks like shit, pic related. I drew a loose sketch of a face and did one painting below it and one using it as a ref. I know there's issues of proportion and form but mostly I want to focus on colours and values. How do I get them to not look like total shit? What should my brush settings be? Should I use an opacity brush or just a basic hard round where I cycle between colors to build form? I've been watching some Pluvium Grandis streams and I can't make heads or tails of his process, especially as someone who's used to thinking in lines. Are there any artists who start their paintings out with linework which disappears as the process goes on?Sorry for the blog, but I'm pretty lost and would like some help.
>>7793685Well, it doesn't help that you have like 3 values across all those colors. Your lineart disappears because you don't have the contrast to replace it.
R8
>>7793685My advice would be to draw more, and learn to draw in masses of value instead of lines. Like the other anon pointed out, you need a better grasp of value.
>>7793572Nice, I like her and 9S poses so I'm glad you kept her there. The lighting has a comfy vibe.
>>7782607whatever happened to the Discord?
Drew this today.
>>7782607i'm going back into existing areas in the ship and sprucing up the floor plates. trying my hardest to remove and straight lines. i've also added a second pair of detail lines to make it more 3D. something simple that i can mass produce and easily edit again in the future.
>>7793834>>7794386By lineart disappearing I meant I was asking if there's any painters who start out with lineart instead of blocks of shapes and then sort of make it disappear by rendering over it that I could learn from given my skill set. But thanks for the advice. I'll do some value and shape studies.
I love her face
>>7783329perfection
>>7793525The bodyfat % between the body and head don't match up, either face needs to be scrawnier or body meatier/less stringy
i think the chin and neck area shouldve been as simple as the arms and hands and it was with the first stroke before messed it up, i forgot one blue area below the sash and the leg lines in the bottom right arent necessary. other than that i'm happy with the outcome for my first attempt at a watercolor piece since two years. i want to do many more
I thought I could never find my way back home.
>>7794235>>7797850these are really good but try drawing larger. It looks like you're having a hard time getting the details in there.
>>7797858I mean, 12 inches isn't that small IMO. Part of it is I'm focusing hard on 'block forms' like Bridgeman, another part is that I'm keeping them under 30 minutes & don't have all my anatomy memorized yet.But what details do you see me struggling with? There might be some good insight there. Mistakes I dont see already
>>7797917>Ricochet TwooOOooooOo!kino
Anal Angels
>>7797987Lighting looks great. Do you gradient all those lights first, then add the shadows?
>>7797987nice, looks like you had fun
>>7798020I just do a base layer of colors and the default dodge brush in Krita, a color dodge layer for the brighter highlights, then play with the color adjustment settings a bit until I like it.
>>7798035I actually hate drawing so muchI'd rather be playing video games
>>7794870Tried to do a study on her head and discovered that I am still fucking beg tier when it comes to drawing faces and expressions lel. That's what you get when most of what you draw is faceless mooks or stoick soldier dudes with little to no expressions on their faces.

Thoughts on these? Anything I need to fix before printing?
>>7801252better than the lackluster cartoon style. i might be wrong but anne's torso looks slightly long, but that could just be the clothes and the reference from the cartoon with everything being noodle calarts style anyway. good job either way.
i think my colors are ugly
>>7801526idk
w.i.p. First time using krita since highschool. Got it again specifically for these thick paint impasto brushes, love the texture of them.
>>7801526Dareike, my boy. Is that you? Haven't seen you in years!
Wayfare Pig
>>7802197hey how did you know it was me, i have a different style
I'm mister impossible.
>>7804796This is something I like the small details much better than the big picture.
>>7804850Interesting, I definitely struggled with making everything fit together right with this so that makes sense to me. Do you have any advice on how I can make the whole at least as good as the sum of its parts when painting?
>>7804720I painted the most beautiful girl ever, alisa xayalith. I adore her, I really do. She's easily in my top 10 singers of all time.
>>7804873I would make the hand less realistic, more stylized, and probably larger. You also dont have any real darks. There are no strong value contrasts. I like the nose and the mouth, the hair could use some highlights though. And some more folds in the clothing could give you room for more values.
How do I make this thing look more like a slender girl?
>>7805284Narrower shoulders, neck, and limbs, slight pinch towards the waist, and -- very importantly -- dainty girl hands.
>>7805302Wonderful, thanks. I'd already made hands and shoulder smaller but clearly didn't go far enough and I was feeling pretty stuck.I wanted to make the top look a little oversized, but maybe it hides the figure too much and since I'm not showing the legs the effect is multiplied.
>>7805308>make the top look a little oversizedTo be honest, I was second guessing that change. If you don't mind injecting a lot of energy into the pose, you could keep the jacket big and just have it flare out to the sides, exposing the shape of her torso beneath.
>>7805313I'll experiment with it a little, thank you.
>>7804720Should have made her nipples harder
>>7782607Really love the X4 drawing in OP pic.
Trying colour
>>7806272Kinda makes me feel like ur a Mexican children’s book author on drugs and ur slightly paranoid or maybe like people watching you or something bc all the eyes. It’s interesting, but kinda weird and childish which is not a great combo for me. Bottom 1/4 of page is pretty boring. Here’s a crude drawing I did. I don’t draw very often because idk to do with drawings.

Perspective okay, or a bit off? Don't normally draw this kinda looking-down-on angle.

>>7809081Very nice Anon
Finished this today. Drawing fabrics that look natural when folded into clumps and what not is surprisingly difficult imo.
Opened a "new" sketchbook and forgot that I'd already started a drawing in it. Decided to finish it. This is as far as I'm going with this piece. Oil pencil.

>>7809214very nice atmosphere. i wish i could have your worldbuilding scale and effort, but i did start actually writing out a story in my own space opera 'tism, despite only leaning on historical events and other skiffy. your stuff has a very dune like feel, very imaginative. always a pleasure to see your stuff in the wild on /v/ and other threads and boards.
>>7809797you need planes on top of your forms. read faragasso.
>>7809799Thank you! I'm trying to put my sperginess into productive uses via this worldbuilding autism lel. In general the sources of inspiration I have for this worlbuilding ranges from basically everything I've found cool or interesting troughout my life be it video games, movies, literature, anime & manga and other hobbies I've engaged with. Dune is one of those sources, not necessarily in terms of the aesthetics but more in the overall worldbuilding and vibe of Noble houses scheming against one another, and of course the Bene Gesserit were a major source of inspiration for me when I began to envision the matriarchal fertility cult faction of the setting that basically holds monopoly on reproduction. In terms of the role within my setting the Sisterhood isn't really in the same niche as the bene gesserit, (as in manipulating stuff in the shadows and being sort of woman illumnati behind the nobility) as they are more overtly a religious order that is involved in the lives of most denizens of the setting because the widescale infertility issues among the populace basically means that most people are dependent on the Sisterhood and their services to have kids. The aesthetics I went for their military forces is intentionally sort of perverse because the phallic weapons and pregnant looking armor etc has ritual and religious signifigance to them.
>>7808498Coming along. Trying not to overwork parts.
>>7809858the phallic guns are a nice touch on top of all the boob armour/helmets
hi there
>>7810518Thanks. Figuring out the aesthetics of the Sisterhood was somewhat of a hurdle for me because I generally don't draw women or anything even remotely suggestive because of my own autistic hyperfixations on more militaristic stuff and general prudishness, however with the way I had developed their lore, I felt that the aesthetics had to do it justice and actually both look unique and fitting for what essentially is a matriarchal fertility cult.Getting over my own prudishness was a big part of the process of designing the Sisterhood's look lel.
>>7810577Hello there fellow artfag. What brings you to this crab bucket on this fine evening. Is that a Cyrilic filename? That intentional or just happenstance. Also , got some more png files somewhere that i could peruse during my times of leisure.

>>7810584>Getting over my own prudishness was a big part of the process of designing the Sisterhood's look lel.looks great, despite one might saying it's a little cliche but cliche's and tropes are called so for a reason. they are popular and work if done right. keep up your efforts, i hope to see it in comic form or somesuch someday!

>>7810600Thanks! Once I am done with my worldbuilding infographics I plan on trying to do some small comics to test out how well that style of storytelling works out for me.
