Is picrel good animation software for beginners? FYI I'd like to avoid dropping a ton of money on anything until I'm confident enough in my skills
Yes but you will have to find a ton of useful stuff on your own. I don't deal with it and just use CSP
>>7791460There is no good animation software. Free or not. Just use the industry standard CSP Ex
>>7791460krita is awesome, i have been using it for years.only caveats: the vector-based text system is functional but clunky as fuck and most of the time i just screenshot libre office and insert layer, color (white) to alpha strength 100. ain't got TIME for that...caveat 2: krita (and a lot of professional GUI like blender and gimp) is designed to be customizable, so you can move sections around, hide stuff, you can even tweak the hotkeys to your heart's content. the problem is that if you're still learning, you can't just watch a youtube video of someone else using krita and expect it to look exactly like your version.biggest mistake is to assume that you'll be using most of the tools. i use only 10% of it at most and haven't even ventured outside my comfort zone.
>>7791460Eh its ok. CSP EX is usually what most professionals use. But ofc it costs quite a sum but it is perpetual license
for digital illustration yes, its the best out of all the other free options, some of the design choices like how the eraser brush works is pretty funky but you can change it
wish these fags would support vulkan rendering or something so the fucking thing would run better on windows instead of being basically locked into only running well on linux
>>7791460no but I want to bang the mascot so fucking hard you wouldn't believe
opentoonz
>>7791481>>7791637really? not complaining but I would've thunk Flash, toonboom or TV Paint
>>7791460Last time I read dev's blog, they said "animation" is only for storyboard. But i guess if you want to draw each frame it is good enough
>>7793377Do whatever you want. They all suck.
>>7791460Krita, drawpile. There's many other free ones. Worst case you just pirate csp ex.
>>7791460There's Blender if you're, erh, special
>>7791460Flipaclip and Roughanimator are better on android imo but personally I'd draw the frames in CSP then paste them into those. CSP is annoying and convoluted to animate with in my experience.
>>7793091I actually do believe it though
>>7791460Affinity becoming free was the nail in the coffin of all free software, it literally blows everything out of the water, it even has superior liquify and mesh deform tools. The only thing Affinity doesn't have is special rulers that CSP has, in general it's better if not similar to photoshop, for free.Krita was a laggy piece of shit. I used to use Firealpaca, it's very nice and beginner friendly too.
>>7795902>pirateYou guys don't do this......right?
>>7796450found the fed. get out.
>>7791460Just pirate the standard that's csp exLike everyone else said already, all animation software sucks in a way or another
i want to fuck the squirrel
>>7796450I can't use clip studio on my OS but I have the exes of it and many other ones. I sometimes delete it then download it again to make them lose money
>>7791470Cheaper version is limited. Doesn't support Linux only Windows.CSP is great program for drawing but unless you spend money it's not good for animation.
>>7791460how good your animation is, is mostly a skill issue.Cause an animation is literally just a bunch of drawn frames per second.Software is proably the least likely thing to limit you unless you REALLY need some specific tools that only someone with years of experience with even know exists or how or why.
>>7791460Tahoma is free and have everything you need. bette UI for animation than csp ex
>>7806118Tahoma sucks balls, just pirate TVPaint/opentoonz at that point, it's on cgpeers
>>7791460its perfectly fine, especially as a starting point.i would recommend learning how csp works eventually though.
