You shouldn't draw stuff you don't enjoy.
I don't mind drawing weird gay shit, but my main client, who is the only one who pays me well, is now asking me to come up with weird gay ideas for his commissions, which makes me feel miserable. Would it be rude to tell him that I'm not comfortable with that because I'm straight? Also, how common is it to request a free day each week? I'm tired of doing commissions every day. I've been doing this for two years.

And I'm not just talking about smut artists. I doubt many artists take much creative or spiritual joy from designing an anthropomorphic dog dressed as a plumber for a local business, painting a food mural with ebin 80s movie references for a hamburger restaurant, or drawing two sőifaggots as Adventure Time characters for their wedding invitations or whatever the fuck. Only the lucky few artists can make money from their pure, unbridled artistic passions alone, and are typically reduced to drawing random shit that they don't care about for other people, you just have to hope that your personal portfolio is strong enough that it inspires clients to commission you to draw things which aren't too far removed from your genuine passions
