Did millennials ever stop listening to cringe like Neutral Milk Hotel and actually make any art? Are they capable of it?
Thread quality on this board has gone downhill harder than any other board I've seen in years.
>>7799711Just name one millennial artist then.
>>7799715Captain America.
>>7799718Lol. I asked ChatGPT and they gave me this Nigerian artist. It's okay but I don't see them being a millennial as being that important, and when I think of a millennial, I am thinking of the American context of fags with flip phones and AOL chatrooms and lolsorandom humour.https://www.instagram.com/toyinojihodutola/
This is the actual worst thread on the board. god this is fucking useless.
>>7799723Name on millennial artist then. I had to research it and found obscure African artists.
>>7799711>>7799723You did it OP, look at the assblassed millennials coming out of the woodwork. You got old and tired and boring and now you can't even take the bants any more?
>>7799726This is specifically a thread made to get responses and try to rally people against a funny nigerian artist you found on instagram. This thread has no merit or interesting thoughts and it will either be bootyblasted by a janitor or fall off the page at 30 replies. Absolutely low effort bait.
>>7799728I actually like that African artist though. I'm not a racist polchud and appreciate other culture's forms of art. I just don't know why millennials never had a single Picasso or Goya, or even someone on the same level as Ken Kagami or Gabríela Friðriksdóttir. Is there really no millennial artist who rose above the rest and became a staple of contemporary art?
>>7799731It's because those things literally do not matter in the current day and age. The idea of an artist who is fully supported by a patron and is able to create with impunity for galleries is a dead concept. I know because I tried to do the gallery scene for a bit. The one painting I sold was to some random guy who saw it while I was showing my painting instructor and bought it on the spot.I don't get why you'd give a shit about this idea, it's just not worth it to go that route unless you already are in money now.
>>7799728You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but to bring things back to more coherent ground: you are blown the fuck out by any negative mentions of millennials.
>>7799733Well, I'm sorry that you feel that way and I'm glad you tried. Because putting in the effort is half the battle and makes you a more interesting person overall. That being said, I have met people who do gallery shows and people have asked me if I one day want to sell prints or get an exhibit going. It's not completely impossible, it's just not as commercially viable as it was last century. If people want a speculative investment, they'll try NFTs or some shit, not a painting that can depreciate. But that means we can take the opportunity to ask: what is art really about? It's not just about a career or to break tradition into new ground and become a millionaire, but to maintain humanity.
>>7799736I don't think anyone is really looking to be a millionaire or anything with that scene, it's just that there are many, many other ways to be scene, to express your true intent, or to create what for expression. There's really just not a reason to go out and do a print to put in an expensive frame that will then sit in the corner of your room until the next show, never doing anything of interest. You can just post that online. Or better yet, put the skills towards active mediums that you're truly interested in. Why do you think there's so many animators and comic artists? It's because that stuff is far more rewarding.
>>7799740>Why do you think there's so many animators and comic artists? I thought it was because it was one of the few jobs you can get out of going to CalArts or any reputable art school with an animation focus. I'm not aware of what American art is like. In my country, we just have arts funding from the government and lots of rich boomers with money who love physical art, theatre, or ballet.>It's because that stuff is far more rewarding. You still work hard and get exploited, right? Animation isn't easy and you work long hours.
>>7799748If you're intending to work in that industry, but most people animating now have decided to just forgoe the industry altogether. People CAN also just do these things because they love it, much like I spend alot of time studying Luigi Colani and designing for feel and touch rather than minimalism.
