Whats the best way to create appealing (anime) characters with only a few bells and whistles?I'm attempting to make a Peggle clone using loli waifus instead of Masters Picrel concept sketch for a tomboy girl based off of Jimmy : )
Be sure to vary your eyes on different charactersHave a few archetypes covered, even a couple you are eh about personallyWhat kind of design stuff are you looking for advice on? Color?I will say your anatomy definitely needs some work but I like your lines otherwise
>>7800108Learn to animate. Not joking.
>>7800112kinda what im focusing on the most is archetypes and eyes Y_Ynot really color, but what tends to stand out most design wise i guess? idk what im asking for desu. i know solid shapes and utilizing empty space and recognizable silhouettes and all that garbage but what draws people to like designs from a general company and not just just the art itself ? like you still recognize and find say frierens design a lot even if a shitty artist renders it, yknow?
>>7800126Okay I will help a bit,For eyes, draw them in deliberate shapes. These jkind of shapes can be like rounded for a happy character or sharp and lower for a tsundere character. Just lost my tablet pen earlier so I drew this with my finger lolI think for making characters look different it is helpful to break the eye into different shapes and go from thereFor standing out, the best way is to make your pic and make it icon size and see if you can still easily recognize your character. Can you tell who it is? Good, if you cannot and it seems muddy, the design may need work
>>7800114This is actually legit advice. Also, learn and make a habit of regularly practicing gesture drawing to improve your eye for abstraction and shapes. It's why animators often do gesture drawings to get better. The benefits bleed over
