My handwriting SUCKSWhich is weird because I've been writing for decades and only have been drawing for the past five years but it SUCKS.Should I just give up on writing for my funny comics and use a font? That will look robotic but at least it'll be legible

That will look robotic but at least it'll be legibleMost just use fonts these days anyway, you do realise there are hand written cartoon fonts that exist, right? That said, take a look at the famous artists course, and probably the famous cartoonists course, I believe they both have sections on drawing fonts, type, and handwriting - and the like.Your issue just likely stems from the fact that you're not using guides and aren't giving thought to the spacing between your letters. Write more slowly, and deliberately.
>>7803602>>7803602How do you usually letter your comics? because most artist don't free hand it. They use specialized tools for consistency. Get yourself an ames guide and practice making your letters the same width and size, and pick a couple of comics that you like and find out who did the lettering for them. you can also make a font of your own handwriting and change the letters here and there so it doesn't feel so mechanical. Really you have a lot of options. I'll leave some guides so you can get an idea for wt you wanna do:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4K4-7vR-TEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esEtcPaET0A&t=13shttps://kleinletters.com/LetteringTop.html (award winning comic letterer)https://balloontales.com/category/tips/lettering/ (also award winning, they've done logos for just about everybody)
>>7803602>My handwriting SUCKSSo fucking practice at it. Take your time and learn to refine it. Imperfections add charm anyhow.
>>7803715This + get an ames lettering guide. Take your time and write slowly, trying to write quickly without first getting the motions down is just going to make your letters look sloppy.
