Thoughts on crayons I mean oil pastels
>>
Only good ones are the eggspensive buttery smooth ones from Sennelier. They are like lipstick

Ugh, these and pastels drive me up the wall. Don't know what it is, but something about the mediums I absolutely love. Too dirty feeling, perhaps?

I never tried them but I really want to. I tried using crayons from over a decade ago that I found and they kinda sucked obviously, but I felt like they had potential.

They are fun but it's a waste of time and money.
Buy acrylic paint instead.

fine if you want your work to look like something done by a gradeschooler. no exceptions.

Don't tell me that you think this looks good, even if the photo being poor resolution might help it lose a bit of that oil pastel trademark qualities.

Wow I googled looking for examples and even the good/absolute best oil pastel art just looks like it would have been better in another medium

There is a charm to it, it looks like the perfect medium for a children's book.
Not something I'd ever use for serious work though.
>>
the worst medium, messy and uncooperative

Mine was without the best of the best oil pastels,
If you google the brand the 1st thread reply said you get good results, if you google oil pastel art and look at every single result for 10 minutes the best you will find is my picture
So basically oil pastels are only worth doing if you buy the best of the best brand nothing else seems very worth it
