Post your first few drawings from this year and the last few ones. What did you learn this year? What do you want to get better at next year?Did your style and taste change?
i want to do more imagination exercises after getting better at observation, ergo, drawing something and then drawing it again from memory, which is a lot of busywork, but i think it will pay off. i'm proud of my journey this year and this example is just from the last few months, but it's still a noticeable jump i think.
>What did you learn this year?Feels like I learned everything I currently know. I didn't know much at the beginning, and what I knew I kinda had to relearn, cause I realized I was thinking about stuff the wrong way.More abstractly though, that just hunkering down and pushing through that feeling of being bad/regressing will get you far. Further than getting discouraged and stopping anyway.>What do you want to get better at next year?I wanna focus on color and rendering and actually doing a lot of finished pieces after spending a lot of this year just doing line studies.>>7812637Very nice progress! Lotsa improvement in conveying lighting especially
Did the first drawing, gave up pretty fast, came back and did the bird with a course. So far I'm really enjoying it.>What did you learn this year?Copying is fine, sit down and just draw, variety is pretty cool and to stop looking for so many resources and I guess I like furries lmao>What do you want to get better at next year?Color and Composition and backgrounds, but I also really want to learn things more properly this time, specially 3d objects, perspective, more bodies and yadayada.>Did your style and taste change? It has quite a lot I think, my little sister wanted tarot cards and I did 10 of them and I kept changing and trying so many new different things. It was worth getting out of my comfort.
>What did you learn this year?I think my linework looks better and things have more depth now>What do you want to get better at next year?My hand got fucked up in an accident, depending on how it heals and how I cope that's maybe the last year I draw anything>Did your style and taste change? Not really but sometimes I do pixel art, try copying someone else's or just do watercolors for a week when I'm bored
>>7815356what the fuck
>>7815356What course did you follow? That bird looks mighty familiar
>>7815611Brent Eviston's Beginner course, is very good, and I liked it a lot, I think he speaks about life and philosophy a bit too much, but he knows how to teach very well drawing. That's where the bird is from. Then I used The Complete Guide to Drawing Manga Anime by Date Naoto, to learn to draw my Anime girls, I still haven't finished the book tho but I really like it.The rest is just copying from Pinterest or finding references to use as idea for my drawings. Also, a lot of fucking around since I haven't learned anything about color, but I still try to make something around it.So, overall, my first year has been nothing but me fucking around and having fun and hoping that the next is more structured but even more fun.
>>7815656That manga book looks interesting I think I'll try giving it a go myself later. Thanks for answering
>>7815356i feel demoralised
>>7812551I basically stagnated all year after a rapid improvement in the first 6 weeks. Issue is I "just draw".>What did you learn this year?drew for the first time, tried a bit of coloring, experimented with line thickness, layers, multiplying, developed a technique to place eyes reliably, learned to exaggerate to develop a style>What do you want to get better at next year?Accuracy, line economy, coloring>Did your style and taste change?yes and it is still in development1/2
>>78158022/2
>>7815803Damn that is a lot>>7815356You can use your other hand it will suck in the first month if you're not patient but you can get used to it. Aside from clean lineart everything else is possible to achieve again in that time frame
>>7813494man a year is so much time and so little at the same. sometimes it feels forever ago making a drawing but it was jsut a few weeks. it's almost magical. good progress over the course of the year, senpai. its weird how being persistent for a while will move mountains so to speak. keep it up!
>>7815789shouldnt it be the other way? wagmi, anon. wagmi.
>>7820892Thanks, and yeah, consistency really is such a powerful ally. Just showing up (almost) every day, and not letting yourself get caught up in doubt does wonders. Honestly has helped me in other areas of life as well>keep it up!You too. Wagmi!
>>7812551Realism is boring. But i guess man were all fated to follow their creator
>>7821116asian women arent real thoughbeit. i refuse to believe they are
>>7812551Just recently got back to drawing after more than a year off. The main goal now is being able to control my art's expressiveness and "play with the viewer's psychology." Also, trying to capture people's likeness accurately in different angles is a huge one. I don't know if my style changed much, it's still very low energy and not very expressive when I look at it
>>7812551PC shat itself during summer so any files i didn't have uploaded somewhere is gone, so it starts from mid 2025 instead of january>What did you learn this year?Rendering, went from something I hated to something I enjoy quite a bit>What do you want to get better at next year?Drawing, specifcally at weird angles. Also backgrounds.>Did your style and taste change?Taste nah probably not, I don't think style really changed either
