Anybody have a good course on DESIGNING anime characters? Not drawing, not modeling, but coming up with the design (interesting clothes, interesting color palette, hair, etc)
>>7813381dat pic never fail to make me giggle
>>7813381and FYI, I ask because I'm a 3D sculptor (Blender).I know this isn't 3dcg, but this isn't a question about 3D at all and I figured you guys might have better knowledge of design
>>7813381Outside of function, design should be a reflection of your taste. You need to have natural inclination and curiosity to explore what fashion is already out there.
>>7813381I would like to see course like that too but unironically you should probably do what touhou series did, copy and get inspired from others... author ZUN dabbed into like 6-7 mangas he liked copied some designes not 1:1 obviously but for inspirations and made it work.
>>7813447also video about this if you like : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2sjVoG5U2o
>>7813448>heavily edited for le ebic youtuber humorgodalright I'll plow through this when I have the mental energy
>>7813452It's worth for some insights.Character design heavily depends tho, if you go for fun meaning you don't care for example about the world your character lives in or general esthetics of that world you just want pure fun then you need to search and get inspired and mix to see what will sticks. If you are building for actual world use that means you need rules and practicality and answer lot of questions. World setting, what kind of technology people use in that world to process clothing materials, what kind of purpose that clothing fits ie if it's for battle it's for every day use or ceremonial... what would be that specific character using because if you make dark gloomy character it would be retarded to give him bright shining colors unless it's suppose to be for funny scene. Etc... design is about asking questions and answering them that's why writing books that are high quality fantasy settings takes fucking years.
>>7813448newhus suck
>>7813381Look up KNKL concept art bootcampHe has several videos on shape design and how to think about Alignment, Trope and Spin when designing thumbnail concepts of your characters. This is best come digitally as you can quickly copy paste and paint over iterations efficiently
one of the best character design books I've seen is unironically>A Guide To Drawing Manga Fantasy Furries And Other Anthropomorphic Creaturesthe basic principles would work for non furry art
>>7818317anon... why did you get that book in the first place
>>7818317by the way it looks really good, thanks, but still..
>>7818328
>>7813381Look at kid/teen modelling. You won't but if you did you'd realize how much of their fashion goes into anime
>anyone have a good course on creativity?be born talented and have good taste
Art style matters more than character design. Character design beyond color theory is highly subjective.
>>7818680good design is good style
>>7818647>he thinks artists reinvent the wheel constantlyLmao no, they put together things taken from others. Congrats on outing yourself as a no-artist
>>7813381https://warosu.org/ic/thread/7738525Rinotuna and Hidari courses are for character design I believe but I've only checked the second one.
Just look up for models in pinterest, unless you're looking for a specific culture and era, there are likely books for it
>>7813381So many people forget (or don't realize) that character design is a two step process. The design is irrelevant until you come up with character. Then you adjust the design according to their personality/motives/history etc. that represents who they are visually at a first glance. I'm not saying become a writer, but think of your character as more than a design, then the ideas will come naturally, I think.
>>7813381>>7820054Don't listen to this guy, op. BE a writer. It's the correct way to do character design.
>>7818328Because I'm a stupid fucking furry man, why else would I you stupid idiot bitch
Why are there so many "guys is there a course i can watch on how to be creative???" retards on /ic/?
>>7820071Because learning the tools is the easy part. Producing actually interesting work that doesn't rely on pop-culture/porn is the remaining 95%
>>7820071I'm not creative, but maybe creativity is something I can learn from a course - Begtuber McClickbait says so, after all. It must be in a book or a video somewhere. If it isn't in a book or a video somewhere, then I'm all out of ideas and I wasted my time on this. Maybe if pay this enormous faggot with no original ideas himself money the creativity will eventually materialize. I sure don't want to have to actually think hard and long about what inspires me, so this is my best bet.I think the thought process goes something like that.
online-courses.clubjust search character design
Hitting the thread with a completely serious responseTo get better at character designer you COULD reach for some courses, Hidari's is good to learn to space out elements, balance out colors and the like, but you need to know what your character is going to be for, and I'm gonna have to hit you with the media literacy meme for that. Most artists of all kinds do not know the actual mechanics behind what makes their own character designs interesting but you'll want to look at the emerging patterns between them regardless, since they landed on those patterns for a reason. You'll have to consume more of the media you want to make character designs for to actually figure out what works, and you want to look at whatever surrounds your character to make them look cohesive. So you want to actually decide what kind of setting you want in general as well.Alternatively, just copy some of the bullshit from Genshin, it's all slop and people eat it up.
>>7813381Just copy shit. 90% of concept art is just photobashing. It's kind of ridiculous if you think about it. It's literally just plagiarism with extra steps.
>>7820071Becahss those kind of guy who say "what i need to do guys to be artist" exist in many numbeers. The thing is those guys never want to start they make many thread asking for information on skilll because tgey obsese with "collecting skill" or "collecting information" but they never use it like obsessed sith preparedness and nevee become artist.
