Not some unhinged motive to fuck a dog or something, just a simple detachment where you don't have to think about a human being even remotely being behind it. I can 100% envision myself commissioning some furry smut, but I can draw it myself, so I don't. The fact still stands, drawn art is weird with human faces on, the simple swap is probably what makes it okay for vast majority of audience. Simple as.

I might just hijack this thread and ask if it makes more sense to have anthro characters in your webcomic, as opposed to humans. Zootopia 2 got really popular, and I feel like its cause we naturally sorta like animals, and animal people. Furries make it weird, so if were to be normal like Blacksad or Zootopia, you'd get a boost from furries at the start, and then get a fanbase of normal people. I've got a webcomic I've been writing on for a while, (something similar to taxi driver cross with In Bruges), and I figured having it be in an animal world, could make it more interesting, than just humans.

Unless you are doing something that is better insulated against AI (3d modeling, animation, custom plush, fursuiting), potential customers will be less willing to overlook your lack of interest/investment/papertrail in the community.
