How many hours do I need to log to become good?I've already logged 17 hours into drawing, not including shit like reading or watching videos. I've heard that generally for hobbies 1k hours is when you get good and 10k is when you become an expert at it
Quality > quantity. Don't bother counting the raw hours, just focus on the present moment, show up regularly (every day ideally if your schedule allows) and make sure you always have an idea of the next thing you want to improve and focus on. Getting regular feedback will help with that.
>>7816804My brother in Christ unless you are on your death bed dont think about the time it takes. Enjoy yourself my god
>>7816846I am 27 and my constant anxiety about starting late is what pushes me to improve and not be lazy, I constantly think about time. I had to quit social media just because I saw so many artists that were like 16 or 19 with such good art that it almost made me nihilistic about art. If I draw for 4-5 hours a day I should be good enough within a year, assuming there are days I don't draw at all (there will be). I've logged thousands of hours into multiple games so I know it's absolutely feasible.
>>7816851Ngmi with that attitude. Just draw... but, look at your work with a critical eye, decode what didn't work, and try to improve those aspects next time. But definitely try to enjoy the process, and choose things to draw that interest you as often as you might choose to grind fundies.
>1000 hours>41 daysYou're not gonna be good after 41 days, use your fucking brain for once, how about that? Nature has no obligations to man-made concepts like "hours." If that upsets you, don't even bother doing it, because it WILL take way longer than 1000 hours to get "good," but the time taken isn't even the point. It's more about your level of interest, creativity, and problem-solving ability.Unfortunately you can't get those things by just clocking in hours, but fortunately, it does mean you might make something decent sooner than you expect, if you have the imagination for it.
>>7816804I spent over 100 hours just drawing front facing heads lol. This hobby takes about 50k hours at least to be "good"
>>7816876>I wasted time, therefore it takes forever to get good.
>>7816894Pyw
>>7816804wow 17 whole hours! proud of you anon *pats your head*
>>7816804biggest NGMI i've seen in a while. draw for fun before it's too late.
>>7816851Old folks only start learning art and paint when they retire at 65Most artists with "talent" draw the most generic fotm out thereYou have time
>>781680418 Hours.
>>7816804ngmibut for real
>>7816804its a ratio of 5x the hours of the square root of how many howie threads you make
>>7816804hour count is a /beg/ trap, for pretty much everything, not just drawing. you JUST DRAW till you finally figure out how to make lines on paper look slightly more appealing then before. but don't be an idiot and mindlessly draw, you need to use your brain....
>>7816846My eyes are getting worse every year I fear I won’t enjoy looking at screens in my golden years so I gotta make it asap while I’m still young
>draw something>I like it>realize I forgot to color in/render a small part>or I didnt add a detail on a costume>it would take 30 seconds to add in>but opening the drawing program and setting my tablet up and putting on my glove and getting the reference and entering drawing mode would take longer than that>try to do it with a mouse>end up wasting 20 minutes fighting the mouse and editing it pixel by pixelfuck my fucking life man, everything has to be hard. Who forgets a horn on a character with horns? Only me. I have some rare form of autism where I dont actually know anything, I just brute force my way through life.
>>7816804The problem is that there is no log or time to achieve and learn something. It all depends on what you are focusingIf *just* you want to draw cute anime girl face probably a few weeks practicing will doif you want to do more with art, paint something, create and etc., now we are probably talking Years, specially if you are learning on your own, without teacher or any more structured approach (and even with teacher it takes a lot of time)
>>7816846>dont think about the time it takesI lost my mom to a genetic heart condition this year and I probably have it too. I also work 60 hours a week and sleep only 6 hours on most days. Time's running out.
>>7819015Not sure how obsessing over your drawing hours is going to help you with any of those problems but if you want to pile on another stressor on top of those then knock yourself out. I get that you feel like you need to play catch up or whatever but trust me when I say that if you make it not fun you ARE going to quit and all of those hours you've already put in will just flatout be wasted. The Tortoise and the Hare is my top recommended book for you right now for your art career.
>>7816804don't go by hours. go by weight of your pile of finished sketchbooks. when it's 100kg, you will be pretty OK.
>>7816804>I've heard that generally for hobbies 1k hours is when you get good and 10k is when you become an expert at itIt's 20 hours to get good and 700 hours to become world class IF you have talent, without it you need 10k ~ 16k hours if you got zero talent.
>>7816804I don't think hours matter. I've drawn for 3k hours and I'm still low beg. If you don't have talent or someone to guide you it's already over.
>>7819066
>>7821387Just read scientific articles about it, dumb nigga.
>>7818566draw on paper
>>7824710that's not my point of disagreement you faggot, anyone with half a brain can tell you that, its your retarded take of some magic number ranges for mastery and your overall generalization of it, it's obvious you dont draw nor spent any amount of time mastering a skill
