Nobody who recommends drawabox has ever tried it Telling a beginner to try drawabox is by far the quickest way to get them to burn out and quit before even truly starting art Telling someone new to do drawabox is essentially saying "fuck you, do this until it makes you despise art and drawing and you start seeing art as a chore and quit"
Heh, you think you know it all? News flash kiddo, drawing is HARD and it's NOT supposed to be fun. It takes EFFORT and DETERMINATION. Did I hear someone mention motivation?? Motivation is a MEME you have to make it a HABIT and
>>7818280*No one GOOD has tried it
I just draw whatever I want but I do it everyday
>>7818280i'm a pretty shitty artist but i can draw 1 point and 2 point perspective boxes pretty well, it's honestly not that hard.where i get lost is turning those boxes into humans.
>>7818353Yea because Irshit is a retard who thinks you need to draw 1000 boxes all in different angles before you even think about drawing a stick figure
>>7818280Exactly. That's why I always recommend it. Why in the fuck would I help a future fag that's might steal my clout and money?
ive done it up until the 125 box and it helped my imagination. the issue was that i had to unlearn extreme fov. i plan on continuing drawing boxes but in scenes. i am also interested about texture
>>7818280Drawabox is for people to comfortzone, it doesn't demand reasoning or understanding. It, and its ilk, thrive on the fact that mindless grinding is comparatively easy and all it asks is putting in the time to something removed from the abstract aspects of art. It's monumentally stupid to anyone who actually wants to draw. It can be just the right thing to at least build some habit, to someone who deludes themselves for some arbitrary reason that they want to draw. A sort of security blanket that gives the bare minimum return to be meaningful. Admittedly, this is fucking retarded if you actually want to get anywhere and have better resources available. However, I have known and currently do know people who would be well suited to it. Just recently I got to know a guy who convinced himself after meeting me that he wanted to draw. So I gave him the advice I would have given myself starting out, helped him pick gear, offered to tutor him, put a selection of the material I've found most helpful right in his hands... And he's done jack shit since. He was prepared to put in effort when it seemed to him like grinding motor skills and "fundamentals" is all you need. As soon as art became something requiring active thought, it was too much. That rough scenario is common as dirt, probably because it looks like magic to people who don't actually draw so they assume it's all intuition.TL;DR: drawabox is a pit that permabegs choose for themselves, but if they were to venture outside it they'd probably get nowhere anyway. At least it can help some people do literally anything until they, hopefully, mature enough to actually study art
>>7818280>Telling a beginner to try drawabox is by far the quickest way to get them to burn out and quit? It's the easiest, most simple course to follow. Are you guys just retarded? If you don't like it anyway, then maybe drawing is just not for you.
>>7818426Those texture exercises and perspective lessons are pretty advanced and hard for beginners and require serious thinking, as well as when you actually get into construction. Personally, I think most of the retards who incoherently rage on this free course are either people who were frustrated by it for some reason or who genuinely do not know what it actually delves into
>>7818280I personally finished the 250 box challenge easily and am now finishing lesson 2. When I feel like drawing something else or following some other course or book, I do that instead.
>>7821184The fact that drawing is all about thinking in 3D makes people uncomfortable. I have seen many people ragequit drawabox, all of them have naturally poor spatial awareness and don't want to admit it.
Realistically DaB shouldn't actually take that long, even if you do hate it. It really needs to be stressed that basic perspective and construction really-truly is not hard at all, it's week one stuff. If you're having trouble with it, that is very much a you problem. Either you're actually retarded and got justifiably filtered, or you need to radically change your mindset in regards to what drawing is.
>>7818280And the ones who discouraged it have tried it. Let that sink in...
>>7821187>mfw Irshad purposely put 500 boxes grind to filter people who aren't fit to be drawfagsHe's doing everyone a favor
I checked it out and I don't see how it's all that useful besides what >>7818426says. Once you learn a concept, try applying it to actual drawings, going back tutorials as needed when you get stumped. That said, it seems to be overlooked that the course stresses repeatedly that to do it correctly, at least half of your drawing time should be drawing for fun outside of DaB.
both dab and ds did more harm to me than helpt. perma pre beg
Drawabox was actually one of the things that made me quit art years agoI was so upset with myself and a lot of other things that I gave it all upPicked it back up though in december of last year due to someone in /beg/int/ in all places and I've been at it ever since
>>7821184>>7821289It's just super boring and tedious. It's not hard, the fact that you're trying to brag over finding it easy is really pathetic desu, it's a minimum wage job, it doesn't take skill nor is it particularly hard to do, but it's extremely monotonous and boring. Drawing a box a thousand times isn't hard and I guarantee everyone here can do it, it's just super boring to do and I'd quit art too if my first impression were the millions of boring tasks the jeet has you doing. It was literally made because the creator has aphantasia and can't imagine a box in 3d kek. Maybe it's good if you're some 60 IQ monkey who can't imagine a spinning apple in your head
>>7821308More like DAB grinds prebegs down until they give up and turn into AI-spamming jeets. The internet gets more cluttered by the day.
>>7821394>It's just tedious, not hardClassic DSP excuse
>>7821407Nigga literally compared a Kirby game to dark souls. He would truly be the ultimate howie
>>7821411Someone should convince him to start a learning to draw series on his channel. It might finally be the thing that breaks him.
