>NOOOOO! You can't draw for likes or views! You must drawing only for yourself
Fuck that. I love the validation I get from high view counts. It's my main motivator and it's what drives me a lot of the time. Animating is long work and without an audience it's basically for nothing. I also submit to film festivals as well. If I'm not making shit for an audience I might as well draw floating cubes like the rest of you miserable people

I draw for money, church money
>>
>>7818759
You have to draw for yourself long enough in silence to get that animation done.
>>

>Silence
I animate to podcasts

Like to Joe Rogan? That’s giga gay, brah.
>>
I like likes too, but people don't give a shit to my drawings, there is something wrong with them?
>>
>>7818779
I'm very happy with my view count (last animation got 500k views)
>>7818783
Nah, currently listening to the old Nickelodeon animation podcast

Most artists want views and recognition if they post their work. Even on this board it's for (you)s
Most people don't like admitting it because they need to present a stoic image
>>
>>7818759
Likes > views
>If i get less than 2k likes on a drawing my day is ruined
>>
>>7818801
*laughs in not pressing the like button*
>>
>>7818759

It's all based on personality. Some people literally need 0 external validation and can isolate themselves in the grind for years and turn into monsters. Others need daily feedback and social engagement to stay motivated. Most people are somewhere in between.
>>
>>7818759
you don't need to draw for that, if you just want (You)s you can schizopost on /pol/

Ok great thread to ask this

there are some artists that for some reason receive unproportionate amount of likes to their followers on every drawing
I never understood how that works
pic real is @widisuuu
he has only 150k followers but he gets 20-40k likes under every drwaing
I wanna know how this happens
>>
>>7819061
booba
>>
>>7819061
how is this weird, if you post coomer bait people are gonna like the shit out of it constantly without feeling the need to follow the artist, the other answer could be bots, they can boost a post when it's popular enough
>>
>>7819061
9/10 people would put artist in a list instead of following, otherwise you'll end up with 2k+ following .
>>
>>7819061
I had only 2k followers once, and the first time I drew a girl, I got 1k more followers and 26k likes on that particular drawing. People just really like girls.
>>
>>7818788
your views will continuously half with every new upload. statistically it will happen. you will need to sell out to a publisher or network to sustain traffic and even then its not guarenteed.
you will then operate and create under the behest of your corporate masters, but according to you, that wont bother you. Other more talented indie creators will effortlessly eclipse you and you will sit there chewing tissue and crying like a bitch, wondering why and how others do so much better than you despite your threadbare publisher checks and marketing exposure. You are destined for obscurity and your creations turn more and more desperately depraved as you chase clicks. But despite everything you do, you will forever be known as that guy who turned his SFW creations into tier 2 patreon smut.

Many such cases

Nothing wrong with wanting acknowledgement for your efforts. But the issue lies more in the fact that a good chunk of high profile art is uninteresting and only serves to peddle the will of boring people and their boring tastes. Your ability to thrive in these circles depends more on your personality and social engineering more than it does your artistic credibility. And if your someone who's content with making the same disposable sub normie crap, then there's really not much to be said for you. Im a nobody and have interacted with 25k to 100k artists, and when I critiqued their art after they were expecting to punch down at me, they had a full blown melty and I still get butt hurt dms on the regular from them. People like that are unsustainable, and really highlight what a silly game this online engineering is.

The real red pill is wanting to form niche but personal connections and having a committed circle of equally motivated people who can all push each other and actually love the craft. Of course uploading and building an audience on the side is fine, you can actually manage both quite well. But whoops doodle, now everyone has delusions of grander and think they're the one percent of talent despite there being whole pool of retards with this exact mentality surrounding them, on top of their art rarely ever even being that good. So now meeting people who are actually engaging to be around is a game of find they hay in the needlestack, so many people and yet any deviance between them is non existent. Im guessing this is where op falls into. The fact you have to try and grandstand to a bunch of anons is real goofy hours, and is everything i need to know. Assuming this is real and not a psyop done out of boredom. Idky why I typed this im just waiting for my partner to get ready so we can go do our exercises for the day.

>I love the validation I get from high view counts. It's my main motivator and it's what drives me a lot of the time
ok then do that and don't complain when you dont get the results you want because that's what people have the most problem with. nobody cares that you make shit for validation, but people like you are good for becoming infinitely annoying faggot doom-pillers the second some slop you made flops
>>
>>7818786
Yes.
>>
i dont get it
why does op thinks we care?
>>
>>7819061
Beyond what others said, and the obvious possibility of botting that some may stoop to, it's also just the way our modern timeline/scrolling based social media sites work.
People quickly scroll to something the algorithm has put in front of them, they look at it for less than 5 seconds, and then they give it a like and move to the next thing that may momentarily make them pause in that dopamine haze.

On IG you need to stop posting for a few days to get unshadowbanned. There is usually a cool off period like 15 days to a month. Also during that period don't hit 'like' on other's posts keep it to 10 likes per day.
Next time be careful with those tags which IG thinks as spam, there used to be a website which used to list tags weekly which were considered spam by the system.

You draw because you believe you have something worthy of giving to the world in the hopes of improving it. If you think that's delusional stay out of the field.

What makes some pieces get a fuck ton of engagement/likes/rts but no followers gained? On my two biggest posts I got 20k likes, one got 1000 followers gained and one got barely 100. It's been a struggle getting followers since.
