Nothing you can’t find online for free, his course is a bloated Youtube playlist, I want something that feels comprehensive like college, and the only online course that I know in this teaching style is about 3D animation.

I guess there's nothing like that for drawing, or 2d animation, it's just short courses that cover 1% of what pros know.

There's plenty of this old stuff on Internet Archive, and RuTracker, they're dvds, vhs of old video courses like the Gnomon stuff from the 2000s, Marvel Way video course from the 80s, ImagineFX videos from 00s/10s, Correspondence Comic Art courses from the 90s, Pin-Up Drawing DVDs by comic artists from 00s, hell there's old DVDs in Brazilian Portuguese about drawing manga straight from 2006(?) shit is amazing, they're a lot better than the slop on Youtube.

That's not true at all, there's plenty of overlap because they're the universal principles of animation but TASK is not the OG that everyone is copying from, it's not even the best one at that, personally I think that Keith Lango's videos on Youtube are way better and far more helpful if you're trying to become a pro animator but you do you.

That's a much more advanced course and more focused on trad things that you can't really get much out of doing digitally. It's a lot of really good skills and lessons if you're mixing oils but not that useful for digital artists. I remember taking notes on it years ago and most of it is skippable aside from the demos. And once you know the process, demos aren't that helpful.

I would say to anyone looking to learn digital is to do the free Ctrl+Paint videos first. If you can't do the basics of digital selecting, blending, and painting then anything more advanced is lost on you.

Hey I'm the dummy who wanted this course. I found a website that actually had it downloadable but it's in 10 parts downloadable from a site called "rapid gator". I downloaded part 1 so far and it seems to be genuine. It only had course material and .psd files but they are there. The problem with the site is they take 3-4 hours to download 1 gb and they only allow 1 download at a time and only one download every 120 minutes.
I thought I would trick it by downloading the next part from a second browser but the site knows and enforces the limit anyways.
At this rate it's gonna take me 5 days straight to download this course.
Anybody know if Jdownloader or something can help?

>I'm genuinely not trolling when I say this, but have you considered learning a 3D software like Blender?
I'm learning Blender for this exact purpose, so don't worry about it, it's a valid tip, but I wanna draw like those Korean artists that can rotate stuff in 2D like it's a 3D model, that's a lot faster than modeling for hours just to trace over it, thanks.

If you go through the archives you will notice that anons figured out that Japanese artists like mangaka and anime animators use Loomis and Jack Hamm all the time, nowadays they also use Morpho and Muroi, so you should use video courses similar to those books, or just use Hide's 2 video courses since he's a Japanese animator.

You two are begs.

Talking > hand holding session.
You will get far more information out of a a 10-24 hour course of someone talking (see the Scott Eaton courses) than of a guy simply drawing and painting mindlessly (see any random pro artists who streams).
They tell you how they think, where they get their ideas from, how they get their ideas, how they know whether something works or not, how they test, how they disregard, they simplify ideas, they tell you what's more important what isn't, etc.

The Underpaint courses are goated precisely because of this reason, the only way a "this is how you draw 101" is beneficial to you if is you are a literal permabeg who can't copy, and struggles with the basics.
This is why you people don't improve.

Anyone done this course? Would it be good start for a beg to learn drawing figure / bodies?
>>
>>7836650
Unfortunately I am retarded and did not read through the thread before asking. Apologies fellas
>>
>>7836650
Wouldn't something like prokos beginner course be better as a beginner? Or is it not that big of a deal if you wanna start learning bodies / heads, since the gesture and figure drawing course are also aimed at beginners?
>>
>>7835616
Watch all of his podcasts unironically.
>>
>>7836665
Proko fundies isn't really about drawing anything specific. He does have a figure one, but proko really subscribes to the 'copy real life until you can draw real life from imagination' school. I think later he even says he doesn't think it's the best way anymore.
>>
>>7836650
have an anatomy atlas at hand because he does use Latin names for every bone and muscle he talks about
>>
i'd be really grateful if someone could point me where to get Visign material! specifically anything related to character design
>>
>tfw no teachers ever cover child proportions or cartoon/animu proportions

>>7836650
No but I'm doing his gesture course and it's pretty gud so far. Gonna buy that one when I'm done. He's a great teacher. The critique videos in particular are really useful.
>>
>>7837300
You could look at some anime courses, or books? Just avoid the western books that do fake anime cash grabs.
>>
>>7837303
Any recommendations? I've found that that nips tend to suck at teaching.
>>
>>7837240
>proko really subscribes to the 'copy real life until you can draw real life from imagination' school.
He went to learn with KJG because he's always terrible at drawing from imagination, he's the Atelier type before.
>I think later he even says he doesn't think it's the best way anymore.
Proko's the type that can draw anything from observation like the other artists on Watts Atelier but to draw from imagination you need a different mindset, you need to "box up" everything you see and imagine perspective in every single thing you see in real life, even if you're not drawing, you need to see like a 3D modeler, perspecive theory is there to help you teach others, but your own use of it's instinctual, you naturally draw like a Blender software, always aware of X, Y and Z axis like the Blender software, and that's not how art is taught in Ateliers.
>>
>>7837240
Oh I meant it more as : Starting with prokos beginner course might be better for a total beg, since hamptons gesture / figure drawing courses might be too advanced.

But honestly I'm not sure if thats really the case since I think hampton does explain things from the ground up
>>
>>7837300
Where can I find hamptons gesture course? Or did you buy it?
>>
>>7823263
I skinmed through the course and it doesn't look like it's not even all that focused on anime in particular, wouldn't just doing hamptons course be better since you dont have to use subtitles / weird robo-translator voices?
>>
>>7837512
Yeah, is what I meant. His drawing from imagination is just rote learning of every possible angle from real life observation.
>>
>>7837554

Unironically proko and loomis, they don't promote chicken scratches.
Hampton is NOT bad, I don't think taking one course should lock you out of the others, but just make sure you're intentional with your lines.
Begs usually are not, more so if they're already pretty messy (eg: messy handwriting, don't measure before drawing, "wings it")
What's good about Hampton (and Loomis) is his ability to drill in the whole landmark thing.
>>
anyone got more coloso stuff?

Is there a single good coloso course?

Everything I've seen is for nodraws who think one more Asian course is going to solve all their problems, when Asian courses are the absolute worst instruction method unless they have weeks/months of assignment mileage like Krenz.
>>
>>7841701
you really only watch them to see workflows and see how someone would approach a drawing. i wouldn't say they are for education.
>>
>>7841709
That's what I figured, I remember some of the early, eagerly awaited rips. They were in a no mans land of being targeted at /beg/s but way over their head and not useful as a masterclass if you are beyond that level. So they suit nobody.

You'd think after seeing enough courses that the nodraws would realize there's no secret.
>>
>>7841701
Teaching is actually really hard. Designing and testing a course with real students takes years. They just grab popular artist on social media and make them throw together a random course.

Is there a good starter course by Kim Jung Gi? I've been drawing for about 6 months now, I'm reaching a decent level with figures, I think I should study his art now to have excellent foundational knowledge on perspective. I found two courses by him on the /ic/ torrent:
>KJG drawing course (listed under figures i think)
>Kim Jung Gi - How to Draw Figures in Perspective
Also a large assortment of artbooks (mostly sketch compilations by the look of it). I downloaded both these courses.

He has a coloso course in korean iirc. Not sure if it’s the same thing as the ones you mentioned.
But didn’t he share his journey?
- he drew from very young
- he drew what he saw (drawing from observation + drawing from memory)
- he rotated those same objects in his head and drew it (drawing from memory + drawing from imagination)

Zips within zips within zips...
I dropped the video files in to the dub folders.
In Part 23 and 24 removed the "[" and "]" to match the name with the other files in so my player would autoload the subtitles
If you want Japanese subs, add ".srt" before the "-ja"

The names of the parts, 01 to 14 generally match the content but 15 onwards definitely needs changing.
If you want to change the names yourself the correct names can be found here.
