If true then how does one know what is too immature for one to draw at his age and what is fine to draw?
Once a year I go to the bureau of arts and culture to see what's acceptable for a dude pushing 40 to draw. The day poop jokes were off the table was sad, but if society says I'm too old for certain humor I guess I have to comply.
>>7823925Sometimes I wonder if the "someone is doing something worse" excuse is still reliable if it comes to drawing something that one might be too old to draw if such a concept is even valid. Did the constant drawing of pornography and niche fetishes essentially make such a concept decline?
>>7823920just remember that all immature cartoons and comics were designed by grown men
>>7823920No? I'm failing to actually think of something.Sonichu is made by a literally retarded man, so it's childish because the artist is a stunted man child - if a mature adult had done it, it wouldn't feel as childish as it does. There are adults who are fans of children's materials and make fan art for it, and it never feels too immature...Maybe a media property for literal babies? Even then, there are outliers, like Yo Gabba Gabba! or Bluey.Actually, perhaps a story or tone of your story could feel too childish?
>>7823920your question is too vague. do you have an example of something you feel too old to drw?
>>7825114Maybe you're right.>>7825137I feel old to draw edgy OCs I made up and kept in my head that I suddenly remember for whatever reason.I sometimes wonder if what makes or breaks an edgy OC from being cringe or not is whether it is executed properly in visual form. Like if it is drawn badly it becomes cringe and if not then it is "acceptable" at the worst.
>>7823920If you want to mature max then you should be drawing mainly nature settings and still lifes, like this.
>>7823920Dunno nigga, ask Disney pros
>>7828014This, don Rosa is a carl barks fan boy
>>7826448>I feel old to draw edgy OCsI think the crux is less that something is too childish to draw, but that you can approach it with too much immaturity. It's not cringe because it's an edgy OC, it's cringe because it's an adult with a child's worldview on what counts as edgy. Like how you can spot incels by how comically overglorified their approach sexual content is.You can draw pictures of your favorite anime character all you want, but if you start writing barely comprehensible self-insert fan fiction about it, people should rightly start to question your mental health.
>>7825114What does it mean to be "mature"?
No... Consider that adults are the ones who have to make childhood entertainment.
>>7828117I was going to say that it's just something you know; a "gut feeling" essentially... but after giving it a bit more thought, I think maturity can be described as 'complexity'.Where as children's shows have black and white morality, and simple straight forward stories and emotion; "mature" shows will be a lot more nuanced (or in other words; complex), even the same situations that were presented as black and white in the kids shows, will be shown so that we can understand why the antagonist did what they did, or perhaps the solution will also be morally ambiguous, etc...There's also tits and ass and violence and stuff, but that's "mature" for age gated reasons, rather than because these things are actually mature.
