is a it bad thing to copy other artist artworks as a beginner?
only if you try to pass it off as your own
>>7824241Isn't that what a study is? How else would anyone learn?
>>7824264idk if this info just spawned in my head or if I saw it somewhere on YouTube or Reddit. I heard that copying stuff from real life is the fastest way to improve, rather than copying other artists or something like that.
>>7824241>is a it bad thing to copy other artist artworks as a beginner? No. As a classical guitar player, I've "copied" countless compositions by studying them for countless hours. An essential part of learning really.
>>7824270This is true, copying the real world gives you objective progress and you can study how actual reality work.Copying other artists is just you copying how THEY percieve the world, with all of their little mistakes and things they do. Remember, you gotta learn how the rules work to properly break them.
>>7824270I think its a good idea to reference study or copy other artists if they do something particular you like. If they shade or draw certain body parts in a way you find really appealing, yeah study it find out how to do that yourself.
>>7824241The only no-no in art is plagiarism, everything else is fair game.
make senses
one of the oldest methods to in learning to draw or paint..
>>7824241No, not at all. You should study masters and others’ work/methods all the time.
>>7824270Drawing from life is the fastest way to improve, but studying and learning from other artists is also necessary to enhance the creative element and to understand how people approach different problems that arise in drawing so that when you draw that same thing, you don’t feel as inexperienced
>>7824241Yes, you will explode into a million bloody little chunks if you do it, OP. BE CAREFUL NOW!
>>7824241No. It's a good thing to start by copying better artists over trying to draw from imagination because at least you have an idea of what kind of art are appealing to you
No. I've learned art styles by just redrawing the piece and comparing for flaws or jank.
>>7824241no

>>7824241It's as bad as studying professional games of Chess to learn (which is to say not at all and is completely normal and expected if you're serious). Just make sure you're thinking about why the moves/lines are being made rather than just blindly copying contours and marks though.
>>7824241The old masters learned in this way too.
