Anyone else do that automatic drawing thing the surliest do? My first attempt at it with painting digitally, though it's been forever since I've done it at all.

Yeah, I do it all the time. I was watching a video where Katsuya Terada talked about how he loves drawing hair because it takes him back to just drawing lines as a kid, and he finds it meditative. I think it's really that kind of thing at the bottom of it, most artists have a version of that where they can turn their brain off and just draw shapes and lines.
