If you're touching a cold surface or surrounded by low temperature air, it's obvious that either makes you cooler. But it's easy to forget that your body also radiates heat away also.

If you're near a large cold surface, like a single-glazed window, even though the room air temperature is 70'F, you can feel as if you were in a 50'F room. This effect is increased by a colder window (or poorly-insulated wall) surface, a larger cold surface, or proximity to the cold surface.

Simply, if you're sitting near a large window, hang a curtain. Translucent is fine. Or, move away from windows. At least turn your back to it so that your hands do not "see" the cold surface of the window.
