Style takes a long time to acquire unless you stop trying to improve. Every time you improve you start doing things differently and what little style you have changes. Case in point, cras, he stopped trying to improve and draws the same thing again and again thus making him recognizable.

Wrist pain comes more if the grip is static rather than dynamic, if you move your fingers to draw then the grip doesn't matter. Quad is more restrictive in line flow however.
