The year is almost over. Did you improve? Have any art to compare from last year? This is the thread to show it off!
>>7834806>Did you improve?I don't think so. I look like a flat circle.
>>7834806I think I'm doing pretty goodProgress has been slowing down a bit but it's still fun
>7834886fuck off chris
>>7834806>Did you improve?
>>7834806I still have very little understanding of anatomy.
You people told me I never improve so I never improved.
>>7834806>I took 80 commissions this year instead of 100 like I usually doThis is the life of a wagie
>>7834806KayEach of them is exactly one year apartFirst one's from last year and the second ones from this year
>>7834806I think that I've gotten marginally better in terms of lighting, composition and lineart but to be honest, I kind of feel like I am stagnating. I dunno how/what I should do in order to improve.
>>7834806I'm quite happy with how my art's been going.
I'm still in a studyfag loop, getting filtered by value studies is still worth it though I get more tempted to care about shape design. I don't think I improved much because I keep clogging up my brain with random theory I don't have any use for yet, for example color temperature stuff.
>>7835303Last color study thing I tried was inventing a different lighting scenario from an existing painting, original was a sunset lighting, I'm too much of pussy to try again, but it's pretty tempting to go for it, maybe need a subject matter that fuels my interest a bit.
>>7834806I actually regressed in terms of speed, I barely got anything done this year. something went horribly wrong
Idk if this is a good comparison but this is the first page of personal art (as in not a copy or an exercise) from my first sketchbook I started in early July vs something I finished on Sunday
>>7834806I’ve made big progress on my portraits and quick drawing in general
>>7835303Honestly anon if you’re struggling with values I highly recommend you just return to trad. I know it’s something people here say a lot, but you’ll probably “get” values more if you do it with a pen or pencil as opposed to digitally. You have to experience darkening a particular value or making one light intentionally with a pen in order for it to become second nature
