Why has finger painting on tablets never taken off?
>>

screen lag is significantly more noticeable when using a finger instead of a pen. also, the lack of true tactile feedback and lack of expressionism through pressure and tilt sensitive brushwork limits the medium substantially.
you can still do it, and people to this day paint using mice in mspaint, but it's an unpopular, unwieldy medium for a reason
>>
>>7835034
cause it sucks
if you can afford a tablet, you can afford a stylus
>>
>>7835034
You cant see shit with your finger covering it up
It irritates your finger over time
Screen lag
No pressure support so you might as well just use on of those capacitive stylus to sidestep the first two problems. Or just get a pressure capable stylus, and by that you just get a regular drawing tablet
>>
Tech is too primitive. You need at the very least pressure-sensitive screens, which you pretty much can only find on some discontinued iphones.
Ideally you'd also need a screen capable of sensing the entire contact area of your fingertip, which is impossible with merely 10 point multitouch or whatever most touch screens use.
And the accuracy on capacitive touch screens is laughable compared to pen tablets.
The point accuracy on pen tablets is about 100 times more precise.

Pressure sensitivity can be emulated using touch size. It is usually reported to programs but practically never used, since it varies depending on person's age and room temperature. It would be unreliable for typical UI interaction. But, as everyone correctly noticed, touch painting would still be insult to injury.

No, you can't.
>>
>>7835119
Why not?
>>
>>7835034
phones after iphone boom technically are still finger painting
>>
>>7835111
No you can't.

>>7835129
Because of how capacitive touch tech is implemented.

I must be imagining things.

I often find myself switching back and forth between the stylus and my index finger, depending on what I'm doing one can feel easier and more natural than the other.
>>
>>7835034
because people like to play with their anus using their fingers
>>

Interesting. Didn't think it was possible.
There are even apps for it if you search for it. I'm not indian though so I don't own an android to try it out

If you are going to by a tablet meant to draw with a finger wouldn’t be more useful to buy a normal IPad with a stylus. Besides, finger and mouse drawing can accelerate tendinitis and Carpel Tunnel. It’s like paying extra not to draw at all
>>
This is literally how I've been drawing after getting back into art after covid. I haven't needed to use a pen or pencil for any of my high school or college classes, and when I do I start feeling pain in my wrist and hand after 30 minutes. I even bought a drawing tablet (for osu) and that fucks up my hand even more, none of the recommended grips work for me and now I play on mouse.

I want to draw with a pen like I used to when I was kid, how the fuck do you fix this?
