I wonder if the reason we lack artists that are as good as the old masters is because we fried our brains out with useless information. Most people who are good nowadays grew up drawing and not scrolling social media. I don't think you can become a great artist if you keep filling your brain with information you won't use for art, it is wasted resources and you can only fill your brain with so much information before it starts discarding recent memories. Maybe even reading words is bad for an artist and you should only look at things you want to draw to maximize and streamline your brain capacities.
