Some npcs for a tabletop game I am making. The setting is a snowed out late 1800s North America in the middle of a supernatural winter, sort of a mix of the Oregon trail and the movie Ravenous. I wanted some fresh eyes on these designs, as I was trying to make each one unique from one another and I am not 100% on a lot of them. so, opinions and suggestions, lay them on me.
>>7849222I think you cut off the demon eye head guy off to much drawing wise. Just draw a small indication of a bed to make it a complete portrait. For the Loretta one her head piece should have a little bit more of that black fabric thats supposed to droop down on top.Like even the most exaggerated ones I can find on like a google search still have that little sliver of fabric. Like if you made the line on the top of the headpiece just thick it would look better.Huxlpe(the blue scarf one) again I feel is just cut off to early. Assuming that what shes wearing is some form of hijab just indicate a shoulder, otherwise she just looks like a curled up ball. It doesnt need much just like a shoulder line.Lallile and Dennis are fine design wise but I think their drawings are the weakest compared to everyone else, even the ones I complained about are stronger drawings compared to those two characters despite my nitpicks. Dennis looks like a guy with a hunch , like when I looked at him I though of Igor from the Persona series cause it looks like your going for that kind of pose, but there are other hunched characters you can look at.And just have Lallile face forward towards the viewer, he doesnt have to do anything special but it be more in line with the rest of the art(Johnny and Ruthie I see as an exception cause they are so close to each other, seems intentional)This is a good track to be on though OP
>>7849251Just to add some positive remarks the rest that I didnt complain about are good, hell they look good enough to work as sprites in an actual video game if you ever have those ambitions. Like I look at them and think good RPG Maker games
>>7849222don't worry about it, your players will enjoy your effort regardless
>>7849271Thanks man, I hope so. I need to do my best though. >>7849251Noted, noted. I suspected something was wrong with Lallile and Dennis.I think redoing Huxlee (and rewriting her name) is in order, as she is supposed to be wrapped in a blanket with just her face poking out. I knew there was something wrong with Loretta's habit, thank you.
>>7849222Honestly man, they're cute, I'll echo what >>7849271 said. Non-RW ttrpg scene is very anti-AI so they appreciate any effort put in. Just look at some of the drawings in the original AD&D DMG and Monster Manual to see how low the bar is for stuff like this, literal back of the napkin scribbles that made it in. There's a long history of DIY in the scene, this stuff is already a cut above what would have been commonplace in the early 80s.As far as feedback goes, try giving James beady eyes and see how that looks, instead of bulging toad eyes. Btw is any of this Mouthwashing inspired? Gale and ??? are giving Anya and Curly a little bit (not a bad thing)
>>7849278the beady eyes is a really good idea. I'm tempted to make the touch of color in his portrait be the bags under his eyes, but it might be better to make that his nose or maybe his mustache. maybe even a pin or something on his hat. Also he is bald now. good idea though anon, I like it more already. It's more "no, im not a human" inspired to be honest with you, but I see what you mean. I guess when you have a fella whos fucked up and wrapped in bandages they are bound to look like Curly. I see the link with Anya but it wasn't intentional lol
>>7849251>>7849278Okay, I managed to redo Dennis and James. The shading isn't done for James, clearly. I'm really digging the new Dennis portrait. I think it fits his part in the story more. Also im still trying to figure out Lallile and Huxlee, but they are both difficult. Will work on this more tomorrow. Seeing these two redos makes me want to redo all of them lol
>>7849222Thorne is nothing but red flags but god I would.Ruthie is cute, would waifuRosalie looks like she pleasures men for money
I like the art style. Get more expressive poses and it could look great>>7849289>30sFuck me, he looks like he is in his 60s, what the hell happened to him?!
>>7850009You are correct about Rosalie, shes a prostitute. Good at charming people but irreconcilably clashes with others. >>7849412Still polishing, Lallile is difficult and im still not 100% on Huxlee. That being said I am feeling better about this working version of Huxlee, and I think if worse comes to worse I can work with this working version. No worse for wear. Screwed up my finished Loretta sketch before I could scan it, but im keeping on. >>7850014Thank you! I am thinking of redoing some of the more static ones. James has lead a hard life. Mostly by choice.
>>7849222All very generic but I'd fuck Loretta to hell and back
>>7850348Well I think for Hexlee you just need some minor adjustments. I see in the OG thing you were trying to something more cute so for that you'd have to cover up his face slightly more and have the fabric properly around their nose. Also you would have to make the lines for the eyelids more smaller and slightly thick. And if you choose to make a creepy eye edit you can just overlay that on the existing drawing, the cute could contrast with the menacing in that scenarioLallile has seen major improvments, however I think the eyes are taking up too much space, I shrunk em down ever so lightly but with that its enough for you to add eyebrows which I think would help add to the expression of the character, but the overall drawing is a lot more interesting then what you had before even though its a neutral stance. But yeah otherwise theyre game ready. Good stuff
>>7849222why is this bait thread getting replies and honest critiques?fuck you all, hyping mediocrity
>>7850722I'm picking up what you are putting down, yeah. I'll take that into account with the next draft.Thank you!
>>7850729What's your fucking problem, mate?
>>7850009>>7850475You're both sleeping on Gale. Would waif/10Also Alex.>>7849222I like them, anon. The campaign sounds cool too! Would play/10Makes me want to run the DCC Shudder Mountain's modules. Which are sort of Appalachian horror flavored.
>>7850722>>7850348>>7849412Okay! I think they are game ready. Fun times. Might redo some more of them. Thanks guys :)I still have a lot more to do, enemy designs mostly.
>>7851127Some bonus stuff
>>7850729nigga some people use art as a means to an end. He's not an illustrator, he's a game designer, and he just needs some feedback to point him in the right direction. I'd rather him DIY than use AI, so fuck it.
>>7851127Alright good luck man, youve done good work
>>7851935Thanks man.
>>7849222cool designs anon
>>7851127been doing enemy designs for virtual tokens and the like. these are generic banditsnote: they are supposed to be rougher in composition, sort of smeared charcoal/frenzied1/3I know it's not the original op's topic but it's still character design relating to my game, right?
>>7855486wild animals2/3
>>7855487and some cannibals 3/3vendors/trading npcs are next. Lemme know your thoughts if any. >>7855144wonderful, you made them so cute lol.If you care, their role is as a random trinket npc. They sell whatever to whoever for whatever price, including things no other vendor sells.
>>7855486??? upside down??? >>7855489also, these are the raw unedited unorganized scans, including unfinished failed sketches, basically straight from the page.
>>7855489Been tired, here are a few of them. still have a few more of them to go.
>>7855144I love how these goobers look
Threads like these are amazing, banger art op, wish I was at that level
