So I get a lot of critic for my work not having "line confidence" and being perfect straight lines as in digital art, but then I see artwork like that of Moebius, where there are a lot of imperfections in his comics and he still sold a lot of art and was very famous.I'm just feeling a bit confused about it all?
The artwork you posted looks ugly as sin tho. And western comics are a global flop partly due to ugly art.
Hahaha oh man, did your comment just make me feel so much better about my art!I love this artwork of his and so do many others, so I'm glad now how my art is seen!I don't like Anime at all and think it looks the same by every artist, but honestly, I don't mind if you hate Western art.We can agree to disagree and nobody is right, so thanks a lot!
>>7852701His lines look very confident, the fuck are you on about?
Naw, if you look closely some of his lines are not completely straight when they should be and a bit jittery, like by the door
>>7852735Not what line confidence means retard
Yeah it does sock-cummer.Wobbly lines when the shape should be "solid" is a sign of not having line confidence or "imperfections"
>>7852744This is why you're still a /beg/, remember that.
Because you are a sock-cummer? Naw, that's on you mate
>>7852753Because you decide to intentionally be an idiot instead of improve yourself. Lashing out against people better than you doesn't hurt them, it just makes you look like more of a dumbass.
Exactly! I didn't even paint or draw the image and then the guy gets upset because I'm asking an actual question about a famous artist's work that he doesn't like? It won't change the artist is famous or good to others
"confident" lines does not mean "perfect" lines
>>7852735>if you look closely
>>7853184Nope sorry, still can't see my dick
This is what drawabox does to people
>>7852705Moebius is considered one of the biggest inspirations for anime and manga, even now.He was also active during America's and Europe's Comic Heyday, and dead by the time Japan and Korea started to take over.>>7852735Sure he doesn't have 'bold clean' lines, but I wouldn't say his lines lack confidence - but line 'confidence' is such a vague term anyway, because I can totally see why lines that aren't bold could equate to lacking line confidence (though I disagree). To me, line confidence is shown by whether or not they're chicken scratching, or trying to fix their lines (like having a thick lines because they went back over the previous lines to fix mistakes) - a lack of confidence in their original lines, essentially.
>>7852701>>7852735"An interesting crooked line is much more to be desired than one ruled along by a straight-edge, for it transcribes something of the person behind it, the pulse of life. Whereas an instrument like the compass or ruler may be used briefly as a device, it should always be subservient to the freehand line."— Jack Hamm, Drawing the Head and Figure, 1936
>>7852701Unconfident lines would be chicken-scratchy
>>7852701This is line confidence. The imperfections don’t cancel out the design choices. It is just a skill you need to practice to improve at drawing and inking, not an art style to aim for. People will accept some imperfection in analog art as part of the process. If you draw like Moebius it doesn’t matter.
>>7852705> calling Moebius art uglyThe fucking state of this board...
>>7852701Do you only post art at 4chan?You only gonna get roasted here the majority of the time. Some years ago, when concept art was still at its peak, there was actually some good info here at this board, with valid critiques as well. After generative AI became mainstream, it went to shit.
