>Theres a comic expo in my city>Have like three months to prepare>Already have the idea for the comic (has to be 16 pages)>Glacial progress, stressful>Procrastinate some days>Two weeks until the deadline and i only have one page finished and the others only with sketches>Admit that its over>Go check the expo's page miraculously waiting for more time>Discover they have a short story option>Ive been reading novels for 6 years or so so maybe something rubbed off me>Take the story, write the draft by not paying attention to the prose or spelling but just getting from point A to B>Actually enjoyable>Edit it to improve the prose, look at some authors i like for help>Check it for spelling errors, read aloud for weird phrases>its not particularly good but i enjoyed making it>Submit it>Lose the popular voteDoes this mean that its like the meme that you like the idea of making something but not making the thing itself?

>>7853642>fail once>consider giving upMan, are we fucking lucky this generation wasn't responsible for discovering America, building society, exploring, experimenting, advancing technology etc.Nobody replied because there's nothing to say, boring nothingburger thread. Give up or don't, literally nobody cares.
>>7853642Maybe? If you have a hard time getting yourself to do it, don't enjoy the process in any substantive way, and find writing much more enjoyable - maybe that's what you should be aiming towards?I don't think you necessarily need to be enjoying the process the entire time - the greatest enjoyment I get from any drawing is completing it, and finishing a project - but if you're enjoying a different medium a lot more, and have no trouble getting yourself to do that compared to drawing, maybe that IS your calling?
>>7853642>sets unrealistic expectations then half-asses it>is this a sign to quit?dunno OP it sounds like you're just looking for permission to give up, no one cares just go do what you want
>>7853642Liking and wanting to make something doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be easy or even enjoyable at times>Wanted to try myself at making a comic for quite a while>I've had an idea and a storyboard sitting for about 2 years>There's a comic expo in my city>I had a month to prepare>Dad in hospital due to a recent stroke>Starting a new job at the same time>Stress through the roof>Become completely obssesed with making that comic, i was even doing it on job time>I managed to make a 31 page comic in a month>I didn't submit it because i was 2 days late>Still satisfied with the result of actually making myself create a whole comic in a month time
>>7853642So, you procrastinated and took the easy option that didn't challenge your current skill level. It's crazy that your takeaway is that you should just give up. Literally folding under zero pressure
