pretty amazing
I love how it's saturated as fuck, but it doesn't hurt my eyes
>>
>>7853871
i guess that's due to color contrast, right? red stands out more on a dark blue/back backdrop
>>
>>7853871
Yeah, it think it works cos its saturated and on the darker side at the same time.
>>
i really want to take the hrb pill but it feels so hard to actually sketch or do studies with so i go back to my comfy pencil-ish brush
>>
HRB is best brush.

Now this is crazy

He def used lasso tool and a square brush
>>
>>7853871
It's because saturation doesn't mean extreme contrast in values. It's why value control is taught and so important to learn before you start thinking about colors.

Nodraw here. What’s so great about these pictures? They just look messy to my eyes. Kinda hurt my eyes too. Is it some brush economy thing? Something like although huge brush strokes, they still manage to get the intended effect.

it's only interesting to artists like looking at clean code would mean nothing to non-programmer

On the surface it's just some good art. But it's also an expression of skill that other illustrators can recognize. Using only the HRB (a default brush for most digital art programs) is like limiting yourself to only one tool, in an environment where you're given dozens. So it lets your skill shine through with no other "assists" that other tools might offer. Everything in the image is then reliant on the artist's skill, and you see it in the economy of detail, the leading lines, color choices, and so on so forth. In a way, it's kind of "pure" if that makes any sense. Maybe like the digital equivalent of doing traditional art. So there's a bit of added level of appreciation there. Really, only autistic artists on the internet give a shit about it though. IMO it creates an interesting looking aesthetic and I like it a lot.

Zoomers was a mistake.

this one is the best.
congrats, now i'm going to post my name on it and claim i drew it, like all other AI artists.

thumbnail look good
much colours stronk
brain happy
or something like that
>>
>>7855156
the form is good, if you take a smudgebrush, you can get the "clean" result, but this style is actually really good, since it shows that the artists understands the values.

tldr, artist good.

You can do studies with HRB no problem, it takes time just like any other new tool or skill. What worked to wean me into it was lose the pencil brush and replace it with a half or so opacity chisel/calligraphy brush. Kind of feels like drawing with highlighters.

If you look closely you'll notice almost all of these have either some blending or texture or effects in them. If you count transparency against the hard round meme, even fewer examples itt are "pure." Hard round is kind of a shit digital art meme that didn't exist before 2010s. You never get perfectly flat, digital, unary values in life or in painting and sketching. It's only in digital art where this is even conceivable. Even puire black ink tends to apply with a dryness and a very subtle gradient at the edges. Use it if you want for practice, but don't limit yourself to it. Reality isn't made of skittles.

tb h I always thought when people say HRB they mean a round brush with hard edges, transparency/size jitter or not.

Same here. Perhaps the OP image + follow up images caused some confusion.

It’s unrealistic to try and brute force all pieces with a full opacity HRB, and this is coming from someone who draws primarily in MS Paint
>>
>>7856491
>MS Paint
You know mfs were doxed for this shit?
>>
>>7856274
no one wants to draw reality, we have cameras, reality is shit.
>>
No opacity, no jitter hard round brush is the hard round brush of hard round brushes.
>>
>>7856500
Soft brush on the face, hands, and boots it's tainted
>>
>>7856505
Thank you, Sherlock, who would have known otherwise.
>Character design sketches done with a hard round brush, except for some of the faces rendered further.
>>
>>7856486
Using transparency feels like it's kinda missing the point.

Beautiful
