How do you start drawing something like this from imagination
>>
What's with all the retarded threads today?
>>
>>7859649
Draw the bigger shapes, the larger planes, first.

>>7859650
Eh, it's about the same level of quality and intelligence that we always have.
>>

There have specifically been numerous threads on the subject of imagination drawing, or threads where the OP eschews reference in some way. Even for subjects that were most definitely referenced like this thread's OP. It's dumber than usual, somehow.

simply learn how cloth physics works intuitively with your brain through observation, sketching and using your brain, like almost literally all other aspects of drawing.
it's always the same principles applied to everything in drawing objects, tension and release, pulling and pushing, shape design etc..
>>
>>7859649
>imagine a cloth draping over something
>draw it

That's pretty much it, but the reason you can't is because you haven't looked at, studied, and drawn enough pieces of fabric from reality or images.
>>
>>7859649
This wasn't drawn from imagination.
>>
>>7859649
just imagine cloth and then draw what you see in your head o algo
>>
>>7859649
by learning the principles of how it is formed.

Cloth folds are very rarely referenced instead of constructed anew
>>
>>7859649
there are just 7 types of folds

Hm? Not him but OP's was drawn from life with a 95%+ probability. What they did back then was often to soak a piece of drape in plaster or clay, I don't recall exactly, position it, wait for it to dry, and then paint it.

It helps with keeping the drape unchanged, so that it could be studied for extended period of time.

Same as with anything: study from life or reference meticulously at first, many times, monochromatically. Then train memory and or invention, starting by articulating the main volumes and going finer from there.

(haven't been there in a while, wtf with those captchas)
