What’s /ic/’s thought on this book? Good place to start?
>>7861444As an absolute beginner? I'd say no, because it focuses on more realistic (even if simplified) figures, and I think that'd filter you.If you're above an absolute beginner, then I'd say go for it.If you are a beginner, then it might be a bit of a meme, but Loomis' Fun with a Pencil is the best lead up into this book.If you're looking for the best place to start drawing in a general sense, I always recommend Preston Blair's Cartoon Animation, since Fun with a Pencil can be full of rather ugly drawings (which can be demoralising), where as Cartoon Animation's drawings are all fun and pleasing to draw.
I think it's really interesting even if you don't care about that 1970s artstyle it goes through the entire process of making a comic and has a ton of useful information
>>7861444Yes, this and the Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain exercise book are great places to start. DotRSotB will treach you accuracy and HtDCtMW will teach you the basics of construction. From there copy some Morpho or Bridgman and you've got a solid foundation.
Buscema was a fantastic artist, if you stop drawing anime girls for 3 minutes and read some of that book, you will be better, guaranteed
>>7861909If there's one thing to acknowledge, it's that the boomers drew epic scenes in a spectacular way.
I wish Mobeius had one
>>7861444Link please
>>7861929Here you go.
>>7861460Thank you. I will check out Loomis and Blair first then
>>7861929You can find it it Z-library
>>7861444Surprised no one has posted this yet. There's a video that covers all the material in the book, with the added advantage of getting to see Big John Buscema in action (but only short glimpses, unfortunately).https://youtu.be/B5tU2PuRdU8?si=0gfEbPAu8aiToYjEAlso, and relatedly, there are videos from Joe Kubert's original Kubert School correspondence course, that cover all the topics related to making comics:https://youtu.be/9PSoKbpRTlE?si=lpAeqRVnIeJ24QAJhttps://youtu.be/Zt_j70hzSrE?si=oqkoN7u8b9mQvQUthttps://youtu.be/sDc1b5qNSNI?si=fnsyZ9qYVTHkuupIhttps://youtu.be/pWee7QgW1a0?si=-CNDBIPmulRyF7slhttps://youtu.be/95eEVwuGP2Y?si=1RVyLO9Tx0hldsO9https://youtu.be/SoPIGIP3xbQ?si=JqT6kt7rR9fUoRJa
>>7861444Um, link to this book?
I've read it a few times. If you understand how to use it, it's good, but when they wrote the book they assumed the reader would be someone who copied from Marvel comics from ages 8 to 18, and was ready to refine and work in the industry. From a dead stop it's rough.
>>7862223post the link, dickface.
>>7862225I paid the 9 dollars and have a copy, retard. How can you figure out the fucking captcha and not figure out "free books?" Are you one of those fucking zoomers that screams at Google searches like "book free book I need a free book the book is marvel drawing I need a link to the free book I can't pay I need free book" and then wonder why the fucking thing doesn't work?
>>7862231Jesus what a fucking faggot, imagine paying 9 Canadian dollars for something you can get for free. This board is such a cesspool of low IQ pedophiles I don't even know why am I here.
>>7862232Gonna cry about it? Gonna shit your pants and post it on main, pussy boy? Yeah, I buy books, because guess what, shit for brains? You can't pirate a book, you can only pirate a bundle of jpgs, which is all you'll ever have, you no-work-posting, spiritually deformed abortion.
>>7862236>no-work-posting>claims to have read the book he bought for 3000 Zimbabwe Dollars twice instead of getting it for free>no work to show for or link to the book so other can tryYeah you're retarded beyond salvation.
>>7862239>No work to show, ever, only deflection >"reads" books on his shit encrusted Samsung Galaxy>Allergic to nominal amounts of money in return for a quality productYippee, the jeetiebois are online
>>7862242Oh the irony
>>7862245Yeah, no, you outed yourself with "Canadian dollars," kys jeet
>>7862246Post the link faggot or post your work. Otherwise shut the fuck up you add nothing to the discussion with your pre/beg/ insight and your "no u" levels of cope.
>>7862236>You can't pirate a bookUhh...
>>7862255>Canadian>Overly emotional>Ridiculously stupid >Doesn't draw, posts on the drawing board>Completely tech illiterate >Obsessed with frugality to the point of psychosis >Won't attempt a search alone, pathological need to "scam" someone into doing it takes overKys jeet
>>7862265this genuinely describes the drawabox guy, his name is actually irshart too. you might genuinely be clowning on that shartling while he tries to steal more shit for his website. based.
>>7862265Nice headcanon
>>7862271>Nice headcanon
Do you always have schizophrenic meltdowns or did I cause this? Kek what a mind broken bitch.
Funny how every single thread on this board no matter how innocuous always devolves into madness
>>7861444Great book, fun to draw from. Only problem is you need to know the basics of perspective and drawing forms so it's a good first figure book but not a day 1 beginner book. More like after you've practiced fundamentals for a few monthsBetter than Loomis for a lot of people
>>7862282I'm pretty sure the book has sections on basic forms and perspective.
>>7862397It does. How to draw the marvel way is honestly just a really great book, it goes over everything at a very basic level and in a fun way with superheroes. There was supposed to be a new modern version but I think it got canceled
>>7862280It's women's fault, if they didn't gatekeep pussy so much, especially with ethnics, autism wouldn't be so off the charts of lately >>7861460>>7861474Don't lie niggers this book was a circlejerk from Stan Lee and for his clique of autistic retarded friends
