Most of the time it's anime or capeshit slop or worse star wars
unappealing
>>7863719Some people aren't ment to be artists. They're dull and lack creativity and imagination. They can only copy slop they see online. They're usually working class or brown or asian.
>>7863719Generic/SOVLLESS
>>7863719Third world indian/Filipino slop
>>7863719I've always liked the words facile and prosaic, but you could also say cliche, or predictable.
>>7863719eh it's OK. if I drew this at 14 I'd be proud.
>>7863813Yeah but it's generic slop that's featured on lunchboxesWhat makes someone like Jim lee draw better despite being the originator of the generic modern cape shit look
>>7863822lots of output under extreme pressure from big studios. and asian jeans. I assume this deviant art guy isn't working for anyone.
>>7863822>What makes someone like Jim lee better>despite being the originatorYou answer yourself. Something can't be generic until someone else does it first, and gets copied to the point of becoming so.
Having visual imagination is the most important skill in visual art, even though it's the least discussed. It's why some artists can make an attractive composition out of pure shapes and colors, and why some beginners are able to "cheat" their way to a good design and sort of punch above their weight class early on. Because you're drawing flat abstract shapes, you're not a 3D anatomy printer. Try to understand what this means.
idk but it really confuses me. if you have knowledge of art, why arent you using it to draw something that speaks to you?? isnt it just boring as an artist to create something boring to look at??
>>7863719I find you ugly and uninspired. What am I supposed to call you?
>>7863861>I say as I draw a 3/4 face anime girl in a void
>>7863876i try draw things that speak to me. or things i fimd hot. which speaks to me in a way i guess. my art is shit though. that being said: here is my anime girl in a void. i promise i draw other things.
making good on my prommy. see thers only two anime girls
>>7863719Begpilled
>>7863719But this is "ugly" or at least has room to improve. For one there is far too much blac in what is not a dark room, which sticks out with way too much rendering in-- everywhere else. It makes Magnetos abs look more like armor than shadows. Why is his face much less rendered with values than his body? Why is his eye a little too wide for that angle? You can tell this guy is good at finding textural reference instead of everything else.>>7863813Ok but is this guy 14? Or is he almost 30 or over?
>>7863719i quite like the drawing, OP. you just don't like it because of its subject matter ("capeshit"), but it's objectively very difficult to draw characters with defined muscle and they're skilled enough to pull off good anatomy, proportions, and color.if you want to criticize art for being untalented AND generic, then look no further than your typical soft shaded pastel chibi artist that frequents bluesky.
>>7863813That's amazing though?
>>7863813>gorgeous art>ugly deviantart watermark>jpeg format>low resolution with bizarre aspect ratioevery time, i swear to god...
>>7863719What's wrong with drawing capeshit? It's a big industry in the world of art and the reason many get into drawing.
>>7863961>Ok but is this guy 14? Or is he almost 30 or over?Doesn't really matter. I industries usually older people and that's a good thing, ageism was started by zoomcucks and it will die with them, can't wait for them to be homeless.
>>7864121>It's a big industry A single anime is selling 20x more than the entire comic book industry. It's a money laundering industry at this point and you are not invited... only Stan Ree corpse is.
>>7864178I believe that DC and Marvel are both actually profitable from their comics, despite their current slump and the current cultural irrelevance, and that side of comics is doing quite well despite all the doom and gloom... or were anyway, the collapse of Diamond Printing was basically a nuke going off for that part of the industry and stable companies are now on very shaky ground.
>>7863719>no deep knowledge of light&color>no mileage in gestural drawing>clearly over-erased sketch base (indecisiveness)>timid and boring notan modelling (probably vision defect)>80% clearly done from reference to avoid any potential warping (lack of imagination)>shallow composition (lack of multi-dimensional thinking)it's fine to suck in like 2 of these aspects but everything I listed applies to what you posted
>>7863719Low /int/, low soul. Basic grasp of fundamentals, but not the skill, understanding, or vision to effectively utilize and manipulate them in a cohesive, directed manner. Highly polished, but the underlying draftsmanship is weak, stiff, and rote. It's like the artist speedran the fundies to get them just enough to the place where they could create a minimum viable product. This is a person with very little soul, curiosity, or vision. The ingredients for a good drawing are there, but the artist doesn't know how to cook without a recipe. Also, the hands are atrocious.
>>7863719Are there still star wars fags in 2026 lol
Oh wow, I'm pleasantly surprised to see a thread about this because I've had this thought about some people's art before. That sense of - it's not Technically Bad and I can see what is being attempted, but it is just not connecting with me. Or rather, it's like I can't Feel the artist behind the drawing, if that makes sense. You could say, that art is about communication - doesn't have to be anything deep, can be as simple as "I really like Asuka", "Cars are cool", "I find knees quite sexy". Just something honest, that the artist can share with you. A point of view, perhaps? A personality? Something like that. It's possible, that a lot of artists that are boring this way are afraid of being too honest about what they like. So they draw more on autopilot. Or maybe they are actually showing their personality, but it's really boring and generic, so it reflects in their work. There's this one art youtuber, Pikat, that I think is good at conveying art advice well, but at the same time, her art just does absolutely nothing for me. It doesn't help that she hops on trends, either. She does seem to have a personality in her videos, so I wonder why it doesn't come through her art much? All the elements are there (she's much better than me, to be absolutely honest lol), but it's just Meh.https://www.instagram.com/pikat.io/To answer the question, I think "impersonal" is a word that fits. Also, just for fun, I made a graph.
>>7863719Comic book slop
>>7863719you have mechanical skill but lack the inspiration and soul. I have this problem, I can't draw anymore because I'm so stressed about my shitty real life problems. Its crazy that drawing only works if you're in a good mood, no wonder pewdiepie got good so fast. Half my brain's RAM is dedicated to just trying to not kill myself.
the worst thing you can do is make your drawings look like you worked hard on them
>>7864121It's a genre that has strangled an ENTIRE ART FORM to death for fucking decades thanks to the Marvel/DC duopoly that deliberately pushed anything else out. The French and Japanese have demonstrated that there is much more that can be done with a medium like this. American comics are considered merely "for children", because t's the same fucking stories retold over and over.
Some people max out technique before they touch the aesthetics skill tree
>>7865017There are graffiti artists who you can't hold a candle to buddy. As a matter of fact, I find your chart to just be completely subjective with no actual roots in reality.
>>7865431Fair enough. I was thinking more of the average bus stop scribbles I see in my city, but you're right that "graffiti artist" is a much wider category than that.
>>7865477I didn't expect you to be reasonable. You're a fine person. Sorry if I came off as antagonistic for no reason, I was ready to argue with a nodraw.
Ariel Olivetti has some incredible works, but some are incredibly boring: stark, static, and frozen images with little dynamism despite his meticulous composition. He overuses proportions and stylistic touches. I much prefer his traditional work to his digital pieces.
>>7864178This means that if you're drawing, you're much more likely to find good work with Marvel or DC than you are with manwha or manga. Rockhe Kim for example splits the difference and makes more doing covers for Marvel.
>>7863719/int/
>>7864547only non retarded post ittwhat you nodraws call "soul" is just skill&technique that's so far beyond your /beg/ asses it's light for (You) is in the fuckin infrared rangewhether you get there by being autistic about Asuka, Megaman or whatever the fuck doesn't matter
>>7863719capshit or most anime
>>7864547I'll never get how americantards can have this kind of art on their shelves and yet even consider to pursuit somekind of anime slop shit.
>>7866200No one aside from D&D nerds and mid level art collectors have a Frazetta print or Frazetta original on their walls in America, you're thinking of Mormon Jesus.
>>7866221I do agree with you, but if Frazetta is ''mid tier art'' imagine what anime is so... And everything on this board is a nerd thing
yea dude comic book art is so unappealing and generic bro*draws 8 trillionth anime girl on white background*
>>7865431>>7865478NTA but why is everybody so combative by default, it couldn't hurt to give people the benefit of the doubt until its explicitly clear you're dealing with an a-hole right?
>>7866328You know why people in da hood are combative or avoidant by default? Because their environment taught them that they have to be in order to survive. This environment is infested with crabs, nodraws and trolls. It's best to assume everyone is a piece of shit until proven otherwise. The amount of times I've tried to genuinely help somebody with a critique only for the faggots to reveal they never had any intention of looking for advice has been enough to where it's best to just assume the worst and then change your opinion afterward rather than be taken for a retard.
