Low int they just need something more to give them that “oomph” but idk exactly what

>>7866294
High beg on the way to Low int bc you’re a really good artist but darken your darks bc the shading pattern is there but the value execution isn’t

not really a fixed lore, no. its some sort of hard scifi universe though, i also draw a bunch of mecha. if you like my stuff check out maschinenkrieger or blame (manga), thats where i got a lot of inspiration from recently.
>>
>>7866288
Okay I know what they need: more form. Your shape language and variety is so strong but it’s so flat in so many places. Try to find a way to keep this style in terms of lines but make it so that the viewer can “feel” the forms

If this is your best work then low beg if not maybe mid but you still have a long way to go

>>7866583
I’d say high beg but on the way to low until you keep challenging yourself this way. Like you couldn’t pay me draw an arm in perspective like that. Anatomy is the biggest thing holding you back right now. You’re doing a good job of executing the idea and making it look interesting to the viewer but it’s at the expense of the anatomy not being as on point

>>7866444
High beg. Draw some mannequins and simplified humans before tackling stuff like this

>>7866430
Mid beg,put aside some time to study . Looks like you draw for pleasure a lot which is good in the long run but if you really want to improve you should take some time to crack open a book or do some life drawings
>>
>>7866366
I don’t feel I gave this enough crit. Your simplified anatomy and shape language is good especially with round shapes but I just don’t know what’s happening here. The perspective is super wonky if that’s a building, the background is very lazy, and what are those circles? If you’re gonna do this type of style give the rest of the piece this simple yet comprehensive approach same as you’ve given the body, which is clearly what you put the most thought into.

>>7866628
Yeah, I really hate drawing backgrounds. It would explain why the perspective is so fucky since I was like "I'm drawing a lad, I'll worry about the background later". I'll have to work more on it in the future. I'm glad you like the anatomy and shape language!

Yeah i can confirm that you sit comfortably in high/beg/ and you are not far from becoming low /int/. I think your weakest point is the line art, the anatomy is fine, the coloring and shading is good and i like this attempt at perspective. Overall i think you're GMI if you continue to improve.

>>7866288
Lots of errors (left hand in #2 is egregious) a bit stiff and awkward, and the construction is a little flat and wonky in some places, but inside you resides the spark of a potential high tier hardsurfacepilled /mg/chad. Good line confidence, I can tell that you rawdogged the lineart with very little stabilization. Despite the jank, construction is your strongest suit right now. Low /int/, high ZOVL, high potential. The last one posted ITT makes me think you can pretty quickly rise to mid/int/ and higher, it's a pretty impressive piece.
>>7866294
Fairly polished, good linework, aesthetically pleasing despite the footfaggotry. Somewhat hard to really tell your true skill level due to the narrow range of subject matter, you could either be low /int/ or someone who has grinded symbol-drawings of feet to a mirror sheened polish.
>>7866345
/int/. Highly polished and cohesive but somewhat lacking in a few areas (the hand for instance) where it seems you can't quite nail the stylization.
>>7866349
High /beg/. Cute.
>>
The new (You) limiting spam filter sucks. 4chon pls chage it bakc pls. I guess I'll post more of my junk until I get through all the (You)s I want to get through.
>>7869841
I re-evaluated that the last one is mid /beg/, but higher appeal/soul and stylistic cohesiveness lets it punch above its weight.
>>7866366
Pre/low /beg/. Stylistically cohesive, but it's clear that you're mainly just interested in expressing your fetish. Your perverted lust will either drive you to get better to render your fetish in higher fidelity or damn you to perma/beg/ hell, being content with autistically drawing the same symbol drawn butts for all eternity.
>>7866370
Decent observational skills, interesting and aesthetically pleasing rendering/linework and composition, practically zero constructive ability to speak of. High /beg/, but aesthetically pleasing.
>>7866390
High /beg/. The construction is a bit wonky, but fairly serviceable, and your ink rendering needs refinement, but it's very effortpilled and detailmaxxed. The patience needed to put down all these meticulous lines and patterns will carry you far. Just work on the bigger picture with your construction and gesture skills.
>>
I changed my mind again. The one I switched to mid /beg/ is clearly high /beg/. I have a hard time accurately scaling /beg/ work, I'm sorry. It's taking me some time to calibrate my ratings.
>>7866583
Low /beg/, but very high effort and willing to challenge yourself, which is praiseworthy.
>>7866718
I rate you similarly to the last.
>>7866721
Low /int/. It just feels slightly janky due to it feeling a bit stiff and the shading not making complete sense, but it's stylistically cohesive and polished enough to mitigate those flaws.
>>7866935
Low /int/. Stiff gesture, wonky construction and foreshortening. Okay anatomy, although the musculature on the left arm is completely wrong. It appears that you basically just rawdog your drawings in one go without much planning. If you put more effort into the planning phase you'd possibly create a more polished and presentable drawing and rate a little higher (I have the same problem, desu ne). On a side note, the subject matter is cringe, very shallow and lazy strawmen. Rather boomerish in its out of touch hamhandedness. The Xe/Xer for example looks like a generic old fashioned punk stereotype, nothing at all like the often out of shape (over or under weight) and dysgenic queers and troons currently chimping out in Minnesota screeching at ICE officers. Soijaks on the other hand tend to more accurately caricature the targets of their ridicule and some are actually quite funny. I'd recommend actually studying your subjects so that you can hate them more accurately. Remember, WWHMD (What Would Hatemonger Do?).
>>
>>7867008
Low /int/.
>>7867132
Vacillates strangely between high /beg/ to almost but not quite low /int/. Leftmost drawing is quite good, although on closer inspection one can see the awkwardness of the lineart and rendering and the subtle offness of the perspective. The middle one is a bit more off and the right one looks like it falls squarely in high /beg/ tier, due to how flat and oddly proportioned the characters are.
>>7867190
High /int/.
>>7867215
Solidly /int/.
>>7867761
Low /int/. Neat painting style.
>>
>>7868115
High /beg/. Flat, stiff gesture.
>>7868240
You're /int/ tier, you cheeky lil' humblebragger you :)
Goofy ahhh hand thoughbeit, I'll have to dock a point for that.
>>7868317
A bit hard to tell due to how unfinished this is, but I'd say low /int/.
>>7868318
Low /int/.
>>7868483
Low /int/, maybe high /beg/? A bit harder to gauge since landscapes aren't my forte, but the perspective doesn't seem great. The landscape is comprised of flat shapes. The ground plane has no depth. It looks rather unfinished.
>>
>>7868500
Low /int/. Diligently finished, but the gestural and expressive qualities are rather stiff and the anatomy is a little weird in places.
>>7867836
High /beg/ but pretty polished. Aesthetic hatching and shading, nice clear values. A bit stiff and flat. Mangapilled.
>>7867900
Low /int/ but the soft/transparent brush folded 1000 times overworked rendering makes it look worse than it would be if you had done this in lineart with simpler colors. Blocking out with harder, more opaque, larger brushes would not only look better but would save you a load of time not spent indecisively widdling around with an itty bitty transparent brush.
>>7868033
/int/, although you still seem to struggle with cleanly reconciling construction and animu stylization. Study how 3D anime artists do it.

this is really cool, i’d definitely say int. and i love the messy lines, it keeps the energy of the sketch, and maps out where you’d place your values and colors perfectly if you felt like bringing it closer to finish. awesome comp, too, and consistent lighting. i’ve been working loosely in black a lot like this too lately, treating my sketches as kind of indicative rough maps, and it’s great for keeping your sketching fun, tossing out stuff at high speed, and having lots of content to pick from if you ever feel like taking things farther. really great work.

Thanks for the rating. I think you’re teetering right between high beg and low int, closer to the latter. Only thing holding you back right now is values, like some dark darks would go a long way on sketches like this. Without darks these sort of blending together. But I find the way you drew those legs in perspective to be very nice and I enjoy the proportions

You're welcome. I hope it didn't crush your soul. I did look over your drawing carefully.
One thing I would have done differently - that chest likely has some weight to it - so I think her hands would have been better placed holding it from the sides with her fingers underneath, or giving it side handles and her gripping those handles. As it stands now her hold on it looks very light as if she'd drop it.
>>
>>7872136
Oh, and one more thing, if we assume she is surfacing since she has her treasure, those green carrot tops would be more in a downwards direction instead of floating upwards (like seaweed anchored on the seafloor), since she is swimming upwards. But that's a minor one cause I don't know how you envisioned it. For all we know she could be doing a photoshoot for a magazine or something.

>>
>>7878810
Nta but if you read the chart it's pretty self explanatory. I personally think even a 5 might be too high considering your drawing doesn't really showcase your mastery over all the fundamentals. That person is just assuming based off the skill and line confidence shown that you're proficient in those other areas as well.
>>
>>7878810
Nta but it’s kind of hard to rate with only a sketch. Especially when the hands are covered and the rendering is incomplete. For example, the rendering on her upper arm looks great but then the rendering on her face is unappealing to me because the far eye’s placement and because of how prominent + high up the nasolabial fold is. I’m not sure if those things are intentional, symptoms of unfinished work, or due to a genuine skill issue without seeing more of your work.

You should only stay here until you get a majority /int/ rating, then you leave as the art is good enough for off site. Any use of this board further will net you a bunch of seethe and hate.
>>
>>7879652
I saw this in /fag/. Going by the sketch, your drawing skills are solidly /int/, there's a good sense of form and perspective there and it's quite expressive, but the rendering is genuinely awful and /beg/ tier.
>the values are all over the place (face has almost no contrast or darker shadows while the teeth have high contrast and very dark shadows)
>the shadow placement/light direction doesn't make much sense
>the colors are mainly darkened and lightened with black and white, which causes them to be muddy and gray
I saw the WIP in /fag/ and noted that you painted the underdrawing by filling the line art out in sections, fully rendering these sections out with little fussy fuzzy brushes. This is part of your problem. You should be blocking out the general color/value shapes across the whole thing and then working out the specifics so you don't get lost in the details and end up with a muddy, meandering mess. It's also simply more efficient and takes less time to get better results this way. What you're doing is essentially the painting version of chicken scratching. You would be fixing pretty much all of your issues by about 50% just by changing this.

As for the color, I prescribe you this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwLQ0cDb4cE Learning about local and perceptual color will fix your color issue.
Marco Bucci also has some other useful videos about shading and values that you should look at as well. He goes into the subject in the ambient occlusion and ambient shadow color videos, but the styrofoam ball shading video would address your issues with unclear values and inconsistent light and shadow placement.
Finally, you should probably just make a gradient with your art program and paint stars in it instead of using a grayed out artifacted JPEG that still has the dreamstime watermark on it. It's just unprofessional.

Can I get a reality check on this?
From my personal observations I believe high/beg/.
>>
>fundamentals fundamentals good fundamentals work on fundamentals
What do you guys mean by "fundamentals"

If you have to ask you’re NGMI.

Soul
>>
>>7880888
Low /beg/ but I'll at least give it to you that it's got soul even with the chicken scratching and anatomical errors. You'd do better with learning the basic anatomy scales and placements, clothing folds and wrinkles too.
>>7881144
Medium to high /beg/, I'd say high since your animal marker works are much more solid than your human ones. The pigeon, chicken and Frederick pieces are the best, the rest are alright too but not quite as good as those two. Maybe mess a bit more with the caricature style for humans, nice marker rendering though.
>>
>>7881374
: D Thanks for the compliment on my alcohol markers! When I get my tablet, should I keep working with traditional media until I'm good and then switch to the tablet, or should I go straight to the tablet
>>
>>7881659
Honestly, just go with whatever makes you happier at the moment to get you more mileage. I started with cheapo drawing basics until I bought myself a 24 pen display, mostly to save on space since it got bloated around here.
Mind you the feeling of trad to digital is pretty rough due to having to learn how to operate with the software, the drawing aspect is also different, more like working on an upright draftsman desk.
>>
>>7881374
Thank you, will be focusing on anatomy and folds then. About the folds you know any resource, a book or something; that goes deep on it? or just search photo references, observe and draw
>>
why would anyone care? do you have a goal or do you just want to posturize? what do you want to do with your doodles? a cartoon? a comic? a pretty painting you can hang on a wall?

you shouldnt ask what your level is, you should ask yourself what you want to accomplish

If you want something all encompassing I'd recommend Hogarth's Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery that he did right before he died. Mind you, you'd probably have to read his previous work on Dynamic Anatomy too for better understanding.
Although take what I say with a grain of salt, I know Hogarth doesn't get recommended to beginners due to his VERY academic style but he's extremely competent. If you want something easier for anatomy grab a Bridgman Complete guide to drawing from life or Constructive anatomy.
I'd recommend Morpho's books even with all said before though for anatomy for no headaches.
>>
>>7881752
Thanks a lot, I will be looking into Hogarth; I like academic styles and having a very indepth book on drapery is exactly what I want.
I will read both books, if I find it too hard I'll be looking into Morpho first

The cube one looks quite nice and pleasant to the eyes. The others? Bland, muddy, awful composition and coloring both. What I said might come across as rude but if I ever saw these type of works in pixiv or twitter I'd just completely gloss over it not even giving it a glance. Try something more ambitious and dynamic like you did with the cubes since that one immediately made me stop on it before all the others.
>>
To expand a bit more on that, your cube piece has flow and rhythm, something the other pieces lack. See how the cubes have a nice imaginary round line that always lead up the viewer's eyes to both the top and middle part of the canvas? That's good rhythm, which makes a good composition.

girls drawing sad angels. if I had a dollar...
that said I kind of like the drain one, but maybe it could tell more of a story, like the wings and her feet are covered in oil like those pelicans after the BP spill. though you'd need to extend them past the black circle a lot, would make a cool contrast I think.

Every time I draw, I get hit by a wave of blackpill because, by the age of 30, I still haven't learned to draw well or nicely, because I never want to make time for it, getting distracted by games, procrastination, or the decision to join the army.
>>
>>7883032
Why not just learn construction and anatomy and proper rendering instead of gooning and Vidya?
You can stop wasting your time and get to work or keep being a whiny faggot
>>
>>7883044
>Why not just learn construction and anatomy and proper rendering

Because every time he goes to draw his ego tells him he's been doing this for years and he knows that stuff then he sulks about the actual result in reality instead of humbling himself and analyzing (not judging his self worth) make a list of what he wants to improve or refine in his process.

Thanks, I have tried similar compositional 'tricks' with the others but I guess they weren't as effective. Every time I have an idea or concept that comes into my head it's always a more flat composition, especially if it involves a physical background, guess I need to focus on environments

Didnt realize I was that bad. Damn. thanks for the reality check that im lowbeg

Guess I'll just start over with robertson and DaB. what a waste of the last two years
>>
>>7884170
nta, all your painting shows is you lack observational skills. You painted that from reference. DaB and robertson won't help you learn observation, those are for constructing and perspective which you need to draw from imagination.
>>
>>7884199
thanks for the advice. not to cope too hard but when i painted that i was actually explicitly challenging myself to focus more on construction and relying on the ref as little as possible. i wanted to see if I could make a passable piece without having to analyze and recheck every angle and negative space since ive been doing a lot of 1 for 1 copies lately.

i see i have failed lmao. i will do more observational drawings and study harder. thanks

You didn't fail. When you're practicing basketball do you cry whenever your ball misses the hoop? Do you consider it a failure that punishes your ego?
No you just practice more until you get it right
>>

Low beg. Chicken scratchy lines. Poor anatomy, poor construction, poor proportions
Shitty poses that feel flat and 2D
>>
>>7884170
As a rule of thumb in art. If you think you're bad, you're most likely 100 worse than you think
>>
>>7884308
But what if you get told you’re a permaprebeg who will never be able to improve?
>>
>>7884438
You ignore them? Lmfao. Brother. I was btfo so many times when I first started. I've gotten much better than that because I just stayed consistent. The people who try to tear you down only do so because they've given up on themselves. Surround yourself with people who are still trying to grow and will elevate you. People who will be honest about where you stand and what you're doing wrong. You can find those people on here. You need to cultivate your tribe. The crabs are just noise. You can either tune into it, or not.

I've done this so many times now I feel like an attention whore. Not only that, I've riding on my coattails because I haven't done anything substantial this year that I'm proud of, so it feels like I'm just repeating the same things to people ad nauseum. I could post my work, but does it change the truth of what I'm saying?

how about this? Was there any improvement? I mean in terms of volume and construction. I can tell the head is huge, and the chicken legs lines are something I think will be hard to learn to stop doing, but I'll keep trying.

Lines are still scratchy
>>

>>

Learn perspective first. Draw primitive forms and still lives. Then you will improve in drawing bodies.
Make still lives of cones, cubes, eggs, all respecting perspective carefully. Then learn how to render them. Then draw chairs and cups and everyday items and render them well. Once you are good at this draw casts and plates. Once this is done you can move onto human figures.
You can keep drawing figures but draw these things in parallel for major improvements
