I'm a total beginner and I'm trying to follow the /ic/ learning path. I'm suffering from the so called "symbol drawing" and it seems that the first step to learning to draw is getting rid of that habit. The guide recommends two books: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and Keys to Drawing. But do I HAVE to read ALL of both books? From what I've seen from both books it's just author schizo rambling, and I don't think I have patience for that.
>>7868426the best beginner book is the sketchbook and the internet/outside
>>7868426you can skip most of the text, just do the exercises. go back and read it if you're confused about what the exercise is about.Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain has a workbook version which is mostly just the exercises.
>>7868426Forget that book. Draw this box 100 times.
>>7868438Your line work is sophomoric
>>7868426You don't need to read entire books. Just do the practice exercises from that book.
>>7868426what do you want to draw lmao
>>7868426The 'trick' is to oscillate between the brain’s hemispheres, rather than favoring just one. One hemisphere [the instinctive one] simply accepts the world as it is, while the other[ the one of will] seeks to impose its own intentions. If you create solely from one perspective, you will produce unbalanced art: either too redundant or too autistic.
>>7868455Mmm, yes, sophmoric line work. Very much so indeed if I do say so myself.
