Looking up old anime on archive dot org, found something called Key The Metal Idol. When the OP hit, I was *instantly* enamored. Hot damn that shit so good bruh oughhhh fuuuuugggggg that animation, and that bassline, I'm gonna be bumping that shit for daaaaysI've always really liked this style of anime. We had Xenosaga Episode 1 for the PS2 when I was a kid, so it's always kind of stuck with me. I love how expressive the shapes of the face are and how they change depending on angle, and how it's simultaneously so 3D yet so abstracted. It's so cool.
Thanks to that one cool furfag for turning me on to a chisel marker brush, by the way. This thing kicks so much ass.

If you do learn some anatomy and construction you ought to come back to this piece and remake it to see if you made it better or you became study brained and lost the sovl of this piece.

I feel like if I can fill up the 50 pages of this mini sketchbook, I'll have something.But Carlos Nine was on some god tier shit. His sense of form feels supernatural, and it's obvious he directly inked for that loose/animated effect. Probably take a lifetime to get to that level.

It makes a nice screentone texture and has other actions to make the art look more textured and older.
