Going through the chinese anatomy book right now and........what? i can't quite follow the flow of the work. theres so many different sections that references later part i dont understand the reading orders. How am i supposed to learn anatomy through this?
Draw some boxes first. Figure drawing isn't for beginners.

>>7878784>>7878783Less clutter
>>7878759>draw vertical centerline>draw horizontal centerline >mark brow cornersthat's literally it, the initial head lay-in barely matters, just draw a blob, it's fine

>>7878759This is real simple and basic shit, hombre. All he's asking you to do is make a head shape and put a cross on it. The thing here is that the artist takes even less time teaching you the raw fundamental basics of construction than even Fun With A Pencil does, and that's what you're choking on, not the "anatomy" part. You're trying to learn anatomy built on a constructive/perspective framework when you don't even seem to really know how to interact with the canvas in that way to begin with.>>7878780Protip: Try drawing with either a binary brush (no pressure size/opacity) or a pressure-opacity only brush. Make them small, hair thin if binary, a bit thicker if opacity so that you can still see your line easily even when it's lightly drawn. This will reduce the visual clutter when you're drawing by a lot. Then you can go over lines with a larger and/or darker brush to emphasize what needs to be emphasized. If you insist on using a pressure-size brush, edit the pressure curve so that it takes intentional force to vary the line width.
>>7878759>doesn't know how to draw from observation>expects to somehow just know how to draw from observing a drawing in a bookNot too disimilar from trying to read something without knowing what the letters in the alphabet are
>>7879114I know how to draw from observation alright but the things teaching out of order
>>7879178no you don't, as evidenced by you being unable to replicate the drawing in the book by observing it
>>7879204What evidence? I was copying the instructions alright but the more detailed techniques are rather iffy since i literally haven't learned it.

I took the time to look this book up and- well- what in the actual fuck are you doing, OP? The book isn't teaching anything out of order, you skipped about a quarter of the way through the book while you're still getting tripped up by basic construction and can't draw a head and place a cross on it. Fuck's sakes, OP. You could perhaps at least try reading the fucking book, in order, from the beginning.
>>7878759Try Fun with a Pencil first
>>7878761figure and gesture are the first thing you learn in art class you fucking retard
>>7879323Not him, but I'm 35 and I have never once even heard the term gesture at any point of my academic training, and we drew casts and still life for the first two years before starting figure drawing.

>>7879323It should be third.
>>7879306yesyou deserve to stagnate
>>7879362LMAO WTF IS THIS
>>7879376pyw
>>7879306I literally don't understand these complaints. Is there some God somewhere forbidding you from doing two different things? Why can't you draw boxes and ALSO draw the things you like, while applying whatever you learned from the boxes? How do you expect to ever get anywhere if you're so hell bent on avoiding actually drawing? Also, you know, if basic 3D forms are still giving you trouble, you know you can just literally set up a vanishing point and use a ruler for the lines? Like they taught back in primary school? You still remember that shit? Autismal but tedious but gets the job done. Or you grind until you can freehand it, your choice.
>>7878780You need practice drawing basic things with construction before you try a face. You're just not ready. I'm not even saying don't draw faces, you can still draw them straight-up for now, but every now and then try throwing some of the construction stuff at a portrait and see what it sucks. Then when you get back to studying construction on heads it'll make more sense and it'll answer some of the questions you probably have
>>7879428>try throwing some of the construction stuff at a portrait and see what it sucks. And see what sticks Sorry bad autocorrect there.
>>7879346found the pedobrained retard
>>7879323>>7879351well, gesture is generally the first thing I were instructed on in a life drawing class, but in regular art 101s, its generally some sort of abstraction, sometimes the form of a crumpled paper bags challenge, and instructions on basic material handling and still life and observation methods. >>7879334academic training sounds like you went to an atelier, its probably more specialized than run-of-the-mill community college class, but they probably have something similar, but I suspect its just a phase in construction that quickly capture the motion line of the figure.
>>7878759These are your drills. You’re supposed to copy every page until the system makes sense to you.
>>7878759It's an asian book, try reading it from right to left
>>7879453>ITS A FAGGOT lollmao
>>7879428so for now i just draw apples and shit? and slowly incorporate the book while using loomis shit for that
so what should i do rn
>>7878759A few things you should keep in mind about constructing faces/heads. This is not a critique of this particular method, just awareness you should have for all methods in general.-You do not have to follow these things "verbatim". The important thing is that they have a rote method for keeping things consistent. You should have a method too.-Your method is going to be unique, because everyone has different weaknesses, and construction is a tool for you to overcome them.-I'm going to assume you might have trouble with the very first step. You probably aren't able to draw a rough head outline from intuition (observation + memory) as he does. It may follow then that you might want to construct that some way as well.-The artist is showing how he "maps out" features, which changes with perspective. Note the importance of the center line, dividing the center line to find face proportions, and using an object-based approach to define entire regions of a face, rather than just drawing the features. He doesn't just draw the lips of the mouth, he defines there entire muscle area of the mouth. He doesn't just draw the opening of the eyes, he draws the entire eye socket.

>>7880172god its the face
>>7878759>>7878811>>7878816>>7878824>>7878828>>7878830I tried reading through it, but I feels it describes everything in excruciating details but explains very little, and it doesn't seen very helpful because to try to draw character kept on-model in multiple angles seems like a intermediary tutorial but someone like that wouldn't have needed step-by-step demo that's better suited in video format, its better to explain the theory and practice. I feel this is reminiscent AI generated art book that's been popping up because they can just reverse-engineer demo like this. Without seeing what other type of information its been presenting in the rest of the book I couldn't say for sure, but its just very inefficient use of pages.
>>7878759I'm curious, when a beg shees those blue shapes on top, do they not immediately see heads looking in different directions? What about this is so hard?
>>7880199maybe
>>7878759Weichun's book filters the constructlets. I recommend morpho's simplified before you try that book. I mean they literally talk about how to segment and draw the body in 4 point perspective within the 1st chapter. Lmao.
I tried again using a character i am familar with and got some better results methinks
