enough about recommended drawing tools; what's the worst thing you've ever drawn with?
for me it's these pieces of fucking shit. these things are completely unusable, as in they literally do not function. incredibly scratchy and the ink just does not come out half the time. even a dried-up bic pen is more usable than this shit. i did a sketch holding a tiny fragile stick of .5 mm colored lead between my fingers and it was a more pleasant drawing experience than trying to use these

I swear on everything they changed the ink formula or something. That used to be my go to doodle pen, and then I could never buy a decent one after I used my first pack.

Also fuck watercolor pencils. Total scam

i bought mine years ago and they sucked then

If they're anything like these, then they're secretly OP. I bought a 2-pack recently and I think I found my new favorite pen. The difficulty in getting the ink to flow is actually a good thing for me because it means I can get these wispy fine lines and build up hatching nicely with them, but can also go super dark and bold with more pressure.

I don't really hate a lot of "worsts," though. I guess charcoal pencils mystify me. I usually want to build drawings out of lines and it feels like charcoal is diametrically opposed to any approach other than flat tones. Hate how it smears and fuzzes easily. Yeah fuck charcoal I guess.

Bought these as a novelty item at some point thinking they would be useful considering how goated dip pens are. Can confirm that these things are basically useless.

Fineliners, but hear me out:
I press too hard with my pens so the tip of the 005s goes back in the sheaths and I can't get them out and have to toss the pens. I'm much happier now with Hi Tec .25mms

i have some hi-tec-c .25mms coming in the mail today that i'm looking forward to trying.

skill issue

I only use dip and gel pens for this exact reason, microns and felt tips are too expensive to destroy

I like them while they work, because I like bold/calligraphic strokes and they have this lovely rough-hewn quality. Bought one and have barely used it. The issue is the "while they work" part - they can't hold ink for shit and feel wildly inefficient. I think you can improve ink flow and retention with some modifications but I haven't tried it.

I'd rather find a spare twig on the ground and drag it across a page, that pen serves no purpose
