In fact I cant even name a single chinese artist (someone that actually draw and paint on top of a canvas) and recognize their works instantly; I dont even know their style or movement or what kind of art that they made in there. A lot of power comes from having a large population, and a lot of power comes from other countries having the idea that you have a large population. So it's just a matter of how much we think the Chinese government would be willing to exaggerate their numbers.
