I have a headache is this because of my diminished neuroplasticity and advanced aphantasia how do I manage to draw through this?
What's a retard-proof guide to rendering? The loomis book was a huge help for helping a retard like me begin to draw
>>7884923What's the best guide on all cloud colors and the various conditions they can appear in? Sometimes they'll look vivid pink, sometimes they'll be super dark blue, they'll look kind of greenish during tornadoes and such, etc.
What do I tag futa x female porn? Does yuri and futa work so people not into futa can filter it? It’s two girls so it’s still yuri right
>>7884928Terminate your brain to feel better.>>7884993Retards are too ingenius to retard proof.>>7885075Clouds are gay.>>7885079Depends on what the futa identifies as.
Does anyone here use AI as part of their workflow? I don't mean proompting images and pretending you drew it. AI gets a lot of hate here but I honestly think it's pretty cool and I'm wondering how it can be utilized as a tool without sacrificing creativity. Thought about making a thread for this question but I imagine it would just turn into a shit flinging contest.
>>7885079i'm a yurifag girl x girl is yuri even if one has a magical dick if you use "futa", you're going to get angry trannies @'ing you or in your comments so beware of that but it's polite to add it in so others can filter it
>>7884923Any recommendations on musical instrument sellers with a wider, rarer selection?
>>7884923Does anyone know how he creates this effect consistently? I guessing its saving at low compression tons of times but wondering if anyone else had any ideas.
What do you do when you feel a burnout coming?
Is timed gesture drawing helpful if you're trying to improve observation and accuracy?
>>7886247Yeah it can help.Usually you do timed gesture drawing to focus on gesture. The shorter time and focus on gesture helps you get a lot of repeated and focused practice. But this also makes it more difficult as you don't have much time to fix your mistakes. You can do the same by focusing on your observation and accuracy skills. Since we draw in stages, the beginning of the drawing is pretty important as everything is built on top of that. Sometimes you only notice accuracy mistakes later on in the drawing. So if you get good at blocking in the basic proportions in the early stages, that can save you a lot of time later on. Redrawing the same figure is helpful to point out accuracy mistakes, and with shorter drawings it's not that tedious. You might notice you made the legs too short, so you can focus specifically on that for the next attempt. If your still a beginner this might be too hard at first. Slower and longer accuracy studies where you measure a lot might be more useful at first. Then you can come back to shorter drawings with better accuracy skills so you can focus on getting decently accurate block-ins.
>>7885364I use FireAlpaca for art and it gives you a slider for quality if you choose to save as a jpg. It might not be exactly what you're looking for though.
How to get the genetics to be able to draw well? I can practice as much as I want.
>>7886623Suck yellow dick. Make sure to swallow the cum. As you digest it your body will take on the asian genes.
how do you have fun?
I know there are verying degrees of talent, but based on personal experiences, about how long does it take for applying yourself to start netting you some results you can call "good"? I just draw from time to time, I don't take it too seriously, it's just a thing I do now and again, but I am learning as I do it, small things come together and I see improvement even if it's utterly minute. I'm curious what a realistic ballpark is for having something presentable. I'd really like to have the skills to make some of my ideas real, or rather, make ideas at all, if God wills it.
>>7887206it never gets better unless you have talentif you have talent with daily practice you can start being decent in just half a year of daily practice and studying
>>7887206I draw since decades and still only produce shit. Sometimes I have phases where my drawings are better but usually i only produce crap. You need to have a lor of natural talent and also need to draw daily for hours to be good. It's like being a body builder. You need the rught genes to be a good bodybuilder and you also need to train daily. You need both.
>>7887229You learn by correcting your mistakes, not by doing the same thing over and over>It's like being a body builder.Yes, what you're doing is lifting the same weight and doing the same reps, never reaching failure and wondering why you're not experiencing hypertrophy
>>7887247>not by doing the same thing over and overThings I never said...
>>7887249Dude hasn't made it so he's blaming genetics instead of bad instruction. He fails to mention that IFBB pros usually have COACHES that gives the person tailor made instructions to improve composition where he probably "just draw" like shit thinking that he can do it on his own.
>>7887285y our ass faggot
>>7887296Yo, say that to my face I'll FUCK YOU UP. I bet I draw better than you too, faggot.
Learning to draw is so stupid HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DRAW WHAT I SEE IF I’M DRAWING FROM IMAGINATION?
>>7887303Draw what you see in your imagination. Sometimes they're impossible poses and the medium you're using has a say on how it will come out as well. Also your brain tends to morph the thing you think of drawing as time goes on so it's good to know how to simplify things into easy compositional shapes then know enough anatomy/structure to complete it. That's why life drawing is a great tool, if you're truly doing it you'll get 30 mins with a model then they'll take a break or something then go back into that pose, but it isn't ever the same, either the time of day passing or they can't capture that pose the same way as the first time, that's when you lean on your knowledge to fill in the gaps.
>>7887298PYW i bet its shitty and gay.
What's a good brand for acrylic markers?
>>7887900If we are doing something nice, Arrtx brush tips. Be a little careful if you're buying them on amazon-- You'll start with a brush tip specified and then look at other color options, and it's very easy to wind up with other nibs.We also have a couple of packs of Artistro (some inexpensive unknown brand). 24 pens for around $8. They're surprisingly serviceable.
is there any way to draw short stacks without being accused of pedophilia
>>7888039Don’t draw children. Draw midgets. If you can’t tell the difference you’re not smart enough to be an artist.
Why am I scared of drawing when I want to draw? I don't want attention or praise, I just want to make my ideas tangible and to my own standards. Why am I scared of being judged when nobody but me is judging me?
>>7888155just shad up.
>>7888155Internalized narcissism
This Is kind of a dumb one, but I don't know where else to ask.I recently changed my whole setup, and nothing feels the same. I feel like my drawing skills ha e significantly gotten worse as a result.I am struggling takong decisions, such as keepong Windows ink disabled or abled, or rising the stabilization. How manu of you guys have Windows ink on? How high Is your stabilizer? Reading several answers might help me make a proper choice, please, let me know your thoughts.
>>7888309Sorry about the typoes, eng is not my first language and I have to fight against my phone's auto-corrector as I write. That question now sounds 10 times dumber as a result, which hopefully makes it a better fit for the thread
How long after I start HRT will I be able to draw with the SOVL of a woman?
>>7888155I know that feel. I think it's because drawing becomes such a personal thing after a while. It's almost like looking in the mirror. It becomes a reflection of yourself and if you don't like that reflection then that sucks.
how the hell do i stop having compression mess up my posts on insta/twitteri keep the dpi at 300 but is 1080 × 1080px and saving my image as a png to upload not good enough?
>>7888546There is always huge misinformation on dpi.The dpi info is only used by the printer, to know how big an image should be on paper (254dpi prints 100pix in 1cm).I don't use many socials, but most, if not all of them, will try to make some sort of compression, regardless.
>>7888555i get that but checking my images when actually uploaded and seeing how others they dont have that low quality look makes me think im doing something wrong with my canvas settings
For people who take months to finish a single piece, besides busy people neets also do this. How does that happen??
>>7888774Nta but I have a similar question, how do I find a workflow that forces me to take longer on a piece? Like, rendering and stuff
>>7888155I struggle with the same thing anon. Maybe it will help to doodle more, sit down and doodle whatever comes to your head. It helps me a bit at least. You can also tell yourself "I've already proved myself, and now I'm drawing what I like because I enjoy it." Because at the end of the day, what is the point in proving yourself? So that you can finally sit down and enjoy what you do.
>>7888840This. What helped me a bit was also to buy smaller sketchbooks, like 9x12 sketchbooks, because drawing smaller requires less willpower and goes faster
>>7888846>>7888840Or also just drawing digitally helps, because you can always undo mistakes easily.
How do you post art on Instagram? I usually upload mine to twitter so I'm kinda out of the loop posting on insta. Looks to me like you really have to go out of your way to find a way to send your art to your phone to get the full upload features like music embed, which is such a hassle
>>7887206When I draw consistently and with some focus on a single topic at a time while accepting that mistakes are the breadcrumb trail that leads to success I see progress and when I flit around inconsistently and put bits of effort into too many topics I stagnate.
>>7889786Which is to say the timeline depends entirely on what you consider presentable and where you're currently at. If you want to draw anime girls in a white void you should be able to get to the point where you can post something that's clearly amateur, but worthy of showing off in 1-2 years if you're actually putting in the work.

Whats the best hair color for pink eyed characters?I mean real pink not light red nor light violet
I'm not even sure anymore if I still should color traditionally... Whenever I scan in the colors they look muddy and desaturated. Do I need a very expensive scanner for this? Or should I just color digitally?
Is 300 gm enough for paper to not get waves when working with water color on it?
>>7891044You can boost saturation digitally, either by manipulating color curves (or a simple saturation slider) yourself. Most photoshop variants will also have a one-size-fits-all "color enhance" filter. If you want truer color reproduction, you probably need to get into color management. This often involves a color target, which is a professionally printed card with variety of squares of exact known colors. (IT8 target is one expensive type.) You can either use this card to calibrate your scanner and then rely on that calibration, or you can include the card in each scan or photograph. When you adjust the card colors in your scan to the known values (manually or using specific software), you'll also be correcting the colors in your artwork.Sorry for the clunky description of the process.
>>7891350Interesting,thanks! I will try to see what I can do next time.
What's a good workout routine that doesn't risk damaging the wrists?
>>7891646Why are you worried about damaging your wrists? You draw with your arm, elbow or shoulders Elbow for control, shoulder for arcs. The only thing the wrist is good for is flicking lines in.

Post the most retarded method to draw the two eyes in perspective I'm going insane trying to understand how to draw them
>>7884923what exact muscle is it that causes the 'W' under the mouth?
>>7891967It's not so simple as you make it out to be.There is a wide muscular ring around the mouth (it extends beyond the visible lips) called the orbicularis oris. It's made of four pieces that flex in the direction of the circumference of the mouth. The lowermost central border probably corresponds with the top center of your W. Then there is a series of muscles which extend from the lower edge of the mouth downward, to anchor at the chin and the region below the mouth at either side. None of these muscles overlap the centerline of the face, but increase the thickness either side of the chin, contributing to the two troughs of your W.Then there is the layer of skin overlaying it all, and how well that skin is suspended/supported by the muscles around the mouth and the cheek area.Your best bet is probably cosmetic surgery sites that will put a name to a more pronounced W and tell what changes will reduce it.
>>7892016ok that is a place to start. thank you.
>>7887900Posca, montana, copic acrea, molotow. You can also get like empty ones and fill them with various brands' acrylic ink or sometimes other types. Holbein and daler-rowney make some empty markers for this purpose. Angelus also supports this for their own leather paint, if dilluted with their special thinner. DecoArt recently came out with a "marker maker" additive to mix with their paints for markers, but I haven't tested that.Posca is the easiest to find but all of them have a learning curve. You don't want to press into the paper, just glide it along and let the nib surf on the paint film.
Yeah I got a question for the dumbass mod who moved my thread to trash and then banned me for three days. Let’s review this.>go to /ic/, the art board to post art>don’t want to spam the general threads>plenty of shitposting threads are made and stay up, no harm making a thread where I post new art>thread created February 9th>consistently post new art>thread reaches 70 posts before suddenly being moved to trash>bot spammer remains unbanned>get banned for three days for “positing ponies outside of /mlp/“>the designs were humanized and otherwise unrecognizable until I said soThink about that, /ic/. Let the record show that I’m finally the first person ever to have to be banned and have their thread moved from the art board for posting too much art. Meanwhile the guy who literally scribbles and some Breadwinners faggot get to stick around? Are you fuckin kiddin me? People have said /ic/ sucks now but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and figured that surely it wouldn’t mind a head that honors what the board’s all about. I’ve been browsing 4chan for 21 years, when this fuckin mod was probably still in his dad’s balls. You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me. And you fuckers get so bitter when people bring up Discord. Yeah, this is why. I’m so disappointed. /co/ and /v/ were always pretty lousy, but at least /ic/ had talented artists and expectations. You’ve chased nearly all of them away now. Count me as one of them.

>>7892023they're just nuclear about the horse thing, the rest of your post is irrelevant
>>7892023stay in your containment board ponyfucker
>>7892020I have an anatomy textbook that I did look over, trying to find your answer. It's basically all photos of corpses in various states of dissection. There were several shots of the lower face with skin removed and the muscles exposed. Surprisingly, even when the muscles overlaid one another, the overall surface was quite continuous. That is, I didn't see an obvious cliff or depression at the edge of the orbicularis oris. Perhaps dead muscles dry out and flatten, and that smooth result is particular to corpses. Otherwise, it must be that the pronounced W around the mouth is skin-related rather than muscular.Good luck with the plastic surgery sites.
>>7884993>Sketch>Base coat (mid tones)>Shading>Lighting>Highlights>Lowlights>Occlusion/Bounce Lights>Colourpicker + Small Brush for details>Fuck around until it looks doneMake sure you use reference for colour/lighting
>>7892227The easiest and most effective way of rendering is actually monochrome shading. Just paint the dark areas wirh grey and then paint it over with the color and afterwards add highlights. This way you get different tones in the shadows without having to mix diffetent colors
so the scapula moves because the humerus moves the acronium process, right?
God trying to copy anatomy from books and other references is so fucking boring and difficult my brain just shuts off. If anyone else had this problem what other alternative methods or tips do you have to get over this and study anatomy more efficiently? Sorry if pic related is rough, I wasn't sure how best to convey the issues I have with replicating what I see, it's from Anatomy for Sculptures.
>>7892947focus on a part of the body you actually want to study for a bit or calm down and realize it’s gonna be tough. i often tell myself haha this shit is boring and the teacher sucks when i don’t understand how to do something or i can’t figure it out. then i think a little harder and i either get it or i take a break/go read another chapter of the book
>>7892947Instead of just trying to copy references you can always try to make your own sketches and then search for references which could fit to the sketch. Instead following the regerence you just try to integrate it into your work. However this requires more reference searching since you really need to be specific about what fits to your drawing.
How important is drawing from life and making it feel 3 dimensional? I'm not actually interested sitting down and drawing things in my house or garden, but I see people saying its very important. I assume it's because it teaches you translating a real 3D object into a 2D surface. For clarification I'm interested in characters / environments, copying things from a book like anatomy for artists by weichun is alot more enjoyable, probably because its closer to what I actually like.
>>7893335It's overrated. The only difference compared to photo references is that IRL everything is in curvilinear perspective, mesning you have translate fisheye optics. Plus it's more annoying to really compare the lines and proportions, because with a photo you can just put it on your lap and the drawing paper right next to it, but with IRL you mostly need a setup or else you cant compare the lines well
So I asked 4 friends which cool tones they thought were cooler and which warm tones they thought were warmer, and all of them thought cyan was cooler than pure blue and orange was warmer than pure redAny particular reason? I want to say it has something to do with perceptual brightness but I don’t think many people would say that yellow was warmer than red in that case
>>7893955Video games, perhaps. Ice spells are almost always some combination of cyan and white. And the hottest part of flame / fire / explosion is the white core, so that would make orange warmer than the typical peripheral red.
>>7893955Yellow is literally the color of the sun. Can't get more warm than this.

can i do master studies with just a black ballpoint pen, if so how do i go about it. im poor.
I’ve given up drawing I’ll never be any good at it. What should I do now I was thinking of speed running video games but I don’t want to be trans.
>>7895569Ballpoint pen can look really good. Check out the drawings of Shohei (i think was his name), the son of Katsuhiro Otomo. He uses ballpoint pen too.
>>7895576Speedrunning is pure misery. Don't do it. If you want to play hard games, just olay arcade games for 1 credit clears, or whatever.
>>7895569Cheap blue bic is comfy. They work really well if you enjoy hatching. I do keep a paper towel handy and wipe the end occasionally, else a little blob can build up and drop in the middle of otherwise very light shading.I don't remember if pic related was originally blue or black ballpoint. He's boxed away somewhere.
Sorry for the green text, but it's the only way I can explain my situation without writing a wall of text.>work for one client who runs some kind of virtual publishing thing on Patreon>he gives me enough work to support my family>problem is I don't like what he asks me to draw most of the time>problem worsens when he asks me to contribute ideas for scenarios that go against my sexual orientation (I'm straight)>everything is behind a paywall so I can only post the few images he shares online>lately I've been wanting to open up and offer my services to other clients>but there are two clients I worked with in the past who have been waiting months for me to be available>feel like I owe them and should work with them before looking for new clientsHere's the thing though. I'd have to juggle their work on top of my already heavy workload with my main client, and the prices I agreed with them back then are less than half of what I charge now because I didn't know my worth yet. I tried something like this before and got so stressed and irritable that my family told me to go back to my psychiatrist and up my antidepressant dose. I don't want to go through that again. So as I see it I have three options:>Honor my commitment to the two waiting clients one at a time, accept the old prices, then look for new clients after>Forget about those two and just start offering my services to new clients at my current rates>Change nothing, keep working with my main client only, maybe start taking one day off a weekWhat would you do?
>>7895846kill yourself and stop drawing porn furfag.
>>7895846I would just take the client who has the best taste in your opinion, as long as he pays you enough that you can live from it.I guess you have a family you want to support tho, right? So in that case, i'm not sure. Probably would have to take the money route then, instead of the fun route. I don't even want to imagine having to support a family as an artist tho. That must be quite stressfull. It's already hard enough to just support yourself as an artist, unless you are super talented maybe.

That way, I could continue to support my family while also reducing my stress level a bit.

Why does every tutorial and guide for art seem so wishy washy? "Bro just trust me you'll figure it out." Additionally, anyone know where to find a really good tutorial on acrylic painting? I got a set and wanted to try it out but I'm feeling overwhelmed because I haven't picked up a paintbrush in 20 years.
>>7896017cause it's an art, not a science. having fun and experimenting is all you need to do in order to learn.
>>7896037Well that’s gay and stupid. And so are you. We need a scientific approach to drawing.
>>7896017The best acrylic painting tutorial I have seen so far imo is by Hajime Sorayama. It's a few pages at the end of one of his artbooks, called Venom. Sorayama is actually a highly accomplished artist, not just some teacher, so he really knows what he is doing. His technique is actually quite simple and straight forward tho. Just start with painting shadows in grey, then put a layer of the base color over it, and then he starts erasing the color with an electrical eraser for highlights. Put on gesso for background, etc
>>7896017Also there is a video of Sorayamas process on youtube too. That's also an interesting resource
>>7896083There is a science behind why things look the way they do and how the human brain perceives input, but there are so many techniques and materials with which to make a specific effect that I don't know if anyone can make a fundamental science of drawing. I think if you try you'll end up an art scientist and not an artist
>>7896083Experimenting and finding out what works and what doesn't is literally the scientific method.
>>7896093NTA but science also builds on previous studies made by other people.
>>7896107Yes, but that only works for things that don't happen purely inside your brain. The theory for things like perspective, anatomy, light and color is pretty well understood. They are objective things that exist in the world."How I move a pencil to create appealing strokes" is something you'll have to figure out yourself.
>>7896118Doesn't mean you can't look at tutorials made by artists with more skill and experience than you.
How do I cope with knowing that I'll never be good because I'm an impatient retard?
How long is too long to work on a drawing? I’m over 6 hours on the current piece and I think that means it’s a waste of time because I see artists on insta put out great pieces and they say it was just a quick sketch and I’m pretty sure six hours isn’t quick.
>>7896138Being impatient is not necessarilly bad. Maybe you can draw faster through this. It's often hard to know how good you can be, because if you just lack a certain information, it can ruin your whole drawing. You need to find all the pieces of the puzzle first to really see what you can do. The fundamentals are important. If you neglect them or lack certain knowledge about them, then it can ruin your drawing.
>>78961666 hours is totally fine. It depends on what you wanna create. Some artists are sitting months on a single picture. Many illustrators work on it for a week. Some just do it in 3 days. And others just in one evening. It depends on how detailed and polished you want to go, but 6 hours should be perfectly fine. Your speed also depends on your experience and mental and physical state. I would say it's always better to take your time, instead of rushing things with a speed which goes over your abilities.
Is there a site like pinterest where I don't need to sign up to save images
For permabegs, how many hours of drawing did it take you to realize you were a permabeg?
>>7896505Six. >>7896166
>>7896235>not just screenshotting pinterest imageswhat are we doing out here m8
>>7896235You can use inspect element to open the image in a new tab and download it from there
>>7896575>>7896637Maybe I should have asked the question without the dumb excuse, I actually just wanted to know about an alternative. Feels like artists that use pinterest are constantly using the same references so I mostly want to avoid that.
>>7896867I use reference pics to get ideas, not copy them. for example, when I'm doing a pose from memory its usually stiff and flat, so I will study candid photos of people, who usually arent even posing. like sometimes their arm is craned out or their wrist is limp, or they put weight on one foot. small things that dont always come to mind when thinking of a subject
>>7884923Seriously, how do you learn to draw like this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwVPW2Mh2AII am not talking of the anatomy, but how to draw the space, the 3D. Is it even something that can be learned?
>>7897129Study perspective. Eye level and vanishing points, drawing cubes in perspective
>>7897132I am doing that (again) but it doesn't give me the sense of space. I don't understand how people does this...
>>7897144Well you need to learn multiple things. You need to understand perspective, you need to know some anatomy (which you can then put into perspective), and you need to be able to draw somewhat clean lines (otherwise you can't hit the proportions well enough)
>the sunset is orange, but the light that peers through obstructing buildings is redwhat’s this effect called?

Book rec for learning colour theory?
How do I feel less lonely and dead inside? I think it prevents me from drawing...
Does anyone have any affordable printer and cutter recommendations? I just want to turn my art into silly vinyl stickers to plaster around my room.
>>7897939My local library has both a color printer and a cricut. Maybe yours does, too. It's either extremely cheap or free. It's useful to be familiar with the software, though, as the librarian won't always know how to make it do exactly what you want w/o a little help.I don't bother maintaining a color printer at home anymore. Anyway, it's an option worth considering.
>>7896886where do you get these pics from?
>>7897939I think if I was getting a new printer now I would get an ecotank. The ink is poured in from bottles sidestepping that predatory nickel and diming with the cartridges that the big printer companies do.
>>7897792Suicide.
>>7898164But then I can't draw anymore...
>>7897792>I think it prevents me from drawing...It absolutely does. You need to have some form of life outside of art so you don't constantly bitch and moan about how lonely and depressing your life is. It's added stress, you don't need a gf- in fact a gf is the worst you can have because it puts a band-aid on the giant axe wound which is the network of people humans have in their life in order to be healthy and you'll most likely would make her fill in all those roles. Peers encourages competition having someone a couple of steps ahead of you and a couple behind allows you to learn from the former and reinforce what you know for the latter, enemies helps you deal with people you don't like, and regular friends allow you to just hang out and try the things you find too stupid to do alone so you won't have the experience of being enjoyably wrong about things. Stress can get high and we have a tendency to stack problems on one another, other people tend to help share the burden and offer solutions you wouldn't have thought of otherwise. It's pretty gay, but you need people in your life everything you own is dependent on someone else why would you be different?
>>7898443I don't believ you. You make no sense. I don't care about shit like "friends" or "family". Those are usually just very superficial relationships anyway.
>>7898483>I don't care about shit like "friends" or "family". Those are usually just very superficial relationships anyway. That's the problem, you don't invest and discern between relationships. You think you're being a smart alpha chad escaping the matrix by not engaging while you're depraving yourself from the advantages those relationships can bring. Camaraderie is definitely a big one, but friends and family can pass down things to you, put you on to new things you wouldn't have known about in your echo chamber and give you advice and support with breaking your shell. If you keep people at arm's legnth they'll do the same to you... and I'm not saying this because I grew up in a disney movie, I grew up with the internet atomized like a lot of people. I became really depressed and nothing felt real so I decided to start making an effort to do these things, there were a lot of problems (That's why discernment is important), but a lot of fun times as well. Just pretend for a while and see where it goes... you may need to make a schedule for art though because you're probably gonna be more busy.
>>7898536My whol life I just took shit from people. I really don't care about this stuff. I'm actually happy I have no contact to my family anymore.
Hi. I was wondering if this kind of angle 'makes sense', so to speak. Like, I love it, personally, but it's always felt a bit anatomically odd.I know foregoing anatomical accuracy for erotism is not unheard of, so I don't mind that much. Just wondering how precise this sorta of high angle is when it comes to big boobs. Or in general
>>7898640no it doesn't make sense but coomers don't care
how do i stop myself from drawing my figures slightly leaning?
>>7885364I'm not quite sure, but I guess this would be possible with ffmpeg.
>>7899157its not about "leaning", its distortion due to the position of your head in relation to the canvas. its one of the reasons they say to tilt your canvas vertically and look at different angles more as you draw
Does it really take years to learn anatomy
>>7900821If you had talent you could do it in weeks
i have a question for those of you who are lucky enough to do trad art commissions. or those who paint for other people in general. how do you handle the drying times? especially for oil paints. do you store the painting for the amount of time needed before applying the final varnish? or do you deliver the piece to the customer as soon as its completed? do you charge for storage? is that assumed in your pricing?for the record, i am basically pre-beg. im not asking this from the perspective of someone who needs help in my own situation. this is basically just me trying to sate my own curiosity.
how big and wide should the neck hole be in the rib cage...
Whenever I'm trying to draw gestures, I tend to lose track of the big picture and individual areas may drift into becoming disproportionate compared to the rest of the body. What should I be practicing to remedy this?
>>7885079>It’s two girls so it’s still yuri rightnope, there's a dick. Futa on female is just futa on female.
In Krita, is there a way to copy a selection so that it actually copies all visible layers inside the selection, and pastes them as a new, flattened, single layer?Normally it only copies the selected layer, or if I have multiple layers selected it copies and pastes each individual layer. The use case would be that if I'm e.g. testing color variations for some design, with various parts in different layers for easy recoloring (like a character's hair color in one layer, skin tone in another, eye colors in a third etc.), I could finish a variation and then just quickly copy and paste the result elsewhere on the canvas and start editing the original again. And that way quickly belt out a bunch of variants to compare.
>>7901436Seems like there's a shortcut for copy (merged) which is ctrl + shift + c
>>7901459that's EXACTLY what I was looking for! thanks
Will studying the skull help me draw appealing faces?
Working on a style board and trying to make my own style. Was wondering if anyone knew how to mimic the texture on the bottom right image?
>>7884923/diy/ here...im building trailer and I want to paint it with red hammer paint. I cant buy that color, i read on a yt comment you can tint a qt of silver with oil based color. has anyone done this?
>>7901650Looks like water color on paper.
>>7901650sauce on that furry comic

>>7901727Thanks would anyone have guides or something for mimicking the effect?>>7901757https://myhentaigallery.com/g/57385 Here ya go champ. I really like desaturated colors in my work and this palette resonated with me.
This might be hyper autism, but the base color part in this is fucking with me. You put it over your lineart? Under? Have one base and then paint another? Like wtf is this?
Should I not be lifting before drawing or is this a /fit/ beg thing? My arm feels light and ticklish and slightly shaking
So this question is aimed at that (probably) hyperminuscule % of folks who:* Primarily do lewd art(mostly for fun but not exclusively)* Are able to get off on their own art( to such an extent that it is in fact the main driving force behind the 'fun' quoted in the bulletpoint above.)* Live with their parents or someone other than a partner/romantic interest(both or just one, still counts as long as you live under their roof/floors)* Have high libido and spend copious amount of time edging>gooning (specially while working on the aforementioned lewd art, but not exclusively.)* Despite being a rabid degenerate, you still possess a stubborn sense of decency/shame which causes you to be very mindful of your surroundings and the people you live with(this applies both to those who live with their parents and other people as long as you are not romantically involved, but specially to the former)What is the point of this stupid question, you ask? Well, as you may be able to infer, I happen to be in the exact situation detailed by the descriptors listed above and its somewhat annoying to constantly adjust to the rhythm of 'normal' day to day interaction with a parent(mother in my case) and my quasi-addiction to producing the lewdest of the lewd stories in comic format and getting stuck in a loop of edging for hours>climaxing>rinse and repeating until once again, I have to step out of my warlock cave and behave like a normal human being.Mature and honest answers only, please refrain from answering if you:* Are a no-draw, permacrab, troll, grifter, deceiver, shitposter, every variation and/or combination of all of these.Although I will not change my ways, I just want to know how do (you) go about it if you are indeed in the same predicament as I am. And I of course appreciate your honesty, should you feel inclined to share it. Thanks.PS.Pic is but a figment of a sample of the lewdest of lewd art ever created by mankind, heh
Is there a way to use both a screen tablet and a non-display at the same time on one PC? If so i'm assuming they have to be both from the same brand so the drivers don't conflict. Has anyone done this before?
>>7902954Yeah you can do it, works fine with wacom stuff. Like you said, drivers might conflict if they are different brands.
>>7898541Then please kill yourself. Don't bother making another post when your condition is already terminal.

Do muscle insertion points ever vary between people? Maybe the Trapezius muscle inserts a little further along the collarbone on one person than another
>>7903716Yeah there is genetic variation. Some muscles vary a lot, some not as much. You can find examples with bodybuilder because they care about it. Short vs long bicep insertions is a common one.
>>7903723Thank you. I was curious if I needed to keep strict ratios in mind or if a general idea of "where" insertion/origin points exist was good enough
How do you collapse this bar in CSP?
Is it true that listening to music while you draw decreases neuroplasticity
How long should figure studies take? Ive been drawing random poses I like online but I want to start doing focused figure study sessions. The thing is that I take way too long on drawings since I'm constantly trying to fix my mistakes. How do I get over this so I can start doing multiple figures in one sitting? Also, how long should a figure study take? Ive seen people say it should take like 5mins but I've also seen people say it can take up to 30 mins, so im unsure.
>>7905530Do different lengths.
>>7902927Just put a few more hours of rest between the workout and drawing session. Alternatively, improve muscle endurance so your arm doesn't tire out so easily.
>>7905530In reality you shouldn't do any figure studies. You shouldn't do anything with the goal of just practicing. Because the best way to practice is by creating finished works. You also can combine figure studies with finished works.
testing so I can post art later
>>7905753i don't feel good enough to finish anything desu
>>7906212That means you need to finish more things
I kind of made up my mind about this one, but ill ask anywayHow bad of an idea is buying a drawing tablet (display) as someone who's at prebeg levels of drawing as of now?I feel limited in my sketchbook. I erase a lot and i can see all my previous attempts with fucks with me in a way. I want to learn basic anatomy via shapes and i feel like drawing over a picture and then trying to recreate it via copying to learn about various poses and perspectives. I also feel like I'll have easier time following references if i have it on the same plane (screen) as the one i draw on instead of constantly tilting my head back and forth from my computer's screen to the drawing place I'm sure i won't give drawing up so i won't be wasting money, got too much stuff i want to draw from my mind
if i just traced over images would i improve at drawing in any way generally?
>>7906900Yep. If you're tracing photos, you'll soon discover you don't know which edges to trace, nor how completely to trace them. With some experiment, you'll get a feel for the effect of including or excluding certain lines. This might change apparent age, or confuse which way an arm is bending at the elbow. It will be useful in your later work.If you're tracing line drawings, the benefit is a bit similar. Someone else has already made the decisions about what to leave in and what to leave out, and this will help you make similar decisions in future work.Apart from that, it's basic mechanical practice for your hands. You'll advance (hopefully) from awkwardly tracing in little hops to following curves with longer sweeps of the pen.
My forearm started to hurt after 4 hours of drawing, I draw mostly everyday. How do I deal with the pain besides resting and arm sleeve?

Hey guys, sorry that this is more of a weird, silly question for /gd/ and /3/, but those boards seem almost completely dead and fossilized, so I also wanted to ask you. I'd like to get into some kind of very, very casual "generative" (not AI) art. Kind of like what game devs do to generate and modify abstract art, beautiful landscapes, mechanical things, architecture and stuff like that based off of certain mathematical functions, but simpler. For example, right now I'm messing around with Excel conditional formatting, making neat, abstract patterns to kill time at work (I know that this is incredibly autistic and retarded, but that's the only thing I have at my job and it's easier to hide when I'm slacking a bit). Is there something more powerful than excel but still casual and simple to use compared to something like photoshop/blender and other "serious" programs?
>>7907260blender has really powerful generative rendering I guess with all kinds of geometry nodes that you can do unintended things with
>>7907260You might want to try GIMP.I never use it for this function myself, but you can get all sorts of plugins and make your own plugins using Python.
Is it normal that i get really mentally tired from actually learning to draw?Anytime im drawing i try to visualise all this stuff in my head, how it would look from different perspectives, how the shapes bend and why they do so, how the unseen parts look. This and other stuff like thatMaybe im just retarded and it's too much for my peanut sized brain
>>7907263friends don't let friends use GIMP. there are a handfull of free apps that are so much better because they don't spend time trying to be unique and not fitting in with any of the conventions of all the other software out there because it's anti-windows convention (which is actually mac and predates Adobe coming up with photoshop 1.0)tl;dr: fuck GIMP don't recommend shit
>>7907290yes
>>7907292I like to think this yes refers to the first part of my post and not the last oneMaybe it's bothMaybe the reason i dont know is because of the last partMaybe the image you posted has an answer to itRegardless, thanks. I'll complain less and I'll get back to drawing. Have fun
>>7907261>>7907263>>7907291Thanks, I will definitely be looking into those. I guess the exact program I need does not really exist and I should just serious up and learn to use real programs.
>3 years grinding fundies while working part-time>get fairly decent at figures, try portraiture, not good but not full beg-tier>manage to find figure drawing club that does session that work with my schedule>drawing traditional from life skyrockets skill in the span of 6 months.>spec in furry/anime/fanart goonslop>start getting a couple comms from friends and twitter followers>laid off of part-time job, move on to new one with shit hours>no energy to put into maintaining skill, don't draw for about two years>get better shift, have energy, never go back because other creative interests>8 years later, want to try to get back to where I was before>figure club was wiped out due to pandemic>have VR, find world in vrchat with 3dscanned people, use it for study alongside having gooner friends pose in their anime modelsWill this work, guys? Is using a big brush to block out your under-sketch a bad idea?
What exactly are those "cool" and "warm" hues on the skin? The parts colored with a greenish gray and orange red respectively. How do you know where to put them? And is it true trad artists start coloring the skeen with green?
>>7907729There's always a chance friend, you only need to actually try
Let me just say that if you buy Anthony Jones (Robotpencil) 's mentorship, you are kind of an idiot. His artwork is not good and the reason he mentors people is because he cant get any jobs.
Why do dip pen nibs degrade so fast while fountain pen nibs seem to last forever?
>>7907762Start with a base layer in gray (grisaile) or, for example, chrome oxide green (verdaccio); once it’s dry, apply a wash of skin tone over it. In this image, the ears, nose, and fingers are red; the half-shadows are gray; and the brightest areas are contrasted with the rust-red next to them.
