What's your honest opinion?Personally, it's the most generic and cringeworthy thing I see these days. At least at parties and in cities, it's the most degrading and devaluing thing because of the way it treats you, not as an artist, but as some damn harlequin. A grandma doing a croissant has more dignity.
>>7896149The correct term for this is caricaturist. I will refrain from calling you a faggot just this once, OP.

>was hoping for a cartoon thread>is actually specifically caricatureDavid Levine is the GOAT. Just really solid drawing and graphic sense.A problem with a lot of later is caricaturists is that, in an effort to craft their style and leave their own mark, they distort too extremely and chaotically. It's become kind of a genre, the boomer caricaturist who makes monstrosities. It's pretty challenging to capture and exaggerate key features just to the breaking point, so you get maximum distortion without turning the thing into sludge.Suck that it feels impossible to find digital scans of his work that aren't thumbnail tier.I also like Bill Plympton. Unique, fun.
As a former caricature artist for the Smithsonian, it's a hard job but fun if you like to draw in a slightly stressful fast-paced environment. Some people like that, it's not humiliating at all just sounds like you're a little socially anxious and don't care about making people smile. It does a lot more good than posting halfassed coomer OCs on 4chan. It's also a lot harder than you think

>>7896149I tend to not like caricatures because they're either; Not a good representation of the person, and doesn't really look like them; It's just flat out ugly art, often with the subjects head being stylistically different than the rest of the image, to the point of being distracting; If it is stylistically consistent, the style is often hideous and not appealing to look at.I do like Mort Drucker's caricatures though, probably only because I generally like his art, and even his caricatures often feel like they're trying to hard to say "Here's celebrity X's face!", to the detriment of the overall image.Picrel is just a random Mort drawing, I'm not even sure it's a caricature... I really need to save more of his stuff.
>>7896203Mort Drucker and Tom Richmond are great, the whole MAD crew was awesome
