Recently I've noticed I suck absolute ass at drawing digitally.

I don't know if it's because of the lack of control I feel, not feeling the friction between the pen and the paper or what, but the gap in quality between my art in both mediums is staggering to say the least. You can see an example of that in picrel.

I've ended up adopting a hybrid technique where I draw with a pencil and add rendering and shading digitally.

I've been wondering if more of you feel like this, be it from traditional to digital or the other way around.

Let us know how you feel about it, or if this happens to you as well.

you suck both ways and you know it

You draw in foidstyle. Nothing will help
>>

I like it tho

What does foidstyle mean?
>>
>>7896242
Which tablet model are you using?

I use a Kamvas 16, I don't have much money so it's the best I could afford. I work on design so I don't necessarily use it only for drawing but yeah.

Here is another comparison from me.

I would draw chunks of a panel, drag it into Photoshop, and process it into a recyclable asset. This is good for background elements and complex props.

desu i like ur digitals more

I also use both. I sketch in trad, then fix the drawing in digital (mirroring is just way more convenient in digital), then i print the drawing out again, then i color it

I started with trad but i also like the look of trad more. Digital is too sterile and perfect, unless you know how to make it look more trad. The line control pn paper is also true, but there are screen layers for cintiques to get a paper feel. It's also more fun to use real paint and brushes. However digital has some really helpful stuff which I still need.

have you considered adding texture and noise layers at 5% opacity, it's retarded but it works.

Unexpected but very welcome

I hadn't. Actually goated idea. I was thinking of getting a scanner to make my process easier but was worried it would look "too perfect". This is a fix I'm willing to try if that happens.

LMAO at poor people!
seriously though i personally found it way easier to improve at drawing with a screenless than with a screen tablet, i have no idea why
>>
>>7896242
I too can't draw for crap digitally. I recently ordered an image scanner, which when it arrives should really help me scan images more consistently than taking photos on my phone. I'll likely end up doing small edits to bad smears or ugly uneven colors. I'll still do the colors and shading trad
>>
>>7896242
just curious, whats the latency of your tablet?
>>
>>7896242
your "trad" example looks suspiciously like digital

I don't know, haven't ever really checked that, though I doubt it'd have much to do with it.

>>7896548
I have been thinking of buying a scanner as well, just like you I just want the quality to stay the same.

>>7896573
It might be because of the image tweaking I do. Pic related is what one of these drawings look like before any digital manipulation

Try using brushes that simulate the traditional media that you are used to.
